I can't say enough positive things about this collar!
I have a 4 yr old dachshund that I rescued from the local shelter a couple of months ago. While I was at work all day, the dog barked and howled. Neighbors complained and I was on the verge of eviction. That is when the folks at PetsMart recommended this collar.
My dog learned quickly that he shouldn't bark. The second day of wearing the collar he did bark at the spray, which got him sprayed, which made him bark more (the instructions warn you that might happen in the beginning). Once he got calmed down, he was fine.
Now, my dog has a calmer demeanor overall. He is so much more relaxed and happy. I love this collar so much.

For those that say the battery falls out, if you turn the dial too far, the battery compartment does open, so you should only turn it to the "on" position.
It doesn't spray the dog EVERY time he barks, which is good. It sprays him fairly reliably, but sometimes on the second or third bark. Because it isn't constant spray after 1st bark, my dog has not gotten conditioned to 'collar=no bark" so even without the collar, he remains quiet.

I don't know why this product only has 2 stars, but it worked wonders on our Chihuahua (and you all know how chihuahuas are).
When we leave we cage her and she barks like crazy! we haven't gotten any complants from our neighbors but I'm sure it was only a matter of time till we did.
I can finally leave my apartment confident that she will not bark. When we first put the collar on it took her 3 sprays for her to stop barking.
I only gave the product 4 stars because now, when we cage her she's kind of scared of her cage and scared of getting sprayed. Also, the smell lingers in the room and also on my dog. Other than that the product actually does work and I feel much better using it than a shock collar.

We rescued a two year old beagle from a shelter. He is a wonderful dog, but he suffers from separation anxiety. So he would bark in the kennel for as long as we were gone. He would also bark at everything on a walk.
So I went to pet smart and this collar was recommend over the static. I told the girl I will give it try. So far it has worked, he will bark and a mist comes out and he whimpers and stops. This has been a life saver.
I am not sure why this is getting bad reviews I read the directions and put the collar on and it really works. I was relieved I did not have to give him the static one. It just seems wrong.
Bottom line this product works, just read how to use.
Maybe the other reviews had a faulty product.

I filled the collar with the citronella spray as instructed, put the collar on my dog, and gave it a try. My dog started barking and nothing. I took the collar off, tried refilling it thinking maybe I didn't fill it properly, put it back on my dog and nothing happened again. You'd think the people that make these things would include some way to test the device. I could definitely smell the citronella as I filled the collar but no such smell when my dog barked. I have no idea whether the collar was defective or whether the collar just wasn't sensitive enough to trigger a spray from my dogs constant barking. I definitely would not recommend this product.

I bought this, the second day my dog wore this the battery fell out. It would not stay together. Had to return it, big waste of money.

Since Petsmart doesn't carry the spray collar line that we have used in the past, we decided to give this bark collar a shot. Unfortunately, it had no impact on our dog's barking. It relies on a combination of vibrations and noise before it sprays so I think it just wasn't sensitive enough. We returned it within a week.
