The canaries that I aquired from Petsmart have always been healthy active Pets. The important thing to know, is that canaries love to bathe. A separate small shallow dish with tap water is fine early in the day so they can dry their feathers. The female especially, if you wish to breed her needs to be able to bathe.She will need that moisture to keep her eggs from drying out.
If at all possible a little bit of sunshine,fresh washed vegetables, Broccoli,apple,romaine lettuce will be appreciated by both male and female and their babies.
They make wonderful Pets.

I have had both male and female canary they love to be talked to and the males love to sing. the number one thing that all my canaries love is a heat lamp I will turn it on in the morning and they sit underneath it but make sure that its not too hot. I also give them broccoli they go crazy for it.
