We purchased this waterer station just before Christmas of 2012 for our two Britts. We did not try this system until 25 Feb 2013. From the first day of use this sytem will not keep a flow of water in the bowl. We have tried every position we can find but nothing works. It is now more work to keep water in the bowl for our pets than when we used a bowl alone. Very disapointed.
Pros: easy to clean, Spillproof
Cons: doesn't work

This water station is pretty nice. The nice thing about the container for the water, is you don't have to flip it over for the water to come out. The top is also big enough to get your hand into, to wash it-or it can be put in the dishwasher. The water stays pretty clean. The whole thing is pretty durable, spill proof and it's also slide resistant. I haven't had a problem with it leaking or anything and it holds a good amount of water.
Pros: durable, Slide Resistant, easy to clean, Spillproof

I bought the Medium one. Not shown here for some reason... The stainless bowl is removable, so it's easy to clean only that. It doesn't leave dirty water residue if you wash it every time you refill it back up. I mean wash, not just rinse. It lasts my cat and my dog almost 2 weeks before I have to refill it. The only con is that the white barely transparent water storage part of it makes it hard to see how much water is left. After refilling, when you turn the bottle upside down, the water doesn't spill everywhere, which is the BEST! The water only flows when the bottle is twisted back onto the bowl stand.
Pros: durable, Slide Resistant, easy to clean, Spillproof

If you have a cat who prefers to drink standing water in a bowl instead of a motorized water fountain, this is the waterer for you.
We originally purchased a fountain for our cat and while he was curious, he never liked drinking from it and oddly enough, was happy to drink water readily available in a bowl. We thought this waterer would mimic the bowl we had (both are stainless steel and silent) and we were right. Our cat learned within a few hours that this water dispenser was his new water bowl and he is always using it!
I'm not sure about other customers saying that their unit flooded, but I know that if they tried to use the feeder as a waterer, that would definitely happen. Otherwise, the water dispenser has a tightly locking insert that can be used with or without filters. Either way, when the water level in the bowl gets low, an air bubble gets exposed to the opening and fresh water flows into the bowl. It's not going to recirculate water, but fresher water will replenish the water left in the bowl so that overall, the water source is cleaner.
We had to buy filters from another source, but they are also available online from directly from PetSafe. The whole unit is really easy to use, clean and the only sound it makes is when the water level gets low and water pulls through the filter, but our cat has learned to ignore that and sees it as a sign that his bowl has been replenished.
Pros: durable, easy to clean

This water bowl flooded my floor in 4 minutes. Thought I had done something wrong. I tried again and tightened it according to the imprinted instructions on water container. chug chug chug chug for 4 minutes, no stopping...flood...(tried 3 times, in sink) has to be a faulty valve .. its a shame...I live 35 miles from where PetSafe makes these things...I am so angry I want to walk in and slam it on their "Welcome desk" and spout obscenities at the engineers for their total lack of regard in design of form and function. Did they test this? Doubt it... Then again, I'm a sucker for expecting a $34.00 "engineering marvel" to work I will stick to my yellow glass cake bowl.
Cons: poor quality, leaks, doesn't work

I have been using various water containers for our dogs (big and small) and I have found it to be the best design in years (20+). Just make sure that it has the mechanism that allows the water to feed slowly before you purchase.
Pros: durable, easy to clean, Spillproof

This is the best water dispenser I have found so far. I am able to wash the entire tank, fill it and carry the tank by it's black carrying handle, which is flat so you can set it on a counter and walk away. It doesn't leak, unless you have the jar neck on crooked or loose and there is a small black flap inside the lid that must be in place if you are using a filter. Downside is I cannot find the filter anymore. In our humid climate, it is necessary to use the filter so as to keep water fresh and from algae build up. It is also dishwasher safe.

I looked at many other designs and didn't care for the "water bottle" look. This is different, but not fancy. The cap on the top does nothing, so it's total aesthetics. I purchased the 1 gallon model (medium). I really like the way it looks.
You fill the water in at the bottom. The opening is about 5" in diameter, so it's really easy to clean and add water without getting it all over the place (no funnel needed). There's a spring loaded plunger that keeps the water in when you flip it over. No mess at all; I even shook it up and it didn't leak.
Once you place it in the stainless steel reservoir (love that it's stainless steel, much more sanitary), the plunger depresses and the water starts to fill up the bowl. You twist it into place (it slightly locks) and the water comes out even faster. But don't worry, it levels out at a certain point. The water will always stay about 3/4" from the top.
My dogs love this and I can't be happier. I got a stainless steel bowl, no mess, easy to clean, water bowl for them.
Note: You can also purchase a filter for the water reservoir (I didn't purchase it).
Pros: durable, easy to clean, Spillproof

Flow control value? Certainly not on the one I just received. A huge hole that as soon as I try and flip it to get it in the bowl allows all 2.5 gallons to spill all over my floor. There is no way to fill/refill without going thru this everytime. It's on it's way back pronto unless someone can tell me how I can flip a 2.5 gal container of water with a massive opening in the bottom of it, into the bowl portion and not flood my house.... Where is this "flow control value"? Jeez, what a useless item.
Cons: leaks, doesn't work

Much easier to fill and clean. You do not have to flip the container over once filling and get water everywhere. Opening in the container is large enough that you CAN get your hand inside to clean or better yet take apart and put in the dishwasher.
