This fish tank has everything included which is great for starters. You don't need to worry about anything else except getting the fish. I brought this tank when it was on Sale. I got it for a good price at my local store.Overall, Great one! ( you might need to consider get a better water filter if you're going to heavily stock your tank)

I got this when it was on sale for $99 at the store and what a steal.
I suggest you buy another filter since the one it comes with is very small for this tank. You want twice as much filtration. The tank is 36 gallon, so you want a filter good for at least 60 gallons. I bought a aquaclear 50, so that and this filter makes the water crystal clear.

Almost complete kit

We just purchased this aquarium kit and I am very excited to set it up. It is a beautiful aquarium and it's nice that they included a filter that should fully handle the needs of the tank (so long as I don't overstock and am diligent about timely water changes, of course). However, buyers should know that when the box says a sample of water conditioner is included, it's a bit misleading. I expected enough water conditioner to actually set up the tank. You know, to TRY the product. Sadly, this isn't the case. The included conditioner is only enough for 20 gallons and this is a 36 gallon tank. I'll have to run back to Petsmart tomorrow to buy more conditioner and, since I'm feeling a bit out of sorts over this, I won't promise to buy Aqueon's product. It seems to me that if it is a deluxe kit, it ought to be deluxe enough to have sufficient product to actually get it up and running.

Worth the price

So, I was going to get the combo with the stand and the tank. We changed our minds after seeing this kit and yes the filter is a tad loud, but actually it doesn't bother me. Then we bought a stand and with that we got more for about $40 less.

I have had numerous tanks in my life from 2 gallon up to 55 gallon and have to say I already like this tank more than any other I have had. It is the perfect size for what fish I want to keep (angels, dwarf SA cichlids). Right now it is going through its cycle, but we put 16 fish (platies and mollies) and have it all decorated just the way we want, I enjoy this tank.

The only negative I really have is that I had to put the stand together...lol. The filter with its negatives actually seems to be a solid filter and I have had no issues with it so far. The heater has been very consistent and I look forward to having this aquarium for a long time.

This is my second aquarium and it is my last. It is beautiful and easy to take care of. The filter and pump are also the best. I love the bow front--it really adds to the beauty of the tank.

Do not go for this because it seems like a great deal. You literally get what you pay for.
I have had tanks all my life.....moved to a new house and got this because I liked the bow front.
After so many issues with my fish after a month I find out that the filter it comes with is Terrible. It lacks a bio- system that is imperative for healthy fish.....piece of junk.
Heater is difficult to moderate, and it completely stopped working after 5 weeks! Um....fish dont like cold water....
Now, to top it off the tank is leaking! Leaking! So, today I need to empty out the entire tank - bring all my fish to be boarded - and start all over!
If you want a real aquarium - spend more, dont get a cheap starter kit....I should have known better!
Just beware!!

I got this tank for a christmas gift from my kids and I love it it is a great size it looks great in my living room it has plenty room for my fish and snails it has a removable top so you can add large decorations and the filter is quite not hardly big enough so I up graded to a tetris EX70 that does the job and the heater does its job my tank stays at 74.6--75 degrees all in all this is one great tank and at a great price too people at petsmart were great and very helpful I dont have any cons about this setup

Great tank, a few problems...

Fastastic tank. Room to aquascape and the fish love it. Price is remarkable for a kit.

Filter is cheap and LOUD. Some plastic molded teeth are supposed to act as the "biological filter". Horrible design. There is a little lip where you can attach a sponge or other media.

HERE'S THE BIG PROBLEM: The filter outlet is elevated so that no matter how full your tank is, it sounds like a small waterfall coming out. Do not put it in your bedroom, if you want to sleep. It completely contrasts the beauty and peacefulness of such an aquarium.

Furthermore, the filter placement in the hood requires it to be way too far on either side of the aquarium. Either the filter is pulling water from the corner of your tank, or the flow is pumping water out in the corner.

Last point concerns lighting. "Full Spectrum" lighting is fine, but the tank is rather deep and any substrate cover may have a hard time flourishing without a different lightbulb, which has a strong red and blue spectrum.

Don't get me wrong. This is a GREAT tank to start with. Those who are a bit experienced may find it a little lacking. Nevertheless, it's a great deal.

I received this tank as a gift on Christmas 2011. I immediately set it up because i DESPERATELY needed to upgrade from my old 10 gallon tank. I cycled it for a few days & transferred my fish. They really liked the food from the kit, but my fish are pigs so i quickly had to buy more. Overall great tank

I bought this product yesterday and bought a stand to go with it. Everything is wonderful, tank is gorgeous, but the only problem is the filter. I set it up today and within 5hours the filter already stopped working. I took it out of the tank and disassembled it and the motor was frozen. The propeller on the filter doesn't seem very strong to begin with. And other than the light being a little dim for my liking, the tank is wonderful!

I purchased this a few weeks ago and having finally got it set up with some fish. I have to say many, many years ago I was really into aquariums but eventually gave it up. I was never really tempted to get back into it until I saw this in my local Petsmart when my dog was getting her nails trimmed. I fell in love with it, both the tank with the stand and now I am back into the whole aquarium thing again and I could not be happier. Love it soooo much!!! Highly recommend. Excited to have such a gorgeous aquarium in my home!!!

I love the tall spaciousness of this tank, it is absolutely great! The light, heater, and filter work fabulously. The only down sides to this kit are it did not come with a thermometer, and the filter is kind of noisy. But overall a great set up!

I wanted to buy a 20+ tank. Seeing this was on sale for the same price for a 20+ tank, I purchased it. Sadly when I got home it had a crack. I returned it and exchanged it. As I setted up the tank, the hood connector broke off as I hooked up the hood! Then 2 days later the power filter stopped working! I exchanged even that! I had great customer service thru out this entire time! Its holding up well and I enjoy it everyday! Its so huge, and happy to have purchased it! I love Aqueon!
