This cage is way to small. The size alone is as big as a dwarf hamster should fit it. (Bar spacing is to large) please do not use this cage for a small animal. It is way to small! You could use the money you spend on this cage to build a large spacious c & c cage

I have had so many cages for my hamsters...i have syrians & dwarfs (separate cages), i've observed what they use & what they don't etc.. The plastic cages are good because the tubes connect to a fun activity for the hamster but only the syrians go easily through the tubes.... The russian dwarfs can go through but struggle a bit, the roborovski hamsters absolutely can't unless it's a short curved tube ..so ramps are better for dwarfs...BUT THEN you notice those cages with ramps or tubes lack floor space & all my hamsters LOVE to run & nest or burrow. So after so much experimenting they all LOVE this one & it's cheap...i always buy bottles separate anyway.. The only flaw i see is that the bars are more flexible & the space above the door lock is too wide between...it's the only problem area but i've sealed it makeshift style & put in a small single tube as a tunnel for the hamster(s).. The cages with tubes are ok but have no room for the hammy so i highly recommend this....Oh very important!: if you've got kids like me (3!) make sure you see that they don't drop anything into/through the bars as the whole cage is exposed by bars.

I have tried a few different cages including a crittertrail, and an aquarium. I found that with the crittertrail cage, it was super hard to clean, the parts kept breaking, the wheel was noisy, and my hamsters escaped from the hide on top. With the aquarium, I noticed that the smell was worse even though I cleaned it regularly, and It was still pretty hard to clean. This cage is amazing! It is very roomy, my hamster loves to climb on the bars, good ventalation, and I dont think it gets much easier to clean. It was a little difficult to set up and the cage door can be tricky to open at first, but other than that this is a great cage for hamsters!! You really get what you pay for!!!

I purchased this as a second cage to use with a new rat while I socialize him to introduce him to my other rat but immediately realized a design flaw that allows rats to chew a hole in the plastic bottom of the cage. (photo included) Where the metal top meets the plastic floor there is a lip that turns at a 90 degree angle then drops down to the floor. This edge is enticing to a chew-happy rat, and my rat was able to chew a hole nearly large enough to scape from in less than a week even when provided other things to chew on. This is $35 that is going to be thrown in the trash unfortunately. Don't waste your money unless you just need this as a cheap cage to transport rats in. Definitely not good as a long-term habitat.

I got 4 of these cages for my Syrian hamsters and two of them that came with top levels and ramps and it's the best cage out there for the money and the hamster but I still can't believe they say some of those critter trail cages are good for Syrian hamsters .

I have an adult male rat in here and he loves it. It fits all of this stuff nicely and its deep enough he can tunnel under it! Its easy for me to clean and took me a few seconds to put it together. The only problem was in the beginning it was hard to open the cage door and a couple of bars were bent. Its easy to bend but the bars are so close together I don't have to worry about my rat escaping!

I purchased this cage when my once young hamster begin to age and slow down. I like this one MUCH better. It is SO much easier to clean. Just lift the top off, dump and wipe down (everything comes off with ease) and you're done! I wish I would have gotten it sooner. It's bigger than most cages marketed for these animals and cheaper too. It could stand to be a little bigger but as long as your pet gets out of cage play time it's fine and for the price you can't beat it. Would highly recommend to any hamster or similarly sized pet owner. Nothing larger though as, like I said, it's still on the small size. Overall a great, easy to clean cage. I'd choose this over another "tube" cage any day. So much easier!

This is a good cage overall, but I find it to be a little bit on the small side for my Syrian hamster. Also, I appreciate the whole no tool concept, but the plastic tub doesn't really match with the top of the wire cage. It's always stretching and bending. And, the wire on the top (where the latches are) got unglued from the bars. It's good, but I find the quality to be a bit lacking.

We got this cage for my 2 female fancy rats. Im very happy with this cage it is very easy to clean. My rats have so much fun in it. I could fit an wheel,a large tunnel ,a big teddy bear. And they still have plenty of room. It is the best cage I ever had.

I bought this as a temporary home for two new rats for a few days until they could be placed in my big cage with my other two rats. I got them all set up in the cage and went to bed, when I woke up the next morning, one of them had escaped overnight and thankfully, couldn't get down from the table the enclosures were on. The bars are very flimsy in places and rats can bend them and squeeze out. I wouldn't recommend this cage for any animal. If a rat can escape, so could a hamster or gerbil as they're smaller, and it is simply too small of a home for a chinchilla or any of the larger animals.

I love this cage. This is a very durable cage and is a versatile cage too. I love how you can put tons of toys in it and create different designs of layouts with in it with as much creativity as you want. I use to have tons of tubes every where in the cage but it just got too much to clean every week so I decided to go with this simpler layout. I have had three hamsters in this cage. My first hamster was a Panda Bear hamster (largest breed of hamster) and lived a fun and healthy life in this cage. My second hamster was a very young teddy bear/panda bear hamster and never escaped from the cage even though she was the size of a dwarf hamster. My current hamster is really energetic and loves to run, chew, burrow, and climb. I find this to be the perfect cage for her because there is a deep base for lots of bedding to go in the bottom and her be able to not kick it all out. This is also good because she has space to run and climb. I highly recommend this cage to any hamster owner. Don't be fooled by thinking that it will be boring for your hamster..... Think safety and no escapes unless you leave the door open.

A very large cage for a hamster - great size! My hamster has lots of room to run around and everything. There are so many small hamster cages around that just aren't big enough for them. This cage is great - simple, practical, and inexpensive. I've had it for just over a month now and it's much better than other cages I've had. I'd definitely recommend it!

I bought this cage as a spare cage because one of my rats was injured and needed to be quarantined. It is easily the WORST cage I've ever bought. Yes, it's cheap, but not even worth the amount it costs. Terrible quality. The bars were all bent and bowed. The door didn't shut properly. My rat learned how to escape right away.

PS this cage is NOT suitable for most small animals. It is really tiny. I would not use this as a permanent home for anything bigger than a dwarf hamster.

I feel this cage is a bit small for my syrian hamster, but she always wants more. It fits everything she needs, but she constantly tries to escape and chews on the bars.

The only complaint I have with the cage is that I wish the side door closure was more secure. The door is held shut by friction between the closing mechanism and two bars. There isn't a real latch on it, so I worry sometimes that she will find a way out of it somehow (since she is always looking for one). When she gets too antsy and crawls up on the side door, I get worried and put a twist tie on the cage to hold it shut, but it probably isn't needed. The added security would have been nice, though.

Also the cage is super easy to construct, deconstruct, and clean.

Good product... I wish it came with a food dish... Our's was a great deal, it came with a wheel, a bottle, shavings, food, and treats, we bought a cute hut to go with it and Rhino(the hamster) LOVES it!

I have a couple of these single-level cages all in blue which I've used for rats and guinea pigs. Putting them together is fairly easy, but some of the hooks break or the latches don't line up with the base correctly. The plastic bases are really deep and help prevent the bedding from being kicked out everywhere. The price is pretty good for the size but keep in mind you'll need to buy all the extras to put in it. My only real issue is with the door which has two latches that are very hard to open! You have to pull on one of the bars and then try and pop it open which is difficult when there's two eager rats pawing at you wanting to get out and play. Size-wise I think this is great for no more than two rats, one guinea pig or a large hamster/gerbil. Really easy to clean and stack away. Not a bad starter at all but needs supplies.

I used to use the Habitrail OVO series for my two dwarf hamsters because I thought the design was very cute. But despite having two domes plus many many accessories, it was terrible because there were so many pieces to clean, yet so little room and barely any ventilation.

I soon moved from Habitrail to a bin style cage that, although, had plenty of space, was not very attractive to look at.

I started to look around for a new cage for my one dwarf hamster (the other one past away sadly) and I decided on this one! So far, I am loving it!

PROS:
- High base so hamster cannot kick bedding out thru the wires AND hamster cannot reach the wire as easily to chew it
- Very large cage for a hamster! My dwarf loves running around and she has plenty of space at 12"W X 21.5"L
- Cute "traditional" style wire cage design
- Easy to clean (just take off the wire top and clean the bin)
- Easy to assemble
- Wire design provides good ventilation

CONS:
- This size cage is only for a dwarf hamster. Maybe even a syrian but definitely not large enough for for guinea pigs, rats, or chinchillas
- Door closes in a weird way and makes a loud noise. I prefer the hooked door on the Living World cages...

Overall I highly recommend this cage if you want to spoil your hammie!! :)

Good budget cage, just for the basics. The cage door isn't the easiest to open in the world, but maybe that's a good thing. Easy assembly, seems to hold up well so far. Best thing about it is definitely the size.

I acquired a very large Syrian hamster a few months ago. After spending weeks looking for a decent cage for him, I was so excited to find this for such a great price at my local Petsmart! Altough it isn't really roomy for his size, it gets the job done as I'm able to fit an exercise wheel, hiding home, food dish, and tunnel in there for him. I have a Crittertrail cage for my smaller Syrian, but I'm now thinking of buying her this cage as well because of it's easiness to clean and durability. I would really recommend this cage for a teddy bear hamster.
