My (originally) semi-feral cat is recovering from a spaying and a respiratory illness. The only thing she would eat is chicken baby food but only if she could lick it from my finger. I needed something highly caloric that could get her back on track and on the advice of the petsmart associate bought this. It's wonderful! I put it on my finger and she licks it right off. I haven't noticed an increase in her appetite yet but at least I know she's getting what she needs for the time being, and gives me hope for her full recovery.

My 19-year-old cat has been ill with an upper respiratory infection. He has only been eating moist food over the last couple of years due to his age and his deteriorating teeth. He had pretty much stopped eating for a couple of days with this cold he has. I purchased this and he has been eating it off of my finger and has now regained eating, has gotten much better physically and has more energy. I highly recommend it.
Pros: easy to administer, works great

My cats can't get enough of this. One will lick it right out of the tube, the other licks it off my finger. It has a better consistance than the nutri-cal. Only down side is the cost.

I am a foster for a local rescue and take in anything from one week old bottle babies to older cats with health problems. I was desperate for something to help an elderly cat that had teeth removed and had lost half his weight. I bought this and even though he was still refusing most wet food went right after this from the tube before I could even put it in his paw. I also at the same time have a very sick kitten that we could not get to gain weight, I thought why not try this? He loves it. Important to add is the sugar in this helps their blood sugar levels. The difference in both cats is amazing. I have been using for two weeks and cannot recd it enough.

My elderly cat with cancer was losing weight rapidly. At first she did not eat the paste straight but would take it mixed with her wet food. Now she eats it plain right off of a spoon. It gives me piece of mind knowing she is getting the caloric intake necessary to sustain her.

My cats absolutely love it

I bought some of the high calorie booster stuff Petsmart used to carry a year or so ago in hopes of putting a little weight on my skinny male cat, but he didn't care for the taste of it. I decided to try again with this new GNC calorie booster and holy cow, he absolutely loves it and my other nursing momma cats love it too. I couldn't get him to eat the other stuff, even if I mixed it with wet food he wouldn't touch the wet food then. This stuff he is content with lapping up straight out of the tube. Its thick and gooey so it doesn't run out of the bottle, and the cats don't seem to mind the texture. I figured it'd be hit or miss, as it was with the other brand. Luckily it's a complete hit!
I only rated it 4 stars because it really expensive in my opinion. I only bought 1 bottle to test with the cats, so I don't know how well it works for putting on weight yet. Luckily it's on sale online right now and with discount codes I was able to get a bunch of bottles for ~5$ each (a much more reasonable price), so hopefully it'll help my skinny cats put on some weight (they eat a ton and always have food available but have high metabolisms because they're Devon Rexes). And if not then at least it's a tasty treat for my felines.

Bought for my 17-year-old kitty who's struggling to maintain healthy weight despite successful medical management of thyroid level, and it works like a dream come true -- she eats it right off the spoon and asks for more! I wait until she's eaten all i can get her to eat of my home-made high-cal supplement trick (blenderized low-sodium tuna in veg oil), then produce this, and she always goes for it. I love the thick consistency, as it stays on the spoon as she licks it yp. My ONLY problem w this is the price, which i find INSANE (11.69 sale). Come on, GNC, the markup on this has to be astronomical -- dosage says 1-2tsps/day, double if the cat is struggling to gain. At that rate, one tube lasted 4 days, and there is no way i can continue to spend $20/week for this long-term. Make it $7 a tube and i'll buy it forever and recommend to all my friends, including the large cat-rescue community. A big 5 stars for quality, 2 stars for cost; i averaged generously to 4 stars because my kitty loves it so much!

My cat had a few teeth out a few months ago. Apparently, that pain (before and after) had caused him to lose weight. Now, he can't really eat dry food. So, I feed him wet food twice a day. I spread this supplement on his paw once to twice a day. He seems to like it but I'm not sure that it is helping with extra nourishment - he just won't gain weight. Bottom line is that he eats it and I will continue to give to him.

My cat has a sinus infection which has also effected her teeth/jaw on one side and her eye on the same side. We are having real problems getting her to take any nourishment, and she is practically skin & bones. I purchased this with real hopes of getting some weight back on her! But even when mixed with tuna broth, chicken broth, baby food, whatever, she refuses to touch it. Guess some cats like it, like anything else, and some don't. :(

I will never go without this product. It does what it says it will do. If you are struggling to put weight on kittens this is the product to have!
I have two kittens that came to me sick. I was looking for a vitamin to enhance their immune system while getting well. The nice people at Pet Smart assisted me with my decision. In the first week the kittens put on .4 pounds. They have since put on more weight and are doing well.
This is a must have for you Medicine Cabinet.

My cat has a thyroid issue, IBS, and has had serious issues with weight maintenance. This product is a less expensive substitute to the stuff my vet sells. Sometimes this is the only product my cat can keep on his stomach and it is truly useful in getting him to take his multiple meds. He eats it straight out of the tube and even gets excited about taking his meds now. Thanks!!!
Pros: works great, price, taste, easy to administer

I used "nutrical" for as long as i could remember..then petsmart replaced that with this line...this is TERRIBLE ...runny..liquid and thin...i couldn't even get it to stay on my finger let alone give it to the cat. Same problem with the gnc hairball gel i tried from this line also. Over priced and very very poor quality.
Pros: none
Cons: expensive..poor quality.

My cat is suffering from minor weight loss and thinning hair and skin problems. She's getting old, but still has a lot of energy. I thought this product sounded like something that might help her. The back of the tube says "So yummy, you can even offer it directly from the tube or apply to your cat's paw". I offered it and she refused it. I mixed it with a little milk (as best I could because it's so thick), and she refused it. I put a little on her paw and she immediately shook her paw and flung the gel on me and the table she was sitting on. I called the customer service number on the back of the tube and was instructed to return the product to PetSmart. I paid $12.99. for the 3.5 ounce tube.
Cons: not so yummy

My cat is very picky when she was health. Currently, it is the only thing that she will lick off from my finger tip without much of fuzz. This product is currently the only thing that is providing her minimum energy to sustain her life.

I can't get any of my cats to eat this. I have one finicky eater and two who will vacuum the floors like a dog looking for food. None will take this from the tub, nor if I put it on the front of their paws. The finicky one shook her paw to get it off and it ended up on the walls. The other two rubbed themselves on the carpets. I tried mixing it through her food, and then she refused to eat the food. I had no problems with the prior product Petsmart stocked that was in a treat form. I asked a neighbor to give it to her cat and he would not take it either. This stuff is expensive and after I tried to give it to 4 cats, none will eat it. It is also very messy to administer. The treats are much cleaner. You also get more serving from the treats per package. I will not buy this agian, and I would return it if I could.
Cons: expensive not good value for the money, messy, smells bad, cats will not consume

My 12 yr old cat is severely underweight, due to a thyroid problem. Though she's on meds and eats every 2 hrs, she doesn't gain weight. She's VERY finicky about what she eats. She also has a bad problem with hairballs, and refuses to eat any hairball treatment I've bought.
I found this product at my local PetSmart and decided to try it. To my amazement, she LOVES this gooey gel! In fact, if I serve a canned food that she's not crazy about, before she walks away, I mix in some of this High Calorie Booster. She then eats the food! I am shocked. Also, though this product is not intended to help with hairballs, it seems to be helping her. I haven't seen a hairball on my carpet in about 10 days now.
I should add that the paste doesn't really give her much energy, though. She's still lethargic, but that could be a side effect of her meds.
I didn't rate the 'effectiveness' of this product, because it's too soon to see if it will help her gain weight. But I'm hoping it will.
Pros: my cat loves it
Cons: is gooey & doesn't rinse off easily

We had been using multi-vite supplement (a vitamin paste) from Petsmart for our cat who has kidney disease. Some days he hardly eats solid food and needs something. Anyway Petsmart stopped carrying it and now carries this GNC stuff. We bought this supplement and a bag of treats, spent almost $20!! The supplement is terrible! It is so thick and slimy that when the cat even licks it, it just kinda smears around, half tacked to whatever surface. Its impossible to even get it out of the bottle properly its so thick! It looks like nasty cooking grease! And of course our cat will NOT even touch it. Won't touch the treat either, they are kinda like clay pieces!! I'm sorry but I do not recommend the GNC line at all!
Cons: too thick for cat to even eat!, expensive
