I have 2 pugs, a female 8 and a male 10 years old. The male has always had bad allergies and trouble keeping his weight down. We have just finished the third 26 pound bag of the Avoderm Senior and I can see a big improvement. He had stopped jumping on the bed a few months ago and we had to be careful how we picked him up or he would yelp in pain. He used to itch terribly and lick his paws constantly. He surprised me a couple of days ago by leaping on the bed and has been actually playing like a puppy with the neighbors new chihuahua. I haven't noticed his occasional limp. His funky smell is no more and the allergies are essentially gone. I haven't weighed him lately but he seems more muscular and less flabby. They both seem to like the taste, so i am sold. It is well worth the extra cost.
Pros: high quality, taste
Cons: price

Great food for older dogs with skin problems!

Our 13 year old Miniature Schnauzer had suffered from "Schnauzer bumps" for several years. We she was about 11 years old, we changed her food to Avoderm Senior Formula, and the bumps (which are like pimples on the skin) completely went away, and have never returned since she has been on this food. She also gains weight easily, and we are able to control her weight on this food. Best of all, she loves it! We have recommended it to other Schnauzer owners who have the same issue with the bumps, and it has worked for them too. Besides working to heal the bumps, even at 13 years old, she still jumps on the bed and runs around like a puppy (it must be due to the glucosamine/chondroitin in the food). We definitely recommend it!

I have a pug who seems to be allergic to everything, so I was pensive when I tried him on the Avoderm Senior, but he had started to limp a little after long walks and the massive amounts of glucosamine and chondroitin in the food meant if it worked I wouldn't have to supplement.
It was even better than I'd hoped. He has been on it for about six months and no limping at all! Keeping weight off him has always been a battle, but this stuff allows him to eat a full cup of food each day without gaining. The kibble isn't tiny, either, which helps keep his teeth clean when I forget to brush.
Pros: high quality, digestible, taste

I tried this food for my Border Collie and I am very happy with it. She is very active, but I needed a low-calorie food, but not lacking in nutrients. She tends to gain weight easily and I do not know why. The vet thinks it might be her thyroids, but I do not want to put her on any drugs. She is fine, other than the weight problem. This food has helped her keep her weight down, and is even more active than before. We walk for 5 miles a day now and she is such a happy girl. Her coat looks amazing as well. I love this food! Callie is so thankful and so am I.
