I must admit, these little ones are by far the sweetest & most lovable. My little "Squeakers" was my joy. These little ones..people often turn away by the looks of them, BUT the heart these little ones have..there are NO words. The are curious, cuddly, love being held & love to pick up things. Not to mention chatter (talk) to you. Squeakers would go to our vet's (for checkups) & just make herself @ home checking everything out she could find. Including picking up his Stethoscope & chattering into it. Wonderful with kids..just keep them in a warm place with no drafts as they are hairless..& enjoy years of love & laughter.

My friend loves animals.Sadly, she is allergic and for a while could not have any pet.She was looking to see if there were any hairless pets at the store. Then, she saw a hairless rat.She loved rats so finding hairless ones were a huge win for her! She got one named Remy, and she loves him. He's very sweet and smart, and she found him easy train. These are perfect pets for people with allergies to furred pets but don't want to get left out of the pet fun.I actually saw that hairless ones are even nicer than the furred ones! Adorable and fun,and totally worth the moola!

I recently adopted a hairless rat from Petsmart and I am very pleased! She is a wonderful pet and completely healthy. It took her a few days to warm up to me, but that's quite normal. Now she plays with me and lets me pick her up and carry her around. I'm very glad I decided to adopt her!

3 of our 4 hairless girls
I currently own 4 hairless rats but have owned all together 6. I have never own such an amazing gentle pet. Yes they take extra work but they pay you back for it in the amazing personalities they have. The rul of thumb I use fro my rats is what would I do for me. If they have dry skin what do you do when you have dry skins (example). I have never owned any other type of rat and dont think I could because they are so great. I recommend them to everyone I meet. They have such huge personalities that they win your heart over right away. Also I have never met a mean hairless rat in my time owning them.

Hairless rats are amazing pets. I had one, named Buddy, he was like a little son to me. He loved to relax with me, and sit there being petted for a long time. I would buy as much as possible if I could. Buddy was my favorite small animal and one of my favorite pets of all time. Good for starters, Good for experts. Extremely awesome pets.

My hairless was so sweet and easily trained and loved to be held. They are more prone to getting sick and require a cage mate to snuggle with, I recommend one if you have had experience with them before.
Although they dont seem to appealing they r great pets. My sister had one of these and then she had to get rid of it because we didnt have enough time to spend with it. I would recommend this to a friend. Although if u dont give it a lot of attention it can run away. Not to mention but rats like this r really smart. and if u rnt careful enough u shouldnt get this pet at all. rats are definitely not for beginners

This is my hairless girl, Bubu.
I absolutely love pet rats. I have three; a hairless, a fancy and a dumbo. They are highly intelligent and sociable, not to mention adorable! I've trained my rats to do various tricks from coming when their name is called to even stealing money (for some reason they'll only take 1 dollar bills and don't worry it's only for entertainment, I don't actually use them to steal). I would definitely suggest rats to anyone looking for a little companion!

i have a 1 year old hairless rat named cufus and is my 4th rat i like hairless rats the best because the have only really short hair spaced far apart or have vellus hairs all over them meaning they are still soft but less likely to cause allergenic reactions they are very kind creatures. i still have never meet a mean domestic rat and they are really smart my rat will come to his name and every time i come in my room he will jump up to the top of his cage to greet me. also petsmart has good buying policies so if the rat gets sick shortly after you buy it they will treat it or take it to the vet if necessary. best purchase i have ever made i highly suggest a hairless rat if you want a easy to care for pet that will love you back. p.s also 13 dollars is a good price considering at most place there 21 dollars

I adopted a hairless rat from Petsmart one day compulsively. I used to have a rat (with hair) and I loved him dearly. Now with a hairless rat, I have found myself in love again. So much, that I went back and adopted a 2nd one! The two together are so sweet. They sleep in a little ratty pile and play together. They are so soft like a little baby and love to cuddle with their human family. They are also incredibly smart and know their names and come when they hear the word 'treats!' I love my little pets!
Pros: friendly and social, fairly clean, fun to watch

I love my hairless ratties! I have 10 rats altogether and 2 of them are hairless - one girl ("Noodle") and one boy ("Bosley"). I've owned MANY rats over the years and these were my first hairless sweeties.
The only problem is, the hairless rats seem to get sick MUCH easier than their furred friends. When I first got Noodle early last fall, she got a chill and almost died when it went down to 68 degrees in my room. Same thing happened to Bosley a few months later. Make sure to keep plenty of cozy hammocks in the cage and try to provide them with a furry friend for cuddling. They also seem to eat a lot more food than my other rats, yet they are smaller and skinnier than they're friends.
Note that Bosley and Noodle are not from the same litter (or even from the same store), so it wasn't just a sickly litter.
Other than the health issues, hairless rats and gentle, loving, and hilarious little pets.
I bought my first hairless rat (Monkey) about 3 months ago and I love her to bits! I even went back and bought two more(Pinky and Gwen)!! Monkey is a regular hairless, Pinky is a dumbo hairless and Gwen is a colored hairless. Shes black and white. I love them all so much. They're really smart to, I taught Monkey a few tricks. Their cage is on top of a table so I bought a little bird ladder and hung it next to the table because when I let them out Monkey likes to get down and run all over, so she learned how to climb up and down the ladder :] I have nothing but good things to say about Hairless Rats.
Pros: friendly great pets w/ hilarious personalities.
Cons: none

A Wrinkly New Friend

I bought my first Hairless Rat yesterday. I instantly connected with her at the store and fell in love with her- wrinkly pink body and all. I bought a Dumbo Rat as well because I knew they were better in pairs. Anyway, by today she was so happy to see me, I stuck my hand in thier cage and they instantly began chattering and swarming all over me. I am so happy with my new pet rats!
Just shy of 2 years ago, I bought a female Hairless Dumbo Rat (yep, they exist) from the big PetSmart on S. Canal St. while I was living in Chicago. PetSmart must really work hard to find and train animals for great temperaments because "Xena" had more personality in that little, wrinkly body than most dogs and cats that I've met. From the day I got her, she was perfectly comfortable with me picking her up and interacting with her. She was endlessly clever, sweet as pie, and was, to quote a friend of mine, a "rambunctious little stink." She never, ever bit or squealed, and she was most at home climbing on or around me. I don't think there's a human in the world who could ever match the level of enthusiasm she showed just at the sight of me when I got home from work, or the unconditional love that she always gave me. Sadly, Xena died a week ago, and she meant so much to me that I cried for 2 days. Small animals aren't built to last as long as you wish they could, but looking back on all the joy she brought into my life just by being her friendly, spunky, trouble-making self, it was so worth it. Anyone who chooses a Hairless or Dumbo Rat (or better yet, both wrapped up in one) is a lucky person, indeed. She was the best friend I've ever had, and when the time is right, I look forward to bringing a couple of new wrinkly friends into my life, courtesy of PetSmart. I recommend them highly.

I've had rats for several years now, and when I saw my Hairless, Dumbo, I was attracted to her right away. She is bursting full of life, talks, and all she wants to do is be with 'her people', just as much if not more than 'her rat sister'. I have found her to be the most inquisitive and fearless of all the rats I've owned. And best of all, when she runs around, she looks like a puppy with her happy tail up in the air curling over her back.

We had a hairless rat and he was the sweetest thing. He loved attention and would sit on our shoulder and "talk" to us. He was so loving and gentle. I would highly recommend them to everyone!!!
