My dog is medium-sized, so these nail clippers should have been fine. The clippers didn't even make it through one complete cut, barely making a mark on the first nail before they broke. The pivots are made of plastic that pops out of the holes with only the slightest pressure while using them, leaving you holding a pair of handles and a spring - in separate pieces.

Tip - spend a few more dollars and get clippers made from steel that will last.

This does the job on my Shiba Inu puppy. Easy to use as long as your dog doesn't squirm too much.

I have a Frenchie and her nails a little tough, but I would think any nail clipper should last longer than just two times of using it. It literally fell apart into pieces. I guess it's a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

Broke on First Try!

These clippers are terrible, cheap quality and broke, mid-clip, on the first try. Not only did they break, but because the hinge broke, it was stuck on my dog's nail. DO NOT BUY THESE, or anything else from Top Paw---this is my 3rd experience with their products not working and/or falling apart.

I bought the medium size clippers for our medium sized Puggle and mutt. They were used once and did a crummy job but were better than nothing. Six weeks later, I started to trim the Puggle's nails this afternoon and I'm not exactly sure what happened but the clipper came off its hinge and scared our little guy. I can't find a top paw website so I'm reviewing the clippers here. Don't waste your money! I'm sorry I didn't research the clippers at all and trusted Petsmart to sell quality products. I won't make that mistake again.

I bought this today to try. On the very first nail I tried to clip, the plastic handle popped out of socket and broke. The whole contraption pretty much fell apart in my hands-- the spring and metal pieces fell off. This is a totally worthless product. Do not buy. I will be returning it to the store tomorrow with my receipt for a refund.

Bought these clippers to trim the nails on my two beagles after the clippers we had used for years fell and broke. I didn't even trim all of the nails on one dog before they jammed and the plastic inside broke. As with someone else, the nails they did cut were more splintered then "cut". Would probably work fine for a dog with thin/soft nails but I would NOT recommend for one with thicker/hard nails.

Clipping only when absolutely necessary, when claws started to look a little sideways, We got 2 good years out of these clippers. They broke about 15 minutes ago. The only reason I recommend you NOT buy these is after about a year's usage, my dogs' nails frayed, then cut. It was rarely a totally clean cut leaving very fine short layers of mail behind. If I tried to cut those, they wouldn't "re-cut". Great for small dogs and I frequent use like traveling :)

My chi hates these, after the first set of nails, he was so scared to get his nails cut. The came out not properly cut and broke off too uneven bits. My great dane, did not like the clippers but managed to sit through the first paw until she started to bite the clippers. Her nails turned out fine and even. You need to push on it quick and strong make the nail cut good. The chi moved more often and had smaller nails, as the dane didnt move much and her nails were stronger. I wouldnt recommend this product for small or big dogs.

I read the reviews on this product and decided to try it anyway. There really wasn't much choice. I have a German Shorthaired Pointer. Her nails are pretty thick. She is considered a medium dog. Anyway, I tried the clippers out today and they worked really good. I also like the fact that it does have like a stopper on it so you don't put the nail in too far and cut the quick. They are also easy to hold and you can get a good grip and don't have to worry about them slipping. I don't understand why the others say they don't cut and make the nails ragged. When I used them they made a clean cut. Maybe they were using them wrong or just got a bad pair. I am happy with my purchase and the price of them and would recommend them to anyone.

Wow! is all i can say. these are horrible. i tried to cut my puppies nails and it didnt want to cut. they were very jagged and it made him cry not because it hurt but because it wouldnt cut and i had to hold him so long. you deffinatly odnt have to worry about hitting hte quik with these they dont cut!

cheep is what they are. I have a 5 month old lab/shepherd, thought i would try these on his nails but they do not make a clean cut. they splintered his nails. they cut easy but not great for the nails. would not recommend these.

I bought this to use on my corgi's nails and it tore them up pretty badly. It split a couple of them and cut the rest off ragged. I saw that it had poor reviews but when I got to Petsmart I only had a couple of options for nails clippers so I opted for this one, thinking "how bad can it be?" It's bad. I wouldn't recommend this for any dog's nails. I couldn't even clip my peke's nails, and they're much smaller than my corgi's.
