I have 3 large dogs (80-105 pounds), 1 with very bad joints. This product has been a wonderful purchase for our home. It was easy to install and all were using it within a couple of days after a little encouragement. And my dog with bad joints has no problem using it.

Needs extra pieces

We just got this door yesterday and it seems good, however it does not come with all the pieces. If you have a recessed door you have to call pet safe an get them to ship you a Metal Bracket kit. It cost about $9 USD (we are in Canda) BUT shipping is over $30 and takes 10-14 days. I don't know yet if there will be customs on it when it arrives either. It should come with all the needed pieces or it should be able to be picked up at a local Petsmart! For FREE!

I have had this door for 3 years now and I still love it! It has been a lifesaver for me and my pets.
I have 2 large dogs, a German Shepard and a Rottweiler that use the large sized door with no problems.
I also have a small chihuahua and 2 cats that use the door with no problems.
They all took to the door very quickly and have been able to easily open the flap to go in or out.
The door has weathered well and I haven't had to do any repairs. Just normal cleaning of the flap, helps to keep it functioning well.
The door was super easy to install and was installed in less than 15 minutes.
I would recommend this door to anyone!

We purchased this dog door for our two dogs, the male is 42 pounds and the female is 44 pounds. It was easy to install. We had to adjust our sliding glass door to make a tight seal but it wasn't a big deal. The door is cold to the touch and I do notice a slight bit of air around it, but the ease of use for the dogs make up for it. It did take them a few days to get used to the flap, the magnets did bother them a bit but I find that it does seal the way it's supposed to. My only main drawback was that the screws were missing, but a call to Petsafe had them shipped to me within 3 days. Make sure you measure your pet because the sizing is small.

Pros: easy to install, easy for dogs to use

Cons: ours came without the screws, could be more weather insulated, large size is for a dog the weighs about 45 pounds

This door is absolutely useless for large dogs. It only has a 10 inch flap. What retriever or any large dog is going to fit through that. Do not buy this door is you have a dog over 30 pounds it is just absurd!

I bought this door and within one month my dog, a basset mix, had ripped the door flap completely off. This door could also be much better insulated. My heating bills were substantially higher after installing this door. There are other brands available that are designed with chewing dogs in mind and that are better insulated.

Pros: easy installation

Cons: easy for your dog to chew the flap completely off, needs better insulation

Installation was easy it slipped right in and adjusted very easily to the door height Lost of drilling required so keep the batteries charged. Fit is Ok. there is a gap between the adjustment part at top and the sliding door due to the opening on the side of the slider mechinism for height adjustment I had to buy foam to jam in there to complete the seal. the unit is sturdy and once secured to the frame is rock solid. My dogs are used to doors but are a little unsure of this due to the height. it is 10in from floor to bottom of the doggie door, so they must jump through it. although we did buy a large and we have small dogs

Pros: easy to put in

Cons: does not seal well to the sliding door

I think this door is great, with the exception of the sizing. I originally bought the small for my Chihuahua, and the door flap was way too small for him to use. The sizing is on the small side, and would recommend ordering one size larger than is suggested and recommended for use on the website. I returned the small and ordered the medium, which is the perfoct size for him to access easily.

Cons: sizing is small

This dog door has saved my sanity.
The Husky can go in and out as much as he wants.
The door fits perfectly and allows no drafts.
Thses doors should be more readily available on this side of the continent though.
