The Best Thing EVER!!,
December 11, 2006
by Rwood
from Philadelphia, PA
"I have a Bichon Frise who is 12 lbs of energy and attitude. She has a sweet disposition but lots of trouble recognizing me as the "alpha dog." I have taken her for training several different times with minimal success. She understood the commands, but only responded when she felt like it. She would only listen when she wanted to and would freak out when the doorbell rang or people came into the house. I read the reviews about how the harness instantly changed the dog's behavior and did not believe it. I figured my dog would not respond but was willing to give it a try. The moment we started using this harness, she changed! I couldn't believe it. All of my friends and family who knew her before are commenting at how well behaved she is now. The excessive barking, leash pulling and sheer defiance has been reduced dramatically. Its like having a brand new dog. We are getting ready to start a family and I had told my husband a month before we bought the collar that if we couldn't get her under control before having kids, we'd have to consider giving her away. Now I am very confident that it won't be a problem!!! I have already recommended it to several friends and really can't say enough good things about it."

Just what the trainer ordered,
November 14, 2006
by tes283
from Fl
"The cute 18-lb, 4 month, severly abused puppy with lots of positive, reinforced training was becoming a better member of the family pack every week. After a year, the only area I had not been able to improve in was when people and other dogs came near the house. He transformed into a barking, snarling, bitting maniac. To walk him, I still had to put on a muzzle, a collar-leash, and a harness-leash to restrain him when he saw another person or dog. By now he was over 40lbs and it was time to call in a professional trainer. I learned that for this dog the muzzle was actually part of his problem. The trainer recommended this Gentle Leader. I watched the DVD. I learned how to properly place and fit the Gentle Leader. I learned how to use and not use this product. I practiced in the fenced back yard with a very light cloth leash attached to the Gentle Leader. I still had the two leather leashes attached to his collar and harness, in case this did not work and I had to drag him away from attacking the fence. This time, I was hoping for someone to walk by. When they did, I followed the detailed example in the DVD, and the dog responded just as the example in the DVD. I was very impressed. Now that I am able to walk him, he has met more people and dogs and is learning that they will not hurt him. This one product got us pass this road block and back on the track of becoming a valued member of society. The DVD is invaluable in that it shows and explains how to properly fit the Gentle Leader. How to use and not use the product. Why you want a thin low-weight leash attached to the Genlte Leader. The Gentle leader itself is the perfect thickness and is created in such a way to fit to get the most benefit. There are other products that look like this product, BUT this is the one that does work. I am very happy. The Premier Pet Gentle Leader Training Dog Collar is the one I recommend."

This product saved our family!!,
October 1, 2006
by Zarah
from Portland, OR
"Our puppy, at 8 months old, was CRAZY! Barking, biting, scratching, you name it and he did it. And we were nowhere near being able to take him for a walk. But we knew there was a good dog in there somewhere. After numerous products and training suggestions, we finally bought the Gentle Leader, and within 5 minutes of putting it on we knew we had found our salvation. We've been using it for a week now, and he is a completely different pup. He walks calmly, is no longer biting and scratching, and is learning manners.
If your dog needs an attitude adjustment, you need the Gentle Leader! It looks pretty unusual, and it takes a little practice and a lot of adjusting to get the fit right, but it WORKS."

AMAZING,
September 27, 2006
by Aiden

"After doing the jerk/release for a while, I got tired of being pulled everywhere by my lab. I realized one day after falling UP steps trying to keep up with him I needed to try something else. I took him to the pet store and was looking at all the different collar/leashs. I was at first horrified of the price of the gentle leader collar. Thinking to myself this wont work and will be a waste of money. I looked at chain choke/spike collars thinking how inhumane and I didnt want to hurt my dog. Just as I was looking back to the gentle leader a dog trainer of the store came by and I asked her about it. She said it was AMAZING. She told me that my dog would probably try to get it off at first but then would be ok. She pulled it out and showed me how easy it was to put on my lab. He flipped out for about 20 seconds till I started walking with him. It was a miracle. I was then sold on the product. I kept it on him and when we got home he wasnt his usual hyperactive, jumping up, running around self. He was a brand new dog. So much calmer and submissive with the gentle leader collar on (we didnt even have a leash on him) Its like he finally new who the pack leader was. I cant wait to take him on more walks! At the dog park he is still able to tumble and run and play with the other dogs with the gentle leader on. I plan on giving out gentle leaders to my friends that are having a hard time controling their dogs."

WoW!!!,
September 12, 2006
by SDSurfgurl

"I took our new 1 year old lab for a walk this morning, on a regular collar- and I vowed never again to walk him, I couldn't handle his strength! A regular harness hadn't worked either. We met someone with a very well behaved dog on our walk and he recommended the Gentle Leader to me. I looked it up, and at first glance though "You must be kidding, that little thing?!?" But being desperate, I went out and bought it. After watching the instructional DVD (very informative on HOW and WHY this leader works, a must watch before attempting to fit/use the leader, and it describes possible dog reactions and how to deal with their reactions) I put the leader on, which was very easy after watching video. My dog had minimal resistance to the new feeling. I took him immediately for a walk, and he was a brand new dog! He attempted to pull, but following the directions I increased the tension on the leash, and he stopped IMMEDIATELY. By a minute in to the walk, you would not recognize the well behaved dog as the one I walked earlier. The Gentle leader was an absolute lifesaver, and one of the best purchases I have made for training our new dog how to behave acceptably. If my 2 year old could understand the concept of when to increase and decrease the tension on the leash, she (25 lbs) could even walk him (70+ lbs) with out being dragged away from me or losing control of him."

This saved our walks!,
August 17, 2007

"My 35lb dog used to pull like crazy. I tried at least 5 other collars and harness etc. This was the winner! I can now walk him like a normal dog without him trying to pull my arm off of me. The DVD that came with mine helped a great deal. I just had to stay committed because initially he wasn't thrilled about wearing it. I tell him to sit and I gently put it on him and say good boy (small treats help initially) and we are out the door enjoying our calm walks for the first time in along time."

Best Product for Pulling and Jumping On The Market,
July 25, 2007
by Liikeria
from Northern Massachusetts
"I have a 111# Ball of Fury Labrador Retriever Named Brady. No professional Training AT ALL. He was absolutely nuts; it was worse the Marley if you've read the Book ' Marley And Me ' Man Was that Puppy crazy. I tried Pinch Collars... Choke Chaines.. Anti-Pull Harnesses.. Everything! Nothing worked to hold that monster dog... except for this. The Gentle Leader HeadCollar works excellent. Just in a day; walking with this; he wouldn't bark at bicycles; He wouldn't pull when he saw another dog; and he didn't jump on strangers. This Product is more than worth the money. We've used this product for almost a year; now our dog walks better on a leash than any professionally Trained Dog. So Don't waist time finding a trainer for pulling; jumping; and barking even.. Just get this product. Believe me; You'll be amazed."

What a Difference!!!,
July 25, 2007
by MMB07
from Cleveland, OH
"I bought this for my 90 lb Pyr when I was 7 months pregnant because I simply didn't have the balance or strength to walk her anymore. She walked ok, not stellar, until something caught her eye... then it was a wrestle to keep her from pulling me. I finally took my own advice and bought the Gentle Leader, and I sorely wish I had when she initially started not walking nicely. I had used the halter as a preventative before, so I didn't realize how drastic a change it would make, but it is like walking a totally different dog! It doesn't matter if we walk by another dog or a friend, she can't pull me or make me have to tug on her. She stays close by my side now and there is no more sore arms and frustration... if you are stressed and sore after taking your dog for a walk then please give this a try... just make sure you follow the directions to a T and buy the right fit. After 10 minutes of adjusting to the halter your dog will be a new pet and walks will be enjoyable again!"

BEST COLLAR EVER!!!!!!,
July 14, 2007
by petluver13
from Gainesville, GA
"I LOVE this thing! my wiemaraner, Beau, always pulled me down the street and he even pulled me down on my stomach and has durg me across the yard many times to get to another dog. I have had to let go of the leash in order to get back on my feet and hope that he would stay were I could get to him and pull him back home. He would never hurt another dog, but another dog might hurt him if it felt that Beau is threating it. I tried to teach him how to heel but he ended up teaching ME that if I wasn't fast enough he was leaving me behind. Childen were afraid of him and my neighbor's grandson said that he was "a bad dog". I was begaing to think that he was right, but then I found the Gentle Leader on Petsmart.com and read all of the reviews. after some thinking we went out and bought it. Everything about it is wonderful! The DVD tells you everything you need to know and if the answer to your qustion is not in the DVD it will be in the copy of printed instructions. Beau will now heel by my side, my little brother can walk him with little trouble and instead of children backing away from him, they all line up to pet him! I have reseived several complements on how well behaved he is around children! it dose take alot of adjusting now and then and the snap is hard to open the first few times, but it gets easier and seeing how much he has calmed down and how much happier he is to not be the leader annymore is well worth it!!!:)"

Love Gentle Leader,
June 28, 2007
by mJackRussel

"I love the Gentle Leader. I have used all kinds of harnises & collars and nothing is to be compared to it. Some dogs take more time to get used to than others but make sure you watch the FREE Dvd that comes with it. Its very useful. I have (2) Jack Russells and my parents have (2) Golden Retrievers. I strongly reccoment this product."

it's a bunny life saver!,
June 21, 2007
by 3dogs3kids
from Charlottesville, VA
"Our doberman/chow is notorious for chasing rabbits and cats when we go on walks. When he sees one look out, I usually get pulled over. Our shepherd/border collie is also a big puller at 78 lbs and has pulled me over. After watching a very late night program on a pet channel where the trainer "tamed" 2 large "beasts" by putting Gentle Leaders on them, I was sold. The next day I bought 2. That evening my husband and I took the dogs out for a walk and sure enough just as we were all getting into the groove of our first great walk ever with no pulling, a bunny was spotted. Well, both dogs reacted, tried to run only to have their back ends flip around but the front of them never moved, and I didn't even have time to tighten my grip. The gentle leader kept them in control and saved that bunny's life!"

Do not hesitate to buy this lead!!,
June 13, 2007
by Brady
from Rhode Island
"My 3 yr old retriever/shepherd mix is 50lbs and strong willed. Walks weren't great. He'd yank my arm out of the socket to chase a squirrel or I'd constantly pull him away from the dogs and kids we'd pass because he's so friendly, and so on. When I saw you had to watch a DVD before using this I was put off but it's so worth it! My dog took to it easily and now he walks with me, and comes to me easily despite distractions with just a gentle tug. It is NOT a muzzle and doesn't restrict him at all. After 3 days I no longer needed a treat to get it on him - now he's excited when he sees it because he knows it means a walk! Follow the instructions on the DVD and you can't go wrong! My dog can't fight me like he did with a regular collar/leash and I no longer feel like I'm choking him when I correct him. I see other people struggling with their dogs on walks and I want to say "Stop fighting you dog! Go get a gentle leader!!" TRY IT - You'll never go back!"

"This is a great training aid, but if you aren't familiar with it you MUST read the directions and watch the DVD. You will learn what to do and, also important, what NOT to do. Treat rewards are also key to the process, so learn how to use them. This is an excellent collar. I have Scottish Deerhounds and Spinone Italionis. Super control."

Great Product,
June 7, 2007

"As everyone else says this really is a great product. I have a 70 pound mixed breed dog who is a very strong and hard for me to control outdoors. From the instant I put the collar on her she immediately stopped pulling and stayed by my side. She also listens to other commands much better on the Gentle Leader. Our neighborhood is full of other dogs who bark, and while walking she no longer barks back. She does not like wearing the Gentle Leader while off leash particularly around the house. But is very excited to go on walks with it!"

Nope, I'm not going,

"It works, but on the morning of the third day with this head collar, one of my two lab mixes looked at the collar, looked at me, and went and laid down in the other room. Having a dog who enjoys his walk is more important, so I'll be looking for another alternative."

Works only when Gentle Leader is on,
May 18, 2007
by Francine
from Brooklyn Park, MN
"I have a 1 1/2 year old Border Collie/Australian Cattle dog mix that I used this coller with. He did great when I had the collar on him. He would still try to get it off once and a while. However, once the collar was removed and I tried to use a regular collar he would pull again. Plus, people think it is a muzzle and think my dog is vicious and that is why he has this on. He is a lover not a fighter. Anyhow, I bought a choke chain and have had much better success with that for only $5. He seems much happier not to have this Gentle Leader on as well."

worked like a charm,
May 12, 2007
by leftoverpasta
from Chicago, IL
"I just got back from the first walk with my two beagle puppies; one is 10 months old and the other is 8 months old. I could hardly believe how pleasurable it was to walk them. Within 2 minutes they were like Stepford beagles! There was no tugging, weaving, or jumping up on passersby. I couldn't believe it. Before, it was excruciating to walk them. I only did it because I knew they had to be walked and prayed that eventually---you know, years from now--they'd calm down. The Gentle Leader has eliminated the wait.
The only thing is that my 10 month old puppy pitched a fit and tried rolling on the ground, rubbing at her face. The DVD that comes with the collar explains how to deal with this; hence, the fit was no big deal. I was able to calm her within seconds.
If you've ever been walked by your dogs, you will be amazed by this collar. (And remember, if this doesn't work for you there are two other varieties by the same manufacturer that just might do the trick)."
