After trying several brands and types of collars on our cat, this is the ONLY collar we use on her. Her other breakaway collars were constantly being lost, thus losing her tags along with it. This type of collar has a small elastic band in it that stretches so if it gets caught on something, she could free herself from the collar which gives us more peace of mind. Her first one of this type lasted so long that it just started to fall apart. She wore it out, skulking through bushes and trees while stalking oblivious birds and squirrels... The outside of the material became very worn looking but it NEVER came off. That's to be expected with a very active indoor / outdoor cat so I don't really count it as poor quality. Any material dragged endlessly through bushes is going to fray. Our vet recommended this type of collar due to its safety feature of the elastic and we love it.
Pros: comfortable, durable, looks great
