i love my rosy barb .... beautiful fish. Very active and seems to love to play with the other fish. He gets along great in my 60 gal semi-aggressive tank (very semi aggressive) This fish may be the smallest in the tank, but has one of the biggest personalities. I was almost against getting him at first because i just didn't think he would fit in with the other fish (black ghost knife, angelicus botia, rainbow shark, leaf fish, gourami ect) but he's a blast and the other fish love him.

I got one of these fish because of it being a barb, and because of its color. It was well worth it! It was very lively in my tank and added a lot of color to my tank and even brought out some of my shyer fish! Worth your money!

Rosy barbs are a lot of fun. They're big enough to notice from across the room. They have big personalities. They're easy to care for, not picky about water quality or temperature. Hardy from 60 to 80 degrees F. (NOTE: Fin nipping is decreased with cooler temperatures!) All in all- great fish. BUT they get bored easy. If they are kept in groups less than eight, or if they have slow moving or long-finned tank mates, or if they aren't fed often enough; they can't seem to help them selves from a little fin nipping. It's not usually a big deal if they're kept with tank mates that aren't to delicate. Also try to keep Rosy barbs in a ratio of 1-2 males/ 1 female. I'll give you a few ideas as far of set ups that seem to work with these fish. BTW, don't bother trying to keep rosy barbs with any small shrimp or fry you want to keep.
Tank mates that work in a cool tank:
zebra danios, bloodfin tetra, platys, white cloud minnows, gold barbs, odessa barbs, skirt tetras, comet goldfish, glo fish
Tank mates that work in a heated tank:
most any of the above as long as it's not too warm, tiger barbs, harlequin rasboras, cherry barb, most robust tetras, other barbs
Hope this helps :)
*Rosy Barbs love to eat hair algae!
**Also RBs come in several forms- long fin, red glass, and neon. You can mix and match these for variety.
***RBs get more colorful when they mature. Most of the RBs you see for sale have not grown into their colors completely.

I had to move them to a separate tank where they are happy and thriving by themselves.

i have had numerous amounts of these guys before, they last a long time, look good, and are fun to watch
Pros: look good, last a long time, fun to watch
Cons: nipps at fins of other fish, can be territorial, will eat small fish like danios or neon tetras
