Taking very little to cultivate, the Corkscrew Valisineria Plant can be identified by its spiraling, veined leaves. "Corkscrew Vals" can grow to be very dense and will occasionally need thinning out or trimming, while their tightly wound corkscrew-shaped leaves are aided by high levels of light and nutrient-enhanced substrate.

I bought one of these for my 5g tank. But they're was a snail that I bought before. He ate my plant with no mercy! The plant actually grew back but my snail ate the plant and his roots. I took it out, of the tank and bought another one and put the snail back in. Of course he ate it and I took it out, but the plant was still growing. Now, the plant has 5 leaves. And when I bought it it only had 3. I'm buying 4 more of these to create a back ground. These are mid-ground plants but they are back ground plants if kept in smaller tanks. Lol guy out!

i bough a few bunches of these plants a while ago because of the cheap price. I brought them home and put them into my 10g tank. They did really good and didn't turn brown like most people say. One con that i have is that my feeder comet always swims by and uproots the plants. A few weeks later, i moved 2 into my new 20g tank along with my feeder comet and they have been doing good. One day my feeder ate all the roots on my corkscrew vallisneria and they quickly grew back so i know that they are healthy. overall its a really great plant for the price.

I love this plant, My betas fish loves it it works well with my marina beta kit my goldfish love it too.
I would highly recommend this plant for small 1-10 gallon or larger 20-100 gallons. The plant is cheap and it dies easily if you don't give it the liquid food. Overall great product

I bought four of these for my twenty gallon aquarium and they make it seem so natural! The leaves do however, melt when you put them into a new enviroment with different water partaments and stuff but will grow back in two weeks! Well mine did anyway! The price was really cheap for what you got (one bundle had two or three plants in it) I have Aqueon Floramax as lighting and I use Seachem FLourish Comprehensive supplements for the planted aquarium and it grow like crazy! But be warned when buying fertilizer for aquatic plants becasue Api Co2 booster and Flourish Excel will melt val and other fine leafed plants including hair grass, cambomba, and ancharis well Flourish excel will burn those plants. When planting them seperate each plant and plant them 2-3'' away from eachother as they like there personal space! They will soon send of runners wich will then turn into a new plant its self.
So dont worry if they seem to die when you put them in just wait awile and hopefully new leaves will emerge!
Speaking of Vals, Petsmart has another plant for sale (not on this site) called jungle val but is actually a water onion but thye grow really easy too

It looked nice. I bought a 2 and within a week, the plant only had 1-2 leaves left. I added the Aqueon plant food, but that didn't help at all (even with my other plants).

I think if I did more care (more light, better plant food) it might've survived, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I picked up 4 of these at my local petsmart since they were so cheap. At first I was quite disappointed as the leaves started melting but after doing some research online I found out its normal for Val's to do this if they experience a change in water parameters. I trimmed back the decaying leaves, after about 2 1/2 weeks all but 1 started growing back nicely. They haven't grown as tall as I thought they would I've had them for about 4 months now and they're only about 10" tall.
