Spot On - A MUST HAVE for Great Dane parents

I purchased this in my local store. It fit into the back of my Durango with both rows of seats stowed. Two employees loaded it for me but I was able to remove it and get it inside myself. I also put it together myself. Ok, to be honest I had my 5 and 7 year old sons to "help" by holding things up. Lol. The box wasn't in great shape but it wasn't horrendous either. Nothing was broken or missing. It was hooked together and held together with zip ties for secure packaging, I'm sure. It was easy to cut the ties and the pull out the corner pins to undo the whole thing. My advice is to put it together where you want it if possible and locate all pieces and put them in their approximate configuration to get started. I noticed one reviewer said it sagged, and I am sure that is because they didn't follow the directions exactly. I know that because I made that mistake too. I, however, went back and paid better attention to what they mentioned about hook placement. Pins inserted easily and only needed a little adjustment on the last one. Happy with the fact it has 2 doors. The more expensive one has only 1 door but is an online only item anyhow.
I am over the moon satisfied with the end product and I am impressed with the sturdiness of the crate. My Euro Great Dane is 16 weeks, over 60 lbs and has enough room to grow but not so much I think he will potty in it. Caveat: He has been potty trained since 9 weeks. If your puppy is smaller/not potty trained then I'd advise finding a divider.
If at all possible, buy from your local store even if you need to borrow a truck (or rent for an hour for $20 from Home Depot or Lowes) because the problems I've read seem to stem from shipping, not the actual product.

Our Great Dane puppy HATED every other crate. This one gives him the room he needs, plus the visibility of his surroundings where he is comfortable from the moment he rests inside.

This was by far the best purchase that we made for our dog. She now has somewhere to lay when she is outside instead of the ground, since she thinks she is a princess.

I bought this for my new dog, who had some issues with separation. He tried numerous times to escape the crate whenever I was getting ready to leave but the crate was sturdy enough to keep him in. I was afraid the door hinge might break but it didn't. Very good, sturdy product.

We bought the large crate for our ever growing black lab and it is great! he has room to streach out and be comfy, and we like the fact that it easily folds up for travel . I would reccomend this product to anyone with a large dog...we also have two small ones for our small dogs and they love it as well....they always go to there kennel with no problems.

We are happy with this product overall. It is heavy and doesn't ship all that well. It was all hooked together and box in bad Shape. The worst part about putting it together was prying the edges apart to hook them together. We did have to put ties on the corners for reinforcement. The crate is huge so the two door option is nice depending on how much room you have. This was for our great Dane. The only other thing I wished for in it was that it would fold up but I imagine the size makes that difficult.

I bought one of these crates for my 100lb German Shepherd. For the past 3 years it has done a great job of keeping him in one place when I'm not home. It still works, day in and day out. Multiple times my pup has attempted escapes, but he is no match for this fine man made holding mechanism! Highly recommended product... BOOYAH

We purchased this create for our Great Dane puppy, he is calm and comfortable in the crate and goes into it often when he is tired. We know that he will grow into it and he has not destroyed it or the tried to open the latches. We originally had him in our foyer with a gate, then he started to chew on the electrical outlet so we had to do something, so we chose to give him his own room. Just like the kids, everyone has there own room and he loves his. Thank you so much for creating a product that is sturdy and sound.

I love this crate! My 3 year old Labrador/Doberman mix-Delta,loves this and when I tell her to go to bed she nods her head. It is roomy enough for large dogs like Delta and is secure so she doesn't wander around and terrorize the kitty. Once you have figured out how to assemble it the rest is easy. I recommend that you assemble it inside unless you plan on either keeping it outside or having it as a stylish decoration by your door!

This is a project for two but worth it! The pieces are heavy but that's what you want for your dogs home. My Great Dane puppy loved her new home. From 8 weeks to 3 months we used a divider to minimize her space to prevent accidents. She's now 60 lbs and 6 months and loves to either sleep stretched out in the middle or curled up inside this large space. We have a regular crate liner and a xxl bed inside, as well as her puppy bed that she just doesn't want to let go of yet...point being this is a crate even a Dane can grow into and be comfortable! This is a MUST have for Great Danes!!

The crate arrived bent by UPS and I had to pound it back into shape. It was terrible to assemble, probably due to the size and flimsy metal. The top sags in the middle and it just looks cheap compared to our other cage. Our rather large Newfoundland dog likes the extra space, but I think it looks cheap. Thank God he doesn't romp inside, I am not sure it would hold up.

This crate is huge. It would not fit in my 4Runner so I had to put it on top. It is very heavy/bulky so I had to have help putting it up there but got it down on my own. I rolled it end over end to get it inside. I have a bedroom for my dogs and I did have to have help putting it together. I have not had to use zip ties and my Great Dane has not yet escaped from it...yet. He has, however, cracked the plastic tray. I haven't had this crate a year yet (only about 8 months). Otherwise, I love this crate. I need to buy another one and will purchase the same thing.

I have a great dane and as a puppy I knew I would need a cage for him to grow in rather than buying about 5 crates. I bought mine before he was house trained and put a bed in the back and a puppy pad and his food bowls in the front and he still had room. Now that he's house trained I put a baby mattress in there and bought 2 attachable $13 steel bowls that I can adjust to his height as he grows by attaching them higher in the cage; so much cheaper and handier than buying expensive adjustable bowls or several sets of bowls. I put this together by myself in a fairly small area just by putting on one side (which requires it to be laid down flat and then stood up) leaning that side against the wall, and attaching the other side and I did it in about 15 minutes! If I call him to the couch he will lay with me for about 20 minutes and will get up to go lay in his crate, he loves it! I have another great dane who also gets in there with him (both 6 months, so not huge yet he's 71 lbs she's 48) but they will lay in there together and I leave the door open and they will stay in there all night. Will be buying a second one soon for her, def recommend!

Excape Artist Boxer

This crate is one of the best investments that we have made for our 65 lbs Boxer. While this crate is intended for dogs much, much larger than her, we purchased the larger crate to allow her more space to move around during the day (Boxers tend to be a bit hyper)
This crate is very large, so if you are considering purchasing it, be sure that you have a large enough space for it. Also, once put together, it is a real pain to take apart, so make sure you know where you want it before you assemble it. And it does not fit through doorways assembled, so you have to disasemble it to move it.
Another word to the wise, if you have an escape artist of a dog, like I do, you definately want to use zip ties (they come in black to match the crate) to extra secure it (expecially on the bottom by all of the connectors/hinges). Also, you will want to use the side entrance to let your pet in/out - the front entrance (the tall one) after a couple of solid shoves by your pet gets loose quite quickly. We ended up placing that side against the wall - also the front has an extra gap in the front where the tray slides in and out and they can escape through there.
The plastic tray on the bottom, if your dog likes to chew, this will not last long at all - ours lasted about 3 weeks before she had it completely shredded. Please do not get me wrong, it is made of good solid hard plastic, but Boxers like to chew and they can chew through just about anything.
We have had our Boxer a little over 3 years now and this crate has survived (still in excellent condition, minus the plastic tray on bottom) her entire puppy hood, escape artist and all. And we could not have been happier with the product and neither could she - now that is :)

Perfect fit!

This crate was just what my new Great Dane needed. Abraham loves it and it will fit him as he puts on the next 150 lbs. It is sturdy and relatively easy to assemble. If you are lucky enough to find it in the store near you, do it (the shipping can be a beast and picking it out in the store will assure you that you aren't getting one that was mangled in the shipping process).

So happy about this crate. Found it online, picked it up in store same day. Our Dane is scared of everything, terrified of being left alone. But here we are, her resting peacefully in the corner with her pillows and toys inside the crate, and us having just come back from errands. This poor dog does not do well being left at home. And yet now she doesn't cry, bang on the door of the crate, yell to where our neighbors call us while we're grocery shopping. She has space, she's content, she now trusts we will be home later. No more anxiety. Don't know why now of all times, but I'll give the crate the credit. If you have a big dog, this one works. You'll have to get used to the large piece of furniture in the corner, and it's not an invincible or mobile unit (set it up and leave it in place), but it is great. highly recommend. Put something under it so it doesn't scratch your wood floor. Use common sense, etc.

Just got this kennel home from the store and it was in terrible shape out of the box. Every piece was bent and as big as it is it makes it very hard to try and get them all straight. By the time I got it almost put together I decided I would be taking it back and buy a different brand from a different store... DO NOT BUY wish u could give a negative score..

Excellent crate.....HUGE!!!

March 17, 2012
by GreatDaneMom2Zeus
fromMemphis, TN
We recently purchased this 54" crate at Petsmart to replace the 48" that our Great Dane Zeus had grown out of relatively quickly, considering he is still growing! He can stand up and walk around in this crate with ease. The crate is very sturdy and easy to put together. It is very large and heavy will require a truck or SUV for transport. We had to drive over an hour away to make this purchase but it was well worth the drive to get the size crate needed for our Dane. You will not be disappointed with this crate!
