Customer reviews for Red Ludwigia Plant

Red Ludwigia Plant

The amphibious Red Ludwigia can be identified by its spade-shaped leaves with dark green tops and reddish bottoms. Sometimes called "Water Primrose," the plant needs moderate or substantial lighting and a vitamin-enriched substrate for its leaves to thrive. Red Ludwigia is ideally used in an aquarium's middle ground, though it can also serve as a background plant in smaller aquariums.

I bought the Red Ludwigia plant a couple of weeks ago and it has added some natural color in the tank. When you go to add this to your tank, pull a couple of rows of leaves from the bottom and be sure to plant rather deep in your substrate. If not, it will easily be dislodged and will float to the top. As noted in other reviews, this plant needs some special care with using iron-rich fertilizer.
I will definitely add this to my other tanks.
Pros: durable, stylish, price

I have a five gallon with a male betta fish so i added this plant. It is wonderful. I also added this plant for my betta kit. This plant is great for small tanks or ponds/ I also have a ten gallon with a beta sorority and a thirty gallon with two goldfish my fish love this plant. They swim around it and like to sleep in it. The only problem is that it is cheep and the plant can die easily but my plants haven't died so i guess it depends

Firsrt of all I love the nick name of this plant; Water primrose, I call it now the hunger games plant! Anyway, They sell a whole bunch of these as cutting secured with a lead wheight to keep them down and to keep them together. Well mine did anyways. When it was in the bag about 6 leaves fell of the plant but I guess thats okay. Becasue these are cuttings, they are really hard to plant becasue they keep on floating up and up and up over again but when I eventuall got them down in the gravel boy, do they ever look great! The red and green leaves make a wonderful contrast to my 20 gallon which just has all green plants... I would defently reccomend this plant because it is so beatiful and grows really easy. All you have to do to make a new plant is cut of the top of this plant inbetween the leaves and stick it into the gravel!
2 thumbs up!
