I didn't read the ingridients because I though Purina is a "premium" dog food. But then, I read it after I bought it.

Poultry by-product meal? Corn Gluten? That junk is what makes your dog worse.

"Premium"? Forget it.

The only thing my dog ate from that food was the chicken shreddings.

I was glad I switched brands. I will rarely ever buy my dog purina dog food again. I'm looking at Innova now.

My Dogs Love this formula and I'm happy w/results

I've gone through so many brands of food over the last year and settled on the Purina One Smart Blends Small Bites Beef because my dogs like smaller kibble and they like the shredded pieces. They have done well on it. However, it didn't contain fish oil and or fish meal and I wanted to see that in the formula (good for brain, joints and mobility). Well, I saw this at the local Petsmart store and the bag said:

"Animal feeding tests using Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) procedures substantiate that Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Formula Adult 7+ Dog Food provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs."

And it contained fish oil and fish meal - I jumped for joy!

So I called Purina and they confirmed I could feed this to all my dogs even though 2 of them are under 7 years of age. Purina did recommend large breed dogs stay on a large breed puppy formula for two years.

Why did I decided to switch? I wanted to find a formula with:

(1) great taste - my dogs will eat it every time I put it down
(2) contains fish oils and or fish meal for EPA/DHA/Omegas - good for joints, mobility, brain health and nervous system
(3) smaller kibble like the Purina One Small Bites and other Kibbles I've tried
(4) good stools, healthy coat and clean teeth and breath
(5) supports the immune system
(6) comes from a trusted brand
(7) fits my budget

Purina met all these objectives. And in all the years I've owned dogs (soon to be 40 years old), Purina is a brand I've used the most and I trust them.

I've started ordering this for my sister's dog now as well via the Petsmart.com website.

I have a Purebred German Shepherd, Daschund and a mixed breed.

Pros: taste dogs love, shredded pieces, good stools, healthy coat, trusted brand, immune support, epa/dha/omegas from fish, perfect kibble size, clean teeth and breath, easy to digest
