A HAMSTER'S BEST FRIEND!!!!

My hamster loves these.I think it looks discusting but hey,it's what they ate in the wild.Chester loves these things but give in small amounts,some a day.Since they stay alive for several days they come in handy and are very gross but he ikes it so who cares?
But it should only be given as a treat,not his diet.This is best for hamsters because birds won't eat it and neither did the leapord gecko.Hammies love it though.Great way to give a little bit of nutrion and they eat it up.Keep it in the the freezer or they die.Great treat!

A Learned Bird Food

As an avid bluebirder for years, I have learned that dried mealworms are the most economical food for them. I used to spend a fortune on live worms and when I found a tub of dried mealworms, I thought I'd try them. At first they didn't like them but give them awhile and they will come around. Now that's all I buy for them and I have familes that return year after year. When the babies come to eat I sometimes have to refill my dish 2-3 times a day! So my advice: give it time - it may even take a few weeks but they will come around.

I guess birds don't like these mealworms much, but my hamsters go crazy for these! They're obsessive over mealworms. :D
I mix a small amount of mealworms with their normal diet, and all my hamsters eat first are the mealworms.
All hamster owners should get mealworms for their hammies (;
Pros: great for hamsters
Cons: i guess birds dont like these?

The other reviewer simply has not yet attracted insectivore and omnivore birds! Mealworms and other insects are eaten by certain birds such as cardinals, bluebirds, robins, nuthatches, orioles, grosbeaks, mockingbirds, and more, depending on your area. They are like 50% protien and 25% fat, so they are highly nutritious. This tub of mealworms is a fantastic deal for freeze-dried mealworms. For the past 4 years, I have bought the small plastic canister of fluker's mealworms for more money and for about 1/5th of the amount of product---that is, BEFORE I found this product at petsmart. :) My hand raised pet European Starling gobbles them up with relish. This is much cheaper than relying on live mealworms. I feed my starling crickets as a live treat occasionally..but these mealworms are her mainstay for her protien needs.
At this price, I can also throw a handful of mealworms outside for the wild birds that come into my yard regularly to feed and bathe. If you haven't been feeding mealworms in your backyard feeders, it will take time to attract the insectivore and omnivorous birds. Keep putting it out there and eventually they will come, and visit regulaly for your offerings. :)
Pros: inexpensive, large amount comapared to fluker's, resealable container, readily available at petsmart, attracts wild birds not normally seen at backyard, great for feeding rehabbed/pet wild birds, great for reptiles as well
Cons: wish they sold this stuff in 5 lbs bags!
