I have a 12-14 year old Siberian Husky/wolf mix, who is proned to seizures, which can cause muscle damage. He is also proned to hip and joint problems and he does in fact have them, mainly due to a previous injury. His back legs have suddenly become shakey and I can tell he is in pain as he has trouble standing, going to the bathroom and even walking up the steps. We were worried we were going to have to take him to the vet or to the SPCA and we honestly feared the worse due to his age. HOWEVER, my husband and I bought these YESTERDAY and I have already noticed a slight increase of his mobility. My Sibe also takes these without a single issue involving the taste or smell. He LOVES them, which comforts me and my family as well. I feel this product is definitely worth it, especially if your senior pup is a true puppy at heart!

This product helped my older dog's arthritis so much! Same ingredients as prescription from the vet - works just as well.

I'm not a big review writer but I have to write one on this particular item. My husband and I decided to adopt an older dog, a 7yr old boxer. He has to have been human in another life, lol, he's super sweet, clingy and funny.well we didn't know he had arthritis until about one week after adopting him we noticed he was limping pretty bad. We took him to the vet and she gave him rimadyl and on his 3rd day he was breathing heavy and very very thirsty. I called the vet and she tried to convince me it wasn't the medication. So I stopped the rimadyl ASAP!!! And all his symptoms cleared up in a couple of days. I started giving him 2 81mg (low dose) aspirins twice a day and it helped but not lasting all day there would be days he could barely walk up the steps. So one day browsing in petsmart I came across this and yes I was skeptical but I was willing to try anything because seeing him in so much pain was horrible. He was more than willing to take this supplement lol he was literally slobbering for them and now 2mos later seriously no sham he no longer limps and even on the coldest of mornings (28 degrees or less) he acts like a pup and is ready to play when getting out of his kennel in the mornings. We now go for an hour long walk without him limping home. This supplement is a huge blessing just like our pup is. No price is too much when seeing him happy and pain free. You should try it, it's not going to work over night but give it at least 2weeks. Trust me its really worth it!

I've been buying these for quite a while and have had no problems with my dogs eating the beef flavored ones. Since they like peanut butter, I decided to try the peanut butter flavored tablets, and as I've seen in other reviews, they now refuse to eat them. I have to agree has changed. I am now looking for another brand to try instead of wasting my money hoping they'll eat the beef flavored ones.

We have an 8 yo Boston Terrier who has been having problems getting on and off the bed and just getting around in general. We noticed he had lost his spunk. We had an anti inflammatory from the vet from when he had hurt his paw so we gave him the last dose and took him back to the vet. They wanted to wait 5 days for the anti inflammatory to get out of his system and do blood work because he had also lost weight. In the meantime I started him on the GNC for seniors and we noticed he's running around like a puppy again! It's amazing and why I didn't think of it before is beyond me. I take the human version for my hips with good results. So as far as I'm concerned he will be on this until it stops working.

My dog suffers from severe arthritis in both her rear legs and she has a torn ligament. I started using GNC Hip & Joint Health a week after the vets diagnosis and saw results within a weeks time. She wasn't able to walk very well, or climb steps. She does take a pain pill a day, but I do strongly believe the pills from GNC have had a tremendous effect on her condition. She walks extremely well, can go up and down steps and even has been able to jump up on our couch. We are very very happy with this product and will continue to buy it for the rest of her life.

We have a 14 year old Border Collie mix. I had read that they were prone to hip issues with aging. So, I started her on these vitamins about a year ago. The benefits to her have been tremendous! Her coat, which was a bonus, is the most beautiful it has ever been, she has a lot of energy, still loves to walk and is doing really well. Her vet even asked me what I was giving her because her coat looked better then at her previous check up! Maybe the problems others are having is waiting until there is a problem instead of using these as a preventative supplement? I cannot say enough about the benefits my dog has received with these supplements! And she loves them as a treat, goobles them right down

I have three labs. My vet calls labs "garbage guts" - why? Because they eat anything. I have one that, left unchecked, will eat used Q-Tips from the trash and his own feces - one that eats used Kleenex from the trash and the lava rocks in my landscaping. They will not eat these tablets. I had been using a similar product from a different store and it did wonders for my Q-Tip eater - allowing us to bypass surgery! These are very similar in composition to the ones I usually get, so while at Pet Smart today I picked these up knowing I was low on our stock. Sadness. Money down the drain.

Bought for my Boxer. He will not take them, they make him throw up. We also tried to feed them to the neighbors 2 labs they also gagged and threw up. The tablets never touched their mouthes. The water effects and gagging came from the smell. I was also woundering if this was a bad batch but I can see there are several bad reviews on taste and smell.

Awesome

Our 9 year old doberman went from walking with a constant limp to puppy like mobility after three months of using these. We started with a different stage (one or two, I can't remember exactly) and saw a slight improvement. In a last ditch effort I bought these, stage 3 for senior dogs and was amazed at what a dramatic difference it made. She is getting out of bed without even stretching and running around better than she did a few years ago. The only down side is that she is not wild about the taste (or smell, I can't tell) so we have had to get creative when giving them to her. But based soley on preformance these get a thumbs up from me

We started with the original Hip & Joint Health for Senior Dogs and that worked well with our 8 year old black lab with hip dysplasia, until winter time. A Minnesota winter on an old dog is tough, and we switched to these ultra mega pills, he's a big dog and we give 4 pills a day. He was unable to get all the way up our stairs before, he would make it to the top and fall back to the bottom, now that we've started these pills he's back to jumping up onto the deck, playing fetch, and going up and down the stairs with ease. Yes they smell bad, especially the beef flavor, although our dog loves the taste. The peanut butter ones do smell better, but the dog seems to prefer the beef. But the smell is temporary, the results last. They WORK. Well worth the money, we were going to look into pain pills for him, and these alone solved all his problems!

I've used this product for years with three black Labs. They all benefitted from it with noticably retention in agility as they aged. Compared with other large, older dogs who don't have the benefit of this supplement, my dogs all demonstrated good agility throughout their lifespan. I begin giving these tablets at about age 5 or 6 and continue them for the rest of their lives. I highly recomment this product.

I have a 16 year old lab whose back legs stopped working...We had to pick his back legs up to get up. We started using this and he now he can get up and down/down stairs/outside on his own. We give him two pills in the AM and two pills in the pm. Huge difference. We honestly thought this was it for our dog...but these supplements are huge help and hoping for many more years...or at least more time with our dog.
Pros: easy to administer, works great, taste

I finally finish two bottles of these pills. Both of the bottles the smell was terrrible. My dog would not eat them. If I mixed the pills with his food, when done the only item in the bowl was the GNC pill. I needed to cover the pill with peanut butter, before he would take them. I called GNC customer service and was told that no one else was complaining. I guess GNC doesn't read reviews on their own products. Maybe after their sales down off, GNC will fix the probem until then I will be using another brand.

GNC must have done something to the formula of these pills. Our 2 old dogs loved them in the past. We basically had been giving them these pills as "treats" twice a day for the past 3 years.
However, this last batch we purchased, the dogs won't come close to them. I have to agree with the dogs, the pills now stink so bad, I can hardly open the bottle...
When comparing them to the older version, these are much more yellow than in the past...
It's too bad that GNC changed these, they worked so well in the past... but no more... I now will have to find a new type of pill to give them...
If GNC didn't change the formula (which they didn't mention they did), they may have a problem at a production location making bad pills....
I don't know either way, but I do know I will not buy these again.

Our senior dog (13+) absolutely hated these - no way we could get them into her, even slathered in peanut butter. They smell just terrible. So we took them back to the store. We bought because they didn't seem to carry our regular supplement, Cosequin Plus, anymore. Glad to find it online, so will order from here to get it. Meanwhile, my husband bought some cheap grocery store supplement, and within a week our dog went steeply downhill & was clearly having arthritic pain.

they say its it peanut butter flavored but it smells more like fish oil than anything. I am sure the product works great but my dogs will spit these out no matter what we do to entice them, soaking them in meat juices, wrap it in cheese.. nope.. not happening.
I bought another brand called 21st century its a lot cheaper and my dogs love them.

Sassy is a GSD x Rottie mix, now 30 months old. She was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and beginnings of arthritis in April.
I have only used the Peanut Butter flavor, but haven't found the aroma disagreeable. I give 2 tablets daily, and drop them into the food dish with her meal. No problems with getting her to eat them.
I cannot honestly say the improvements we've seen since May is due solely to the supplement. Her treatment has been multi-faceted, including getting her off of commercially manufactured food, weight loss, supplements (this product, vitamin, fish oil), and exercise. This is why I gave it 4 stars.
She is doing much better, and has lost almost 6 pounds as of her last weighing. She isn't as stiff as she used to be, and only needs Rimadyl occasionally - last use was 2 months ago. She's more active, and plays more now that she doesn't hurt as much.
