Main ingredient is lamb, followed by brown rice ... NOT brewers rice, a rice kernel by-product, used in so many other high end dog foods. Great ingredients for sensitive stomachs without the high price tag. I adopt rescue Dobermans. All the Dober's I've had do well on either a red meat or fish based dry food. (Their coats get rather dull on chicken, and they can be very allergic to venison). My current boy has pyloric valve problems and requires a small chunk food. This is perfect. He loves it and does really well on it.
I asked my vet if he could suggest a small bite sized dry food, and mentioned the Authority mini chunk lamb. Doc said Authority was a very good high quality food that he would definitely recommend.
Thank you Pet Smart for finally coming up with a top notch food at a reasonable price (especially when on sale). Hard to find anything comparable that isn't over $43. Tired of companies taking advantage of pet owners, knowing we will spend our last dollar on the best we can afford for our dogs.

Great food for dogs with allergies

After determining that our German Shepherd was allergic to even the tiniest amount of seafood byproduct (oils and fishmeal), we searched everywhere for a kibble that didn't have any of it in its ingredients. Aside from the expensive Natural Balance flavors and a Nutro Max (high-protein) food, this was the only one on which our girl thrived. The hotspots on her legs and the redness on her belly cleared up, and she was no longer itching non-stop.

Allergies

Our vet suspected that our Australian shepherd had a food allergy due to the constant itching and biting. He recommended switching food but we could not afford the really high end. We found authority and our pup is better than ever. Her itching went away almost instantly and we also saw a big improvement in her coat. We have since switched our other dog to authority weight control and have had great success. Highly recommend.

Authority is Awesome

I have tried several different products for my dogs and always go back to Authority because it has the nutrition as well as the flavor the dogs love. I have 8 dogs now that live with me (two mine) and the ones that are on other premium dog foods always try to get to this food and eat it out of the bowls before my dogs can eat it. For the lady with the Great Dane I just had to put mine down due to cancer in throat but I had her on Authority senior because it has the Glucos/Chond in it and she did awesome. She was almost 11 before she started having pain in her throat. But my point is because yours is already nine I would put your GD on this for its hips and joints.
My son also has a German Shepherd that has really bad RA and it definately helps him.

I never realized the importance of finding just the right match of dog food for my pug Bitey. While the effects some dog foods had on his coat and the constant gnawing of his side i became insanely obsessive of finding the perfict fit for him. As I walked in the first time to a Pet Smart I was in awe of the selection and just thought I would find a bag for my budget and start the experiment. As I stood in amazement an employee must have seen how helpless i looked and asked me if I needed help and to this day I am greatful he noticed that stupid look in my face. He asked a few questions and I described Bitey and my situation. He took everything into consideration and began to walk towards the Authority brand mini chunks and explained to me the quality and value of this product and the testing began that day. I noticed over a short time span that Bitey looked shinier and the bare spot that he had gnawed away at on his side was healing and his obsession to chew himself was gone. After a while I noticed that his overall health seemed to be better then ever. Over a three year period I have slipped up and bought other brands a few times mostly becasue of laziness and like clock work my dog begins to chew himself and i have to go to Pet Smart and it's worth it everytime. Thank you for this product. The best part is Bitey likes it!

Just What We Need!

I have 5 Furry Angels, including 3 kitty cats (all rescues- 2 of them adopted me from Petsmart in Burnsville, MN) and 2 Lhasa Apso puppies (8 years old, but they'll always be my babies :)
One of my puppies is allergic to a ton of foods, including chicken, white potatoes, and carrots, which are common ingredients in dog foods.
This is one of the few (only?) foods I can feed her. I've been feeding it to my puppies for about 3 years now, and we have not had any problems.
I am a regular at Petsmart. Thank you for everything you do, esp. Petsmart Charities. I donate when I can (which isn't often with 5 hungry little mouths of my own to feed! ;) <3

I love Authority to begin with, but one thing that I love about this specific flavor is the price. Usually any flavor of dog food other than beef and chicken is a couple more dollars expensive, but I'm actually able to give my dog his favorite flavor of food, without having to pay more, not to mention, Authority has awesome ingredients while still being economically friendly to my wallet.

I have two shiba inus, one who has a fairly sensitive stomach. I was looking for a dog food that wasnt terribly expensive and yet was good for them. Meat is the first ingredient in the Authority brands which is the main thing we were looking for. A Petsmart associate recommended this along with a couple other brands that would be good. They suggested the lamb for the sensitive stomach and my dog hasnt been sick since. Authority is decently priced and they always have sales on it. Highly recommended!

My pit bull terrior had loose stools no matter what dog food I gave him. After trying several different brands I discovered Authority Lamb and Rice. What a difference. No more loose stools and my dog gobbles it up. He really enjoys this product and what a savings by switching to Authority. We love the mini chunk, we also have smaller dogs that enjoy this product as well. I would recommend it to any dog owner.

We've tried about ten different brands of dog food over the past three years. They either didn't agree with my black lab's stomach, he didn't like it, or it was ridiculously expensive. This is the perfect dog food for him! It's decent quality, a great price, and he loves it. I also feed him less than the recommended guidelines and he's maintained a healthy weight. He has been eating this for one year now. A few other dogs that we've given this too tend to like it more than their regular dog food, as well. Give it a try-you won't be disappointed!

Lilly was itchy and we stopped at PetSmart to get some allergy medication for her. We were very lucky to get assistance from one of the associates that advised us it could be her food, which was primarly corn based. They recommended the Lamb and Rice Puppy for Lilly. The itching went away. She is a big girl now and eats the Adult Lamb and Rice. She has gotten so many compliments on her coat. The vet say's that she is very healthy, because of her diet.

I just switched my dogs over to this food. It seems like its quality food for a good price and the dogs love it. Problem I have is that if it is Petsmarts own food then why do they never have it in stock when I go. Use to have the same problem with them not having the big bag of Natures Recipe(part of the reason for the switch) now that I have them switched over, they don’t have this one in the big bag. What a joke I have to buy 2 smaller bags and spend more money because they can’t stock their own brand of dog food. Think I am going to switch again and try Iams that way I can get it anywhere.

Jimmy is an 8 pound rescue Chihuahua. His foster mom had been feeding her dogs Authority so that's what Jiim ate. When Jimmy came to live with me I decided to stick with the food to which he was accustomed. He cleans his bowl immediately, has minimal waste, good energy and is a happy boy.

After spending a fortune at the vet and on speacle vet food, even making my own dog food (very time consuming). My large hairy family buddy who is a coyote/shepherd and the most sensitive dog I have ever owned and unable to eat chicken finally found a food that we both love. He gets what he needs and I get to see him happy.

I have a 11.5 yrs old poodle who has diabetes and atypical cushings disease who would not eat the prescription food so he was eating Nutro Natural Choice but Nutro keeps going up in price so a Petsmart employee suggested Authority she said it is close to Nutro so I went the Mini chunk Lamb because Bear is allergic to corn and he loves it better than Nutro and his buddy Spice a 4 yrs Miniature American Eskimo Love it also Thanks Petsmart for Authority

I have a 9 yr old Great Dane who has had a sensative stomach all her life. I tried EVERY brand (at least it seemed like it) of expensive 5 star dog food over our years together, but they were all WAY to rich for her system. I didnt want her nutrition to suffer so spend alot of time reading ingredients and reviews before we gave Authority (lamb) a try. Its gentle enough for her system, yet provides quality ingredients so i know her nutrition needs are being met as best they can. I cant speak for the taste (ive never tried it), but she seems to like it well enough.

Pros: high quality, digestible, taste, price

I switched to this food approximately 6-8 months ago. I have a 4 year old boxer and an 18 month old dobie. I wanted a better food for my girls but the boxer tends to have allergies so I was concerned about choosing the right one. I went with the Authority after reading several reviews by dog food analysts. Both dogs love to eat this food and there have been no allergy issues. It has also made a very noticeable difference in their coats. They are much softer and shinier since making the switch! I highly recommend.

I bought the cheap stuff most of my life, its just dog food right? Well after reading about how it affects them, digestion, fillers etc, i recently decided to make a change. This is the first "good" food i bought my 2yo small (12#) dog, and he loves it. He actually wags his tail when he eats! I'm not sure if its the mini chunks, or the flavor, but you can see his happiness when he eats. I would for sure recommend this to other people, he definitely didn't have this reaction to eating the "other" previous hard foods.

I was using science diet food for many years. I wanted a better food but not have to pay alot more money. I was recommended this food and decided to try it, had nothing to loose since petsmarts has a return food policy. I am so happy with this food, they switched with no issue's and love the taste. And there stool looks great! And my one dog has stopped itching all together. Love it!
