This are amazing fish that are experts in hunting ghost shrimp, it's very entertaining watching them hunt the shrimp. They are highly interesting and I do very much recomend this product. These fish do preffer live food intead of flake food and they do best in warm, brackish water. They do swim alot so a spacious tank is required. There is absolutely no reason why not to get this product, they are interesting, fun, and great pets
(They love hunting ghost shrimp so get them about 20 per week)

Ive only had my leaf fish for a few days, but he's a great, shy little guy. He's the newest addition to my 60 gal tank. I have all baby semi aggresive fish and they all get along great. he isn't the fastest mover, but i love the way he gets around ... unique and awesom little dude

I bought my two African Spotted Leaf Fish at my local Petsmart. They are two of my favorite fish. They swim and "play" together, and they're great to watch. Sometimes they hide, and when they do, they tend to hide together in the same spot. They're "friends." :) They were very small when I got them, but they've more than tripled in size. Everyone always comments on them. One is missing a lower (pelvic?) fin, but it's never been a problem for him. He swims, eats, and does everything else just fine. These fish are amazing and fun to watch. Don't put them with danios, neon tetras, or any other small fish because they will eat them. However, they have never bothered any of my other fish. They don't chase, nip, or fight. They're gentle and keep to themselves. Mine eat freeze dried brine shrimp and occasionally frozen food. They won't eat flakes.

My husband and I purchased one of these a few months back. It's my favorite fish by far! We put him in a 45 gallon semi agressive tank. He just glides along and most of the fish leave him alone. On the odd occasion he'll chase our Giant Danio's or Blue/Gold Gourami's but is generally a peaceful fish. An awesome addition to anybody's tank :)

I used to work for PetSmart and started doing a lot of research on this fish. I went ahead and got one and put him in my 55-gallon tank. He came out and swam around but not often, just usually hid. A few weeks later, I bought another one. They became friends right away and swam around the tank all the time. I never saw them hiding. Some years later, my first one had died, probably of old age. Now, the other one just hides all the time unless it is feeding time.
They are a very lonely fish by themselves, so always get another one. If I could afford it, I would have a tank full of these guys. I just ♥ them. They are an easy fish to keep.
If you decide to get 2, then make sure you have some frozen food. They don't usually like flake food right away in a new tank. The best way to do it, is take a small piece of frozen food, thaw it in very little hot water, and just pour it in the tank. Your other fish will love it too!

We have a leaf fish and are wanting to add another one. It comes to the front of our 45 gallon hex corner aquarium to greet us everyday and gets along with everyone in our semi aggressive tank. I highly recommend this fish to everyone and adds a different color pattern. We have sharks, catfishes, knife fish, algae eater, etc. Just a wide variety.

I own two of these guys. I first got one as a baby and put it in my fifty five gallon semi-aggressive tank. It was very small and I ended up getting another one to keep it company. They are best friends and wherever one goes the other one follows. They are great fish, some hide others don't they are all different. Mine are very active and love to swim around and eat. I highly recommend this fish to anyone who is a little more experieced in fish care.

Favorite fish in my tank

I love my leaf fish, I have had mine for almost 2 years and he is a tough little guy. He does eat smaller fish so beware! No small algae eaters or tetras. Barbs are about as small as you should go from my experience. He is by far my favorite fish and he has such a personality. Be sure to have lots of hiding places for this fish, plants or a log works great. Mine loves the log I have in my tank. Gets along well with my gourami who is about the same size, 4 inches, and my catfish.

Incorrectly Labeled

The correct name of this species if a Leopard Bushfish (Ctenopoma acutirostre), it may also be called a Spotted Leaffish or African Leaffish, but it's not a true leaf fish. They make good pets and are not generally too agressive. The one I have in my tank is 4 inches long and sometimes chases my African Knife. Be careful of putting them with agressive fish because they will get torn up. They do not grow too much larger than this and I found that they greatly enjoy sinking carnivore pellets, as mine has grown quite thick on them. Happy with the fish, disappointed with the statistics given by the store.

When I first bought it it was really picky about foods it would eat. it even refused frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. I must have been doing something wrong but it eventually died.
Cons: hard to feed
