After using open litter boxes and becoming tired of all the litter and fecal(one of my cats would do her business right at the edge and it would fall onto the floor) on the floor I purchased the Booda Clean Step Litter Box. My problems have since been solved. My cats love this litter box. It is easy for them to climb into and there is no litter on the floor anymore.

I picked this litter box because my kitties are getting old, and one has arthritis in her hips. I thought the steps would be helpful, and might keep our laundry room floor from being covered in litter that eventually gets tracked into the house.
I thought I had done my homework on this box before I bought it, but evidently, not enough. The dimensions on this site aren't accurate. I measured the space we usually keep our box and then looked up the measurements on here, and was sure the box would fit. The box doesn't fit. But we were willing to live with that, if it meant less litter on the floor.
Less litter on the floor is the ONLY thing this box is good for.
At first, the cats would go all the way in, but they did their business right at the entrance, which is only a problem because of the wonky shape of the litter area. It resulted in a Great Lake of Urine in the corner, even when we scooped every day.
I thought it was kind of a pain and a little gross, but nothing we couldn't work around. Unfortunately, this has escalated to become its own cat-urine water feature, as the cats now go at the top of the steps, so that the liquid cascades down to fill the little well at the bottom. As the well is not all that large, within two uses, it overflows and there is urine all over the floor.
Needless to say, after cleaning out the entire (GIANT) box and mopping my laundry room floor TWICE this weekend, I will be spending my lunch hour looking for a new box.

We have 3 male cats and they started using this one right away. One of them seems to like going on the outside of the box all the time. This stopped that issue, thanks to the little entry way. Almost no litter gets outside and no odor either! Only issue I have is that the lid doesn't actually lock on but it fits snug enough so that we've had no leakage problems. It's easy to clean and we plan on getting a second one and replacing our box style one.

I actually got this a few years ago. I like how the hood is easily removed and replaced, and the steps are great. One of my cats has urinary problems and the steps are good at catching any... "abnormalities" that may show up. The cover locks on well so that there aren't any messes either.

I wanted a litter box that was easy for my 18 year cat, who suffered a broken hip & leg at a year old. The steps on this product meet that need, she has no problems! My other two cats (2 & 5 years) also love this one the most. I have three hooded litter boxes (the smaller one like this without steps and a traditional rectangular one), but this one is big enough for them to move around inside, get comfortable & have some privacy. It's the favorite and the one I clean twice a day... the others only once a day, even though they are smaller. I highly recommend this for a cat with mobility issues. Oh! I also LOVE that they don't track litter out of this one, barely any! It all goes on the steps and you can sweep it aside & out of the box! I don't have any issues with bags cause I bleach the entire thing in the bathtub, dry with towel, fill with litter and scoop as needed. Once the litter is down pretty low, I dump it all out & clean again. Would be helpful if my local PetsMart actually carried the replacement carbon filters in store, which is why I'm on here, to buy a few of those & mats for my other two litter boxes (to prevent litter from tracking!). Awesome product!

I've been using this litter box for about 4 months now and liked it at first, but I've since discovered some issues with it. First, they don't sell the replacement bags in PetSmart store, even though they sell the box there. So, to get the right ones that fit, you'd have to order online. I tried buying standard bags, but not being the right shape, they can't do the job right. Second, I think due to the shape with the lid on, it's hard for the cat to move around. He inevitably then urinates near the edges, and sometimes it then leaks down the sides and onto the floor. Lastly, it's too bulky for easy clean up. On the plus side, the filter does reduce smell from escaping and the steps do help get excess litter off cat's paws before landing on the floor.

I have 2 of these litter boxes for 3 cats. One box is used by a male cat: he manages to spray in such a way that urine gets outside the box and underneath. Because if him, I am going shopping for a deeper cat box with a better fitting lid. The other drawback with this litterbox is that now and then one of my kitties gets "confused" and faces the wrong direction and we get a nasty urine puddle at the bottom of the ramp.
The litter box works great when used by female kitties that understand which way they should face.

Absolutely love this box!!! Well worth the money, the stairs really keep the litter left on the paws to a minimum. MP is seven years old and was hit by an automobile. I did not want to make her into a tripod so she drags her front right leg, so I was intrigued by the box when I saw it in the store. With this box she can climb the stairs do her business and come back down. With the other boxes she was having issues jumping in with her impairment. THANK YOU !!!

After trying traditional litter boxes for our cat, we bought the Booda. I absolutely loved it, and our cat was more than pleased with it. She took to it automatically. The steps have grooves on them that help keep the litter that remains on her paws from coming out. You do get a little litter on the floor but it is alot better than all the litter you get with a standard box. Also, it holds a lot of litter and room for a filter to help keep the odor down. I would highly recommend the booda to anyone that owns cats.

I bought this litter box the day before I adopted my kitten. I never had a problem with it. At Christmastime, I went home to visit my family for 2 weeks. I had purchased a cheap litter box for my parents' house for the time we were there. I then learned the meaning of "litter tracking." Not to mention my kitten sometimes had accidents because the box was too small! The Clean-Step Dome litter box is awesome! The stairs keep litter tracking to a minimum! And there are no accidents! When I went to buy this litter box, I was actually discouraged from doing so buy a sales associate because she said the top didn't clip on. I find it doesn't matter that the top doesn't fit securely - you have to take it off all the time to scoop anyway! And I've never had a problem with my kitten dismantling the litter box, and she even jumps on top of it all the time! It is a great product.

My husband and I adopted a 17 pound cat, he isn't fat just big bodied. We had 3 litter boxes and one other cat. Our new kitty figured out how to use the "normal sized" cat boxes by having just his back half in there for business, then just his front half to cover and scratch! We looked around for a litter box big enough for him and found the Booda Dome, both the cats took to it immediately and our big guy fits in the litter partition comfortably! We now have 2 of these and they are the favorite boxes of all our cats, so much that I can use a completely new litter in the box and they will use it because of loving the box that much!

Its a very nice concept but the top doesnt stay attached. The little clip that is supposed to hold it snapped off with in the first few weeks and now it just sits on top with nothing to hold it together.

This is one of the best designed boxes. The steps keep the tracking of litter with my four cats. It helps with the messy foster kittens and keeps the litter mostly contained. The dome allow my 13 lb long hair rescue to move around and affords all the cats privacy. If only it cleaned itself :)

Great box

We have been using one of these boxes for several years. We have 2 very large Maine Coon cats and they love this box. We have a regular box and the Booda going at the same time and the mess from the regular box is really bad. The Booda is great. Yes, some litter does get tracked out but it vacuums up very easily. Our big kids have never had a problem with getting all the way into the box and have never peed on the stairs. I would say that if your cat starts peeing outside of the box he is either just getting lazy or is telling you that he doesn't like something such as not clean enough or doesn't like the litter or it has been permeated with a smell they don't like. We are going to get another one now to replace the regular box so that we can control the mess of litter. If you use a crushed pine or feline pine litter you don't get the dust of regular litters, which are harmful for your cats respiratory health. The box gets scooped twice each week and cleaned out once a week. Cleaning it is so easy. My husband picks it up and throws it in the shower with a disinfectant cleaner and the job is done. This is the greatest littler box ever invented.

All other cat litter boxes I have purchased in the past have left litter around the outside of the box, as well as scattered on the floor. This litter box has a grooved ramp that helps eliminate that problem. It's spacious, easy to access and stylish. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I bought this because I discovered my new dog had a taste for kitty poo. She is too large of a dog to be able to stick her head into the dome so it is perfect for issues like that. I found another cat later and found that between two cats, the dome needs to be cleaned frequently, as it is small for two cats, but ideal for just one. Therefore I bought another dome, so two dome boxes for two cats, and the dog stays out of it all. Great buy!

I got this because I was adopting a kitten and already had a dog. Having had a cat and dogs in the past, I know how tempting a litter box can be for a dog. I thought this was the solution. I should have listened to the adoption coordinator and paid attention to the reviews of this product. Not only would my kitten refuse to use this with the lid on, the liners that came with it were way too small and the filter cover would never stay closed. After struggling for two months to get my kitten to use it with the dome on, I decided to transition to a self cleaning box. Don't buy this product! Get a cheap litter pan, it works just as well.

This litterbox is HUUUUUUGE. But the litter area is very small. The sides are sloped, and my kitten doesn't like having a wall in his face. So he doesn't have much space to do his business in here. He has pooped on the side wall (between the stairs and the litter) on multiple occasions and also stepped in his mess. Also, the steps do NOT catch or stop the litter on his paws. I am still picking up just as much after him. Basically, this is a huge litterbox that is small on the inside and doesn't do what it is advertised to do.

We got a beagle mix when she was 4 months old. She's now a little over a year. Recently married and joining households, my husband brought his 10 year old cat. Needless to say it's been an adjustment.
This past Tuesday I came downstairs to find the dog eating from the litter box. I immediately went online to find a solution. Since he's an older cat we could not put it behind a gate since he can't jump over it.
I came across the Booda and all the reviews that related to dogs eating litter were positive. So we decided to give it a try.
So far so good. She is unable to get her head up into the litter box.
My only complaint, which others here thought was great is that there are no clips/brackets to hold the top to the bottom. It just lifts off and we were concerned in the store that our dog may eventually stick her head in there and flip off the lid. Only time will tell.
She ate the cat food this morning and I'm honestly thinking about buying another Booda to put his food in so this poor cat can eat in peace.
Other's have noted that the Booda is large and I have to agree. The thought of having two of them seems a bit overwhelming but our only other option would be to put in a cat door in the laundry room which is something we're really trying to avoid.
