I was referred to this moss by a family friend when I found out my leopard gecko had eggs. I got this soft moss for her hides and she snuggled up right away. It's cool looking, doesn't smell and is good for many uses. Locks in moisture as well.
Pros: looks great, easy to clean

This moss is excellent. One brick covers a lot of ground (expands to fill a large mixing bowl) and, when mixed with Eco Earth, makes a lot more digging material. It holds moisture well with one or two mistings a day, and adds necessary color to an otherwise plain brown substrate. Also, it's real moss, which is really awesome compared to other "fake" mosses. It isn't as green as live moss, but I didn't expect it to be since it isn't live moss. There is also a possibility of impaction since the moss is in clumps, but I believe the risk to be small. My Chinese water dragon ate a small piece when I first used it in her tank, and she hasn't done so since (probably doesn't taste good :P).
The only real con is that, as another review said, it does have a noticeable smell. I've had it in the terrarium for about a week now, and every time I come in my room, I do smell it, but it is not an unbearable smell. Also, after a while, you can't smell it anymore, so it's not that big of an issue. However, for people with sensitive noses, they may want to avoid this product unless they don't mind the smell of a marsh.
Finally, two useful tips: first, DO NOT try to expand this in a pitcher! It will get stuck in there and is an enormous pain to pull out. Use a container that is wide and preferably deep like a mixing bowl or large tub. Second, although it does not say this on the package, it is a good idea to wring it out after soaking it before using it. Even though it doesn't look like it, there is a lot of dirt in the moss, and wringing it out will wash all of it out of there.
So, yes, I recommend this product, just be warned that it does have a noticeable smell and wring it out before use!

I bought this product in search of something to keep the humidity up in my Pacman frog's tank. It had definitely worked! Not only does it keep up the humidity, but it provides extra substrate for my frog to burrow into. These blocks make a LOT of moss - more than you would expect! It is worth the cost, and better than getting loose moss, as you get more in just one of these blocks than in a bag of loose stuff. The only downfall is that crickets hide in the moss.
Pros: keeps up humidity, extra burrowing substrate, makes a lot of moss
Cons: crickets hide in the moss

I noticed a customer made a statement about mold being able to grow on this product and it is true. HOWEVER. there are ways to prevent it. one way is to increase the air flow in the terrarium.most likely there is too little or no air flow and that can cause mold to grow because all the humidity builds up. Also it is important to let the moss dry out completly before storing it to avoid mold growth and your product being ruined. I hope this helps. thanks
Pros: holds humidity well for quite a few days
Cons: requires occasional misting because it dries out

This product is very unexpensive, but they say you get what you pay for in this case thats absolutely right. This product stinks very bad when you first soak it in water it smells very simular to a old marsh. I had to light candles all over the room to try to make the stench less intense. A week after I purchased this a small transparent mold started to grow all over the moss, so i took the moss completly out of the tank and now its in a dump truck somewhere. This has been my only purchase that i have been disapointed in after useing it.
