it is a very adorable carrier. but i didn't get it for my dog, i got it for my cat, because we just couldn't find a cute enough, carrier that was durable, light weight , and not flimsy. This was perfect at first. my cat used it for bed time, and since we were still working on getting her to like car rides, it was perfect for car rides. but i have to keep her in my room so she wouldn't bug my parents, since she gets up early. so i locked her in it. but since we kept her claws in and because she had skinny fangs, she was able to claw and chew up the plastic door. if it had a stronger door it would be perfect for both dog and cat. but don't get it for a cat. i'm not sure if it would be good for a small dog though. if the dog had skinny canines then he/she would be able to tear the door to. but i would still recommend this to a friend its a great carrier. we still use it to but only for a bed for winter to keep her warm.

Strange Smell, but very functional!

I bought this item because we were adopting a family member's 3 year old maltese that has had little training. My husband and I were very excited to see how compactly this carrier can be folded, and then how sturdy it is when assembled. For our first time use of the carrier, we noticed a strange odor that smelt very similiar to cigarettes. We assumed that it was a returned item that a smoker had used, so I immediately returned it and replaced it. To my surprise, that is just the initiall smell. It fades quickly, and is nothing that some fabreeze can't handle. We are still very satisified with the product because of it's functionality!

I have 4 chihuahuas so I have owned MANY carriers over the years and I have to say that I actually love this carrier.

This carrier was everything I was looking for.

* - Its tall dome shape is ideal - *

Her tall chihuahua ears have plenty of room when she sits and stands.

* - Its sturdy yet soft - *

The zebra striped top and bottom is made out of a hard foam but covered in soft fabric. The sides are a thick foam with lots of holes. I assumed when assembled that the sides would cave in but surprisingly they didn't. The sides are reinforced with 4 rods which provide great support. I was nervous about using the handle for carrying my pup but it is very sturdy and sewn in tight.I also second guessed the zipper quality but again I was surprised. The zipper on the door is easy to use and comes with a safety clasp. The top and bottom zippers are also easy to use and stay put when the carrier is assembled.

* - easy storage -*

the carrier fold away flat with just a few zips of the zipper.

* -I can access my pet two ways - *

yes the door is great for her to use for walking in and out of but I also like to be able to take her out through the top of the carrier.

* - it can double as a bed/ hide away - *

which is nice for my shy little girl.

other things I like about the carrier::

- its VERY light weight
- very roomy
- nice cushion included
- great look

My two critiques that I have of this carrier is

1: it has a strange smell. I think its from the unique materials used to make it. I STRONGLY disliked the smell. But i was abled to get ride of it using fabric spray. However every now and then the smell does come back.

2: Only one handle. I wish it had a shoulder strap or at least a second pair of side handles. Although the one handle is adequate it would be nice to have another set.

if you have a teething puppy or any dog that likes to chew this carrier is NOT for you, within the first day my puppy chewed on the zipper that closes the front door and now the door cannot be zipped up...waste of money

I wasnt sure on the size since they dont have it listed. Which its for dogs size 5- 15lbs on the box it says when I recieved it. And I have a 3lb yorkie so she had plenty of room still and it doesnt take up much space. Also so adorable and stylish. As soon as I put it together my yorkie went right in and wouldn't come out. It also included a little blanket for the bottom.
