we originally had my gourami in our 20 gal tank. he surprising was aggressive and was always chasing around the other fish (couldn't believe it!) i then went to a 60 gal tank, and he because much more dosile! i just added another gourami, and they pal around together. they get along great with my non aggressive ram chichlid, black ghost knife and other simi aggressive fish. im glad i gave him a chance, it must have been the small tank that made him aggressive. i love him

This was sold to me as an Opaline Gourami. But it's not, it looks just like these, with the spots. I have a 75 gallon tank and I'm glad I'm not keeping it in a smaller tank. As it is, it ate a bloody spot in my Blue Dwarf Gourami's side. Then he terrorized the other Blue and had him scared to come out of hiding. I separated him (Spot) in a net breeder. He hated it, when I finally let him out, he was much nicer. Maybe all of them are not this nippy, because my son has one in his 29 Gal. and he is not aggressive at all. I seem to have the bully.

My Gourami is of the Gold variety, so she looks like the one in the picture, but in gold and yellow colors. She is of the largest in my tank and coexists with other fish that are at minimum 2". I would not recommend these Gouramis if you have tiny fish because they will be eaten. My Gourami was aggressive at first and harassed some of the other fish, to the point of me almost isolating her, but after changing up the ornaments, she calmed down after a week or two. If you have very delicate fish, I would be hesitant about getting a Gourami, just because they can be bullies at times, but as long as you break up their territories, they should be a nice addition to any tank. They are nice and hardy and can survive with questionable water conditions. My Gourami is beautiful and one of the crowning jewels of my tank.
Overall: Beautiful, but slightly aggressive

This fish is not for communities. It will chase small fish such as danios, and will eat all there food. They grow large and need a big tank. If you want a gourami choose a dwarf one.
Pros: Cheap Cons: Grows Large, Mean to other fish

These fish are super hardy and they are not as aggressive as I thought they'd be! One problem though is that they're VERY shy and don't come out to eat sometimes. Gourami are an excellent choice for beginners.

i bought one of these for my 55g tank a few months back and not only is the fish still alive, he has more then doubled in size. He gets along with the bloodfins(3), neons(3), angels(3) and my pleco just fine. the only other fish he tends to go after is my other gourami.

I have two gold gouramis. They are very active, and are good eaters. They also have a very good-looking gold color. My bigger gourami chases the smaller one around occasionally, but thats what I expect from a semi-aggressive fish.

I have had many different kind of pets in my life, but my gold gourami (his name is Hopalong) is easily my favorite. He is beautiful, fun to watch, active, and not too hard to take care of. If you are wondering what kind of fish to get, you can stop here!

They're cool fish. They get to know their feeder and will actually come out to greet you, which is good, considering most fishes' hiding response. They don't hide much, and are extremely hardy. Only real words of advice are to avoid fish with long fins, or small fish, as these gouramis can and will turn violent when they have the obvious upper-hand, but so will most fish. Gorgeous guys :)

I got one gold gourami from Petsmart and they are really colorful fish. When I first brought him home, he was really shy. After about 3 days, he started to swim around the tank in the open. I have him in a 30 gallon long, semi-aggressive, aquarium. No one bothers him especially when i have him with 2 giant danios, 2 rainbow sharks, and an algae eater. They eat a lot so don't feed them to much!

I got both a Blue and a Gold Gourami. They really add color in your tank! I had them in a Tropical/Tropical Semi-Aggresive aquarium and they dont bother any other fish! Sadly my Gold Gourami died yesterday due to a wound, but my Blue Boy(thats his name)is thriving! Awesome fish you should get it!!!!!

I got a Blue Gourami when 2 of my fish died. He swam at the top, and that worried me. When one of my other fish passed, I got a Striped Peacock Eel and Bala Shark. I recomend feeding these fish frozen brine shrimp. The Gourami is now swimming on top, middle, and bottom levels. He is so cool!!

The Gold Gourami is one of the best fish that I've ever had. They will survive through anything (even ammonia disaster). They are fun to watch, and will get along with cichlids. They are very inexpensive and great to have.

I love blue gouramis! They are great fish. I have one named Cosmo. Gold gouramis are cool too. Mine died, and so did the rest of my blue gouramis :( I have had Cosmo for about five years. He is fun to watch, and never hides. I would recommend this fish to almost any one!
Pros: cool color, swims around the tank a lot, doesnt hide behind plants, overall great fish :)

I have four Gouramis, 2 Blue and 2 Gold in my 40gal. I've had all four for 2 years now and man did they grow. They like to eat a lot so you got to ration the amount of times you feed your fish. They do tend to be a little aggressive but so far I had no mishaps with them. They add color to your aquarium and once they get use to you, they will follow you when you stare around your tank.
Pros: have beautiful colors, will scavange for left over food
