I have had the short forehead version of this ornament for 2 or 3 months. I don't understand why people are having problems with this ornament. I have had no problem with the paint on this ornament. I have mine in a fresh water tank with a betta fish.

Quickly deteriorates when in tank

It looks pretty on the Petsmart shelf (and in online pictures) but once in the tank it deteriorates quickly; lasting maybe 3 or 4 weeks at best. It turned a milky-grey color at first (I originally assumed it may have been just general "crud" from the tank, but it wouldn't scrub off). Next the paint began to bubble. I promptly removed it from the tank (couldn't be healthy for my fish!). Its been sitting on a shelf and the color has returned to red, but I wont be putting it back in the tank. Avoid the hassle and buy another product.

This ornament is beautiful to look at, but not to use in the tank. I suggest buying it as a paperweight or as decoration outside your tank, just not IN the tank. You can read all the issues with this product in the other reviews here.

It will look great in your tank for a week or two, then appears to fade in color (actually just algae and slim forms on it). It ends up looking like a gross little pink rock at the bottom of your tank.

For those who like Asian decor, i would absolutely buy it. I would buy it, put it on a shelf or desk and enjoy it that way. I would never buy it to put IN an aquarium though. Buy a statue, dragon or rock formation instead if you want a tank decoration.

Stylish, while it lasted! Won't fade in fresh water, really? This ornament lasted all of a week then it started looking scummy. After I took it out, I realized it was not scummy, it was just the paint coming off! Not worth the price at all, don't waste your money.

Not only were these expensive, but they start to bubble up and flake after only a few weeks in the tank. I do not recommend this product.

This ornament is terrible! I really liked the look and my fish loved nibbling algae off it. About a month went buy and I noticed the paint was coming off and it was peeling. I took it out and it disintegrated in my hand.

I put this in my freshwater tank. After 2 weeks it began to flake; the red finish came off the nose and a few other spots. My the third week it looked all chipped and degraded. Not only did it look bad, I feared the leeching would be harmful to my fish. I took it out to throw it away. It felt slimy and gross in my hands. It felt like the finish was disintegrating. I have used poly resin ornaments that eventually become too porous and have to be thrown away but that you get your money's worth out of before having to be replaced. I've also used porcelain ornaments that seem to last forever if you keep cleaning them. I really don't know what this is actually made from. It arrived just loose in the box with no tag or label or anything. It reminded me of those pagodas that were sold for fishtanks a few years ago. They chipped and wore away quickly like this does. But even they didn't feel this disintegrated when you removed them from the water in 3 weeks.

Cons: price, flimsy
