I'm 13 and I got one for my 14th birthday it's so cool! I call him Jamrock after a Damian Marley song cuz im a huge reggae fan!
Anyway Jamrock is awesome he's so full of life and he's just so fun I don't know a whole ton about them though!

I found my baby turtle years ago at a park and I got to keep him as a pet. Sadly he had a growth defect and couldnt grow bigger then 2 inches in the 3-4 years I had him but I loved him. He could come to me when he was called like a puppy. I miss him as due to the defect he just died one day. I hope to get another painted turtle someday.

I think that a painted turtle is one of the most amazing turtle breeds to have.They are intelligent fun and simply amazing to watch as they swim around. I purchased 3 of these little joys about 1 year ago and they are still very loyal pets.You should normally feed them once or twice a day,and you can buy whatever turtle food you need in petsmart. Although they normally eat the food you buy them,i have herd that you can also give them water lettuce.They normally can live in small tanks as babies but as they grow you may need to buy them a bigger tank.The normal lifespan for this turtle breed is aromatically 30 years or maybe a little more if you raise them perfectly.But i love my three little painted turtle babies,and i have a pretty long time to enjoy them since i have 30 years to live with them.And i think they are perfect pets for any turtle lover, so i hope this helped and enjoy your painted turtles. :D

Sam is my pet mid-land painted turtle and he is the best pet i'v ever had.Sam makes me smile,laugh every day and even when im in the wrost mood i can always walk in my room and see him basking then clawing at the glass wanting me to feed him.I know some people say that painted turtle or any water turtle care is easy but and i have been taking care of sam for 5 years and the only thing thats easy is feeding him,every thing else like tank maintenance, heating and lighting, filters, stubstate, ect. can be a little bit more difficult. for starters you need a HUGE tank and that cost quiet a bit of money, then you need UVB and heat bulbs thats kinda pricey to, then you need big filter, ect. but i have to say the wrost part is cleaning the tank its a weekly job that takes around 30 min. and about 2 hours once a month.But if you can put the time effort and money into taking care of painted turtle it will be fully worth it.

I stumbled upon a painted turtle while I was out walking and decided to bring it home and keep it as a pet. My little Goober is the best pet I've ever had. She's never bitten me and never tries to bite me. Every time I walk past her tank, she swims at me and goes crazy trying to get my attention. My biggest problem is trying to no over feed her because she loves to eat more than she loves to sunbathe.

I had my painted turtle for 20 years and she has just passed away. I put her in my back yard with her basking log on top with my small collection of various resin, terracotta and plastic turtles. I talked to her everyday and family and friends always said hello to her when they came to visit. She was a part of our family and we miss her!!! I'm debating on getting another one. I probably will in a few weeks. xoxoxo

I had a turtle when I was eight years old and it was simply the cutest thing! It was pretty friendly and low maintenance. Every one loved it and so did I. Unfortunately, it ran away.

i love my turtle i got him when i turned 9 now he is about 6 in
long. i love to watch him eat gold fish. he has bitten me once.
i recmoned it for beginers.

i have two turtles. a painted turtle and a red ear slider. both of their shells are four inches long. turtles are great pets to keep. before getting a turtle or any other animal always read up on their specific needs and care. turtles require a very large tank or even an outdoor pond! the typical rule is ten gallons of water for every inch of shell. so a four inch turtle would need a fourty gallon tank. but sometimes they are okay if you get maybe a 30 gallon for a four inch turtle. i have my two turtles in a 50 gallon tank and they are just fine. dont forget that you need an above water basking area for your turtles to get oput of the water and you also need bot UVA and UVB light bulbs to shine on the basking area otherwise their bones and shell wont grow properly and you can get them sick.

Koopa is our class pet. She is soooooo sweet. She will bite when she wants food and you have to tilt the rocks in her tank just right for her to get on her stand, but she is pretty sweet. Tank cleaning is a pain, but good for new reptile owners! I love you, Koopa!

My family found a painted turtle in our yard one day and decided to keep it, thinking it was soo cute! the turtle was very nice (never tried to bite us like some other turtles do) and it didn't mind all the noise in our house (we have a big family and a dog that barks loudly). It's also wasn't as scared of us as cartoons make turtles out to be. I would stroke its shell and even touch its head sometimes and it would just stay there. I'm not sure how old our turtle was when we got him but we had him for 6 wonderful years! It's a great pet for all ages!

If you want to get a painted turtle I recommend getting a tank with water but also add some rocks out of the water for it to sun-bathe on. Make sure to keep the tank near a window so sunlight shines on the tank, but not excessively. My turtle liked to eat little fishies after chasing them around the tank, but you can feed it other things too like lettuce, they LOVE lettuce.

The only thing I don't like about keeping a turtle (not just this kind) is cleaning the tank, which you should do once week or the water gets yucky. Other than that this is an AMAZING pet!!!
