my rats absolutely love this thing. they use it 24/7. only issue is i tried to attach it to the cage bars of my ferret nation and the 12" was so heavy it weighed down on the bars and made a gap. i advise if using the biggest one to keep it on the stand, otherwise you may ruin your cage.

this wheel will work for the first week you have it. After that it'll be noisy and break. i had to glue mine back together two times before i just gave up and bought a new silent spinner. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! WASTE OF MONEY!!!

Well my 2 pet rats enjoy this wheel. I know because it isnt that silent. They love it and the easy attach on the back they chewed it. But they love it if you can handle the noise it is ok. Note my rats tail kinks at an akward angle when running

Loud and flimsy.
Too small for chinchillas. (this is a 12'' running surface and they need a 15'' running surface)

Also chewed through easily - not good!

About 2 years ago, I bought the large wheel for my pet hedgehog, Truffles. He loved it! but I didn't. The wheel was VERY loud. At first, I thought something was wrong with it, so I went back and got a replacement, but then, my "replacement" was just as loud! For the first couple of months iI tried to ignore it, although it was very hard since his cage is in my room. So eventually I ended up just taking the wheel out every night. But that's not god for hedgehogs, eventually, I just returned the wheel and got a Carolina Storm Wheel. Overall it's a good wheel but I gave it a 1 star because of how loud it is! It pretty much sounds like someone banging a plastic pipe on another piece of hollow plastic! When you go to the store and just spin one of these wheels, it's pretty silent, but once your pet gets on it, and they are running on it with weight, bouncing up and down, it is LOUD! To see what I mean, go to Petsmart and find one of these wheels, then take two fingers and kind of "walk" on it (With your Fingers) Then, put more weight on it, go faster, and kind of "skip" with your fingers, like you pet would, and you will hear it!

my Syrian hamster loves this wheel so much! it is a solid running wheel, so i know my pet is safe and happy. Also, its easy to wash, unlike the metal wheels. it is a bit loud, as it knocks against the cage. it doesn't spin in a perfect circle, but that's not a problem. it rattles instead of squeaks, but the sound doesn't bother me. overall, this wheel is awesome!!!!!!! my hamster is happy, so i'm happy:)

It's really not a bad wheel at all for a medium cage. I have two rats that really like running on it, even if it did take a week to get used to. Honestly, It's not even that loud. Every wheel is going to make some noise, but this one isn't that bad at all. I can sleep with it in the same room. I really like the fact that its closed in and my ratties can't get hurt and it's easy to clean too. I'm pretty happy with it and so are my rats, they even sleep in it. Eventually they'll out grow it and I'll have to go a size bigger, but until then this is a good choice.

I have had this wheel for nearly two months now, and it works great. My hedgehog loves it. It gets pretty dirty fairly quickly of course, because there are no slats or holes for animal waste to fall out of, but that's to be expected when you buy a wheel like this (pretty much the only option for small animals with longer legs, like hedgehogs - their legs could fall through and get caught in wheels with slits). The only problem is, it is NOISY. My hedgie's cage is in the living room, and I can hear him running on it from my bedroom (and he runs pretty much all night). Luckily my living room is far enough away that the noise is not loud enough to bother me, but if your pet's cage is in your room or even in a room close by, then you may want to look into other wheels like the Silent Spinner, as the noise will most likely drive you nuts.

Worth a trip back to PetSmart

When we bought our hamster, we also bought a complete cage system with its own wheel. Well, the wheel was tiny and the poor little guy could barely walk in it let alone run in it like he was doing adamantly in the cage he was in at the store. Our local PetSmart is an hour away but I decided to go back there to pick up a larger wheel since the stores here did not even carry wheels and the online price tag including shipping was $20+ dollars everywhere I looked. I went straight to the cage our little guy was in and was happy to see that the store had the small wheel in stock, this one. It was the last one and only $8.99. This wheel was HUGE in the tri-level cage we bought, but we made it work because he immediately took to his beloved wheel and has been running happily ever since. It is noisy to the point that when I pass by our son's door at night, I can hear the little guy running like the dickens. Our son sleeps with a fan though so it's no trouble for him when sleeping. I am so glad our store had this life-saver in stock, but not as much as our little hamster.

I have noticed a lot of complaints about this being loud, but I think they're unjustified. I have had many wheels before this one, and the metal ones are much, much louder. I think if one finds this wheel loud, they probably find ALL wheels loud. If you want a quiet wheel, a Silent Spinner is the best route. But you need to buy the 12" wheel for a Syrian as they don't make an 8" one. So, it's cheaper to get a comfort wheel. You will hear it knocking against the side of the tank or cage sometimes, but if that bothers you, put your hamster in a different room. It doesn't bother me much, and I don't see where it is that loud, anyway. I bought the comfort wheel for my late Syrian and she loved it. She had a metal wheel before it, and THAT wheel kept me up all night. The comfort wheel was a welcome relief. I now have a long haired Syrian and he likes it, too. I wouldn't recommend it for long haireds, though, and suggest a Flying Saucer instead if you can get a hold of one. Nevertheless, the comfort wheels are safe (having a solid base), not really as loud as some people say they are, and have an 8 1/2" model that is perfect for Syrians. I recommend it for any Syrian owner.

Good For Syrian Hamster

I'm pleased with this wheel.
I purchased this 8.5" wheel for my syrian/teddy bear hamster. A hamster shouldn't have to arch its back when it runs and the size of this wheel lets my hamster run comfortably.
This wheel does make some noise when the hamster runs, but I don't keep a nocturnal pet in my bedroom so it doesn't disturb me and it also doesn't deter my hamster from running.
It's on a wire stand but I often find that she's slid it around her cage at night. The stand detaches and the wheel is supposed to be able to attach through a wire cage, however I found this to be impossible with the way the plastic piece was designed. I was really looking forward to mounting the wheel so it wouldn't move around, but other than that, I would recommend this wheel.

Do not get this especialy if you have a full grown chinchilla. The big plastic thing in the middle kept hitting my chinchillas back when she ran and she got annoyed of it so she chewed it off completely and it would not spin any more. she chewed it because it was plastic and it was WAY too small. It would be better if it were bigger, made of metal and did not have a big thing in the middle to keep hitting your chinchillas back. This would MAYBE be better for a baby chinchilla. This would be better for a rat. REMEMBER a good size is 15 for a chinchilla wheel and all chinchilla wheels should never be made of plastic!!! DO NOT GET THIS FOR CHINCHILLAS!!!

Only buy is if you plan to mount it to the cage bars. After weeks of not being able to sleep I started looking at silent wheels because loud doesn't describe how loud it actually is. After reading the reviews I saw this could be mounted on the cage. It doesn't actually say this on the wheel, I only found that out by looking at the reviews. Since its been mounted on the cage I don't have any issues I can only hear the faint sound of their feet on the wheel. I would recommend buying it online rather than the store.

Bought this wheel because my new hamster was huge. Most of the other wheels looked too small for my giant ham. It was pretty noisey compared to the other wheel I owned and I would often wake up in the morning to see it had fallen over during use. Also on a shallow note, the color is so blechh
