Customer reviews for Green Cabomba Plant

Green Cabomba Plant

Sometimes called Carolina Fanwort, Green Cabomba can be identified by its feather-like leaves and can grow to be over a foot and a half tall. The plant's dense growth makes an ideal aquarium background, and branches can be trimmed from the main plant and re-anchored. Beware, though, of over-trimming or trimming too frequently.

This is a pretty good plant for about any type of tank. But their is something weird about them. They don't seem to grow roots at all. But they still grow and reproduce. I took off one star because my bottom swimmers uproot them but I don't have any other problems so far. When you buy them it won't look as nice but when they grow, they will be more dense and better looking

I picked up a Cabomba plant a couple weeks ago and it looks great in the tank. While it is another green plant, it is light green and looks great under the lights. It can be messy though. When you buy this plant, be sure to rinse it and soak it prior to planting in your tank. I used water from the tank to soak in a tall cup. Even then it will shed some leaves in the tank. Not an issue as I used a net to scoop up any big pieces and the filter got the rest.
I buried mine rather deep to limit any uprooting and that seems to have helped. It is planted under the filter and it looks nice as it sways. Depending on how well it sprouts new ones, I will either buy more or trim to add to my other tanks.

I purchased 3 bunches of this plant and just dropped it in the tank with the lead weights that was on them. It grows so easily. I noticed right away that it was putting off roots and established very well. If a piece breaks off just stick it in the gravel and it takes off. The baby fish love to hide in it. It looks great as a natural back ground. The leaves do break off and get stuck in the filter inlet but that's a small price to pay if you love the hobby.

I bought these about 6-8 weeks ago got about 6 clippings in the purchase 1 clipping turned brown and I tossed it out the others are all living but they've not developed any root system, so be warned if you have bottom sifting fish they will likely knock the plants lose and you will find them floating, my cory cat's uproot them every couple days and I have to replant.
