This fish mixes well with any GOLDfish. I have 3 GOLDfish in the same tank. They are very Hardy fish. Live long, and have to eat at least 2 times a day, if not three.

Many people think that goldfish are a 'BEGINNERS' fish but the shubunkin like all single tailed goldfish are a great fish for beginners to expert fish keepers.I bought my first shubunkin two months ago when he was just a 1/2 inch fish now he is a beautiful orange,black,and white 3-1/2 inch energetic fish who loves to play ping pong on the surface of the water in his 30 gallon tank.His diet consists of Wardly Goldfish Flakes.His tank mates are 6-7 feeder goldfish and a ghost shrimp.

This fish is a strong fish that if you take care if it will certainly stay healthy. Great buy for any cold tank. Please DO NOT mix with tropical fish

I had 3 of these when I was little. All their names were Dorothy. I was obsessed with Elmo's pet goldfish Dorothy that's why I named all of them Dorothy.They are cute and kind of boring but overall nice pets and great starter pets if you are a first buyer.

Shubunkin - like any other single tailed goldfish - should be kept in a fish tank of 55 gallons MINIMUM.
These fish grow up to 12 inches in length and love to dart around.

I keep one in my 55 gallon tank and within a year and a half she grew from 2.5 to 9 inches, so because of her I am looking into upgrading to at least 125 gallons.

They also can live a decade, so buying a fish like this is a commitment.

Pros: beautiful, live long

Cons: need very much room, live long

I have had a shubunkin for about 2 years now, I never thought a fish could be as smart as he(or she) is. He is loving and happy, knows a few tricks and actually enjoys his hiding places and loves plants. Shubunkin are hardy fish and easy to take care of. Give them a lot of room to swim in a clean well filtered environment, attention and regular feeding and they will live forever.

Pros: easy to take care of

Cons: always keep in well filtered tank

please i am begging you do not get these fish unless you have a pond or wall to wall tank they are basically pond fish and will suffer in a tank otherwise. they are attractive fish, however.
