On a recent trip to PetSmart!
My five year old dachshund began having health problems about two years ago. He was constantly getting ear infections, and would develop a strange rash on his inner thigh area which would turn into sores. We were spending so much money at the vet on ear ointment and antibiotics every month. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was going on with him. Additionally, his coat would get very dull and have dandruff. I began researching pet allergies and found that these could all be symptoms of a pet with food allergies. (He was previously on a mid-grade food, or so I thought). After switching him to Blue Basics, ALL of his problems have dissapeared. We haven't had to visit the vet at all (besides regular checkups). I am fairly certain that his allergy is to wheat. I would strongly reccomend trying this food if you have a pet with allergies.

One of our dogs has MANY allergies, so its hard to find a dog food that she can eat. This product is great! They love it, and we can tell because at meal time, they both have their heads in their bowls. Their breath has completely lost all bad scents as well, which is just an added bonus. Its a little more costly, but seems like the best choice for our dogs.

Unfortunately we just found out my younger dog is allergic to most types of meat. We were so lucky to find this diet, as she is doing so much better.

Aksel, relaxing!
My 14 month old yellow Lab, Aksel, had food issues from day one. Wouldn't eat the Eukanuba the breeder said to feed, just two bites and then he screamed to go outside and have explosive diarrhea. Tough start. Off to the vet and put him on I/D dry dog food, which worked, but I didn't like the ingredients - chicken by product meal, corn gluten meal, etc. YUCK! Find out, through many trials of different puppy and dog food, he is most likely allergic to chicken in dog food. Hard to find a dog food without chicken in some form. He ate Merrick Cowboy Cookout (beef based) for awhile, then they changed the formula and the protein was too high (he has a heart problem). Did a lot of research over this past year that we've had him and countless bags of dog food that went back to the store, too many to count. Decided to try the Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato for sensitive/allergies. He is doing really well on it! Still mixing in a little I/D until we get to 100%, but no more diarrhea and loose stools, he doesn't have gas, he likes the food, and his coat is amazing! Really soft and full. He isn't biting and scratching his feet anymore. I am appalled at the terrible ingredients in a lot of the dog food out there - ethoxyquin (sp), propylene glycol (antifreeze!), by products, meat and bone meal, artificial flavors and colors. Blue has NONE of that! Just good healthy ingredients. Yes, it is expensive, but so is everything else these days. I'd rather pay more money for a good dog food that I can feel confident feeding my boy. I highly recommend this food and the whole line of Blue seems to be great, across the lines. Good job, Blue Buffalo!

Our 11 yo shorthair had developed what turned out to be food allergies. After months of diarrhea and multiple visits to the vet, we figured out it was his food. The simplicity of the ingredients on This dog food cleared up his diarrhea within days! It has helped us salvage our carpets and given our dog is energy back! I can't recommend this highly enough.

My Silky Terrier has skin allergies to most items in many dog foods! When this food was recommended to me by a PetSmart associate I didn't know it was going to be this good! He has been eating it for almost a year and he no longer scratches his skin! It is an AMAZING food for dogs with and without food sensitivities! He really likes the turkey and potato flavor!

I have a cocker spaniel that has suffered from allergies and ear infections over the years. She would constantly lick at her paws to the point of getting open sores on them. She had no energy and would sleep the day away. I have paid thousands of dollars in vet bills trying to figure out what was causing her skin conditions, ear infections, goopy eyes, scabs on nose etc. Within days of switching to Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato Recipe there was such a noticeable difference in my dog. All of the scabs on her nose disappeared, she hardly licks her paws anymore, her ear infection is clearing up (her entire ear canal was closed and is opening up again). She is almost 12 but acting almost like a pup again. She is up and alert most of the day now. I know it seems unbelievable, but it is true. I cannot recommend this dog food enough. It is more expensive, but what I think I may save in vet bills by feeding my dog this food over her previous dog food will more than make up for the price. And my dog loves it! Please do yourself and your beloved pet a favor and try this food if your dog suffers from allergies.

I have a new English Bulldog and rapidly found out about their "active" digestion - they pass gas - a lot. I accepted the reality but then I noticed his stool was becoming too loose. The vet put him on a special food and the stool returned to normal. I did my homework and found Blue Basics and took him off the food "made for Bulldogs" and poof... healthy, crazy, firm stool and yes still a few airbombs once in awhile, but I'll trade that any day for seeing him lively, healthy and happy.

when i got my dog about 3-4 months ago and started feeding her a high quality food, she started having diarrhea every single day, up to 5 or 6 times a day, sometimes she couldnt even make it through the night. i took her to the vet and they gave her some pills, it instantly got better, then as soon as the meds were stopped, the diarrhea was back, and we went back to the vet. she was prescribed another round of the pills and it got better again, then came back once she finished the pills again. although the vets never made a diagnosis, i figured out by myself that she was most likely reacting to something in her food, which seemed to be lamb and grains. after switching to this food, mixed with wellness core and 95% turkey canned foods, as well as raw food, she is doing much better, no more diarrhea!

My dog had very bad allergies, and within 3 days of feeding him this food they had subsided. His eyes cleared up (he had really runny eyes), his runny nose cleared up and no more sneezes. He seems to like it better as well. I am happy that I tried a food change, and I am sure he is happy also.

2 puggles and a min pin
After feeding our 2 puggles and miniature pincher all sorts of brands we started feeding a raw diet. This was great and healthy no problems. Life can get busy so we went back to dry food and the dogs ate it no problem. I will add warm water as a treat and they go crazy at dinner. It looks as heathy as you can get for processed food. It hasn't caused allergies or loose stool.
Pros: picky dog ate it no problem
Cons: fifty bucks a bag but what hasn't gone up in price

My dog has allergies and a sensitive stomach. She would either throw up or not eat other expensive foods that were also for limited ingredient diets. So, it is wonderful to see her eat all of her food with gusto and not throw it up! Her coat is shiny and she seems happy and healthy. If I could suggest one thing to Blue Buffalo it would be to make a limited ingredient diet for high energy dogs. It's not on the market...at least from what I can find. She is just under 50 pounds, I am feeding her 4-5 cups per day, and she is still really skinny (although muscular). It adds up on my budget!
Pros: sensitive for stomach and allergies, according to my dog taste
Cons: expensive

We have 2 basset hounds and have tried many high end/holistic/natural/organic dog foods. They eat twice a day and would usually leave half a bowl full each time. One of our bassets has mast cell tumors and has had 2 surgeries to remove 5 tumors. Now, we are in an aggressive prevention mode- no chemical cleaners around the house, we use tumeric in their food, have regular blood tests and exams and we had to find a good, healthy dog food that they liked.
Enter Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato dog food. Our dogs now clean their bowls and have so much energy it is incredible. They are so much more playful than before and seem happier-if that is possible. (They are exceptionally spoiled.) I have absolutely no doubt it is as a result of this dog food. Our basset who is sick used to have allergic reactions and his muzzle would swell after eating some other brands and we have had to switch after the first bowl out of the bag. The quality ingredients used in this food give us such a peace of mind as we know that the makers actually care about the food they prepare. The simplicity of the food is an absolute plus and we are so grateful that this is available. I highly recommend this for dogs that have sensitive stomachs or have illnesses or allergies. This food is truly a Godsend for us.
Many thanks for filling a void in the dog food industry.
Pros: excellent for dogs with illnesses or allergies
Cons: none!!!!

My cats don't really care for it, but I'm trying to get them to eat it by mixing it with their old dry food. The ingredients in this product are GREAT for your pet. I spent over an hour going through the other brands of cat food and reading their ingredients, this brand was the only one I was impressed with. It is worth the cost!
A rep from Blue Buffalo spent about a half hour with me in the store. She was telling me all about the product and explaining how it is different than other products. I went to Pet Smart again with the intention of buying something my cats might eat, instead purchased another bag of Blue Buffalo solely on the ingredients. I started to go through all of the other brands again, including cheaper brands and the premium brands, still couldn't find one I was comfortable feeding my cats. I will simply mix formulas of Blue Buffalo and see if my cats will like the mixture instead. Once I get them to eat this on a more regular basis, I will no longer consider purchasing a lower quality cat food or even a premium cat food because of the ingredients.
The first ingredients in Blue Buffalo are MEAT!

This food has great ingredients! Before even getting my dogs I did years of research into what I would feed them. Now I've had my Doxie and Beagle for almost a year and they have been on Blue their whole life with me. I hope that by feeding high quality food my boys will have longer, fuller lives. They both love it. I have even had my sister switch her Schnauzer to it (she was having skin issues)
Cons: has chicken meal as a lower ingredient.

My miniature Schnauzer was having a lot of digestive issues, diarrhea, etc. My vet suggested a prescription limited ingredient food, but we wanted to try other things first. We were so pleased to find this food at Petsmart. My dog absolutely loves it. We mix it with white rice, which I think helps her stomach but also helps bring out some of the flavor of the food. I would definitely recommend Blue Buffalo to anyone, and this formula to anyone whose pets have sensitive stomachs. I also feed Blue Buffalo to my cats.
Pros: not a prescription!, dog loves the taste, good ingredients
