Great product! Alot of the other reviews are extremely inaccurate. Other people have been complaining about corn..they say corn is just a filler, difficult to digest, causes hotspots and a bad haircoat when in reality corn provides essential fatty acids, is a high quality protein for musce and tissue growth, highly digestible carbohydrate, provides natural antioxidants. The reason it appears first on the ingredient list is because corn is heavy (ingredient list goes by weight). Corn also only causes allergies in less than 2% of dogs, so quite rare. Another concern was the by-product...there is absolutely nothing wrong with by product! By-product is just something produced while making something else. Ex. making turkey soup for lunch would be the by-product of cooking a turkey for the previous nights dinner!

After reading through the ingredient list I was a little shocked to see what they put in this food. I'm not a dog food snob by any means, but this food is rather awful. The first ingredients are corn and soybeans. Where's the meat???? It's not listed till the third ingredient and it's chicken by-product meal. That's right before the powdered cellulose (added specifically as a bulking agent to keep your dog from getting the runs). I hate to give this food such a low rating, but it really is not good at all.
Cons: fillers, by-products

The first ingredient: whole grain corn. Corn is a filler, as well as a common allergen for dogs. PLUS THE FIRST INGREDIENT! You know what that means? That there is more corn than anything in this food. In the wild, dogs don't graze on corn. They eat MEAT. You don't get meat until the third ingredient, and thats a BY-PRODUCT MEAL. Any idea what by-product is? EVERYTHING. Feet, beaks, feathers, eyeballs...all ground down to a pulp and thrown in there. Then we have powdered cellulose. Care to take a gander as to what that is? A NON-DIGESTIBLE plant fiber made from cotton or sawdust. It is used to dilute the number of calories per serving and to give the feeling of fullness after eaten. Then we come to CORN GLUTEN MEAL. Those are the left-overs, after the GOOD part of the corn is gone, thrown in there as ANOTHER filler. It ups the protein level in the food, which means the dog is not getting the RIGHT kind of protein. I could go on and on about the rest of the terrible ingredients, but we'd be here for a while. The verdict? DON'T FEED YOUR DOG THIS FOOD! Its nothing but a terrible filler food. Do yourself a favor and learn about dog foods. Your dog will live a longer, healthier life on a better food with better quality ingredients. Sure, it might taste good to your dog, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN ITS GOOD FOR THEM!

I have 10 yr old poodle with diabetes and would not eat the prescripition diet food so my vet recommend the small and toy breed light formula because of the high fiber because high fiber diet help the diabetic dogs by helping to stable the glucose. And Bear really loves this food and so far his glucose has been fine and Bear loves the little bites. Thanks Science Diet
Pros: awesome food for diabetics
Cons: none

I received a sample of this product to try from BzzAgent. My dog has a history of seizures that are food triggered (certains dye & preservatives) so I was nervous to try a new food. I slowly switched his Wellness to Science Diet. I was very surprised that he loved the tasted. With the Wellness he never ate the kibbles dry, only when mixed with canned food. With the Science Diet he loves them dry. We went with the Light formula since he is a little overweight, but I've not seen any further weight reduction. Overall, I'll continue feeding this product as long as he is happy.
