Great tank set, just know there can be variability

Let me start off with saying this is a great tank setup that can get any new beginning enthusiast into a good quality setup that will let them hit the ground running with fish keeping. The only reason that I cannot give this a 5 star review is that based on reading fine print on the box, my own experience, and reading other reviews, is that there can be some slight variation with what you are getting in the box. While on the website it advertises a digital thermometer for the set, the one in my box was a simple color changing strip one. From other reviews I have noticed some people also mention that they did not have dual T-5 bulbs as advertised, but other than these slight variations I would recommend this product in a heart beat.

While some have mentioned the dimensions are a little odd, I personally like the 25 tall design. It's a nice intro size that can let newcomers get a nice community established without being a burden. The extra height with this tank really allows you to diversify your community based on the preferred water depth of the fish to make a nice stratified community. It is also a nice feature that the kit comes with a filter rated above the needs of the size of the tank as far as gph cycling, but don't let this fool you into over stocking your tank, this just means if you properly stock your tank your fish will be that much happier and healthier with the water quality.

Great kit and tank

After about a day of buying supplies and getting water in the tank the next morning we put fish and decor in the tank, it looked great. I already have a 90 gallon but this this tank would be a great start off for beginners, so i highly recommend this tank to anyone.

Excellent Fish Tank for Beginners and and Experts

I purchased this tank as my 'second' first tank. My actual first tank was a little two gallon hex, but that doesn't count as a tank really.
I decided on this tank for a few reasons.
1. It was a nice size for a beginner like me
2. It had everything I needed to get started, so I all needed were gravel and plants
3. Quality equipment
4. Great price

The Tank and Glass Top
The tank itself is very well made, no leaks, not too heavy, and a nice size. The dimensions are also good. It has plenty of floor space for my 5 Cory Cats and 2 German Blue Rams to share. It's a nice size for aqua scaping also.
I really like the lid. Also well made, and it is fun to be able to look into the aquarium from the top.

The Filter and Heater
I read some reviews that the filter was a little noisy. I was a little concerned, because the tank is in my room. However, I find the filter to be VERY quiet, and when you have the water level close to the top, all you hear is a tiny trickle and small buzz. In fact, when the power was out, it was hard to go to sleep since I have grown use to to noise....
The heater works like I charm. Wether you are using it to keep the chill out of your fancy goldfish tank, or for fish who like temps about 80*, this will work. Although, I kind of wish the heater had a little higher wattage. The highest I have gotten it to go is 80. You are supposed to have 5 watt/gallon, and this heater is only 100 watts. If I had to raise the temp to 86 for an ich treatment, I would need to buy another heater. But over all for general use, this works great for me.

The Light
This light fixture is awesome. It is low profile, but very powerful. It has allowed me to grow successfully a variety of plants. In my tank I have an assortment of Mexican Oak Leaf, Water Wisteria, Italian Valls, Pennywort, Money Wort, Java Ferns, Wendlov Java Ferns, and a couple others. This light combined with Flora-Max gravel and liquid fertilizers equals some great plant growth.

This tank allows you to have a great variety of fish. After you cycle your tank, you can add many fish that a 5, 10, 15 or even 20 gallon aquarium would not allow you to have.
To give you an idea, I will tell you what I have in my aquarium...

5 Cory Cats
5 Gold Barbs
5 Neon Tetras
5 Pristella X-Ray Blushing Tetras
2 German Blue Rams
2 Platys

Now, with this stock, I will have to keep up on my water changes and maintenance.

Anyways, I really recommend this tank for anyone looking for another, first, or extra tank.

Good, with a few flaws

I like this tank very much, but there are a few drawbacks. First, the dimensions a a little funky, so if you plan on buying a stand, make sure you double check your measurements. I wanted to use a cast iron stand for another website, but unfortunately, the tank wouldn't fit any of them! I ended up with a stand that works fine, but if you have your heart set on metal, you might want to get a tank with a more common size like a 20H or 20L.
Second, the light fixture does NOT come with 2 T5 bulbs. It comes with ONE T5 bulb and one pretty worthless (in terms of plant growth) colormax bulb. Its not an issue if you aren't growing plants, but since this is sold as a kit for plant growth, it is a little misleading. I plan on replacing the colormax bulb with another T5 bulb (for $17!!)
Otherwise, I really like this kit and am happy with it and the price.

I bought this setup with the intention of putting it in my bedroom. It's a great value for the price, the heater and power filter seem to work very well and I like the glass hood with the low profile flourescent light, it's very sharp looking. The one downside to it is, the extension tube for the power filter seems a little flimsy. I was trying to remove the strainer end to clean it and broke it, unfortunately I have not been able to find this replacement piece. Consequently it is temporarily rigged so the fish don't get drawn into it.

I use this tank as a nano reef tank and it works wonderfully. The lighting is great for macroalgae and low light lps corals, the filter works great, and it's deep enough for my kuda (seahorse) to cruise around in. And thanks to the included glass top, I can easily supplement with additional lighting for some of the corals with higher light requirements. Would recommend as it is a great buy!

The tank construction was excellent, the t-5 lighting does a good job a big plus for this tank.Nice glass top that worked out well with my aqua clear 50 power filter, I will us the filter supplied as a backup. the heater held the water a constant temp. The quality accessories that came with this kit was the deciding factor for me compared to other kits.

I bought this starter kit a few weeks ago, and it has been awesome! It's a longer tank for its gallon capacity, but that means I can get larger fish like the clown loach and bala shark. The filter is clean, quiet, and efficient as well as the light. Thanks Petsmart!

This tank is truly awesome. The price is amazing for what it includes. The filter is great, and probably would have cost you quite a bit sold separately. This aquarium is even great for people not growing plants. I have a few African Cichlids, so I could not have plants. This is the tank for EVERYONE!

The tank is a great size. It's a tall tank which means one large bag of substrate is all you need (huge plus) and a lot of the taller plants will also fit in there. I use mine as a planted tank with cherry shrimp + I use it as a quarantine for new fish to go in my 55 gallon. You can't beat the price, the light fixture alone is $60 (T5 lighting is pretty much top of the line for freshwater plants), and this comes with a well constructed tank, hood, heater, and filter. It you want a serious tank that can support a freshwater ecosystem this is the tank for you. I'm actually going to look for another one for the bedroom tonight (my local store only had one) because the filter is super quiet. There is an additional piece that catches the water so there is little to no splash. Love this tank! Wish they made a bigger one

I recently bought this tank because I liked the size and the shape. It provides excellent viewing area. The tank measurements being the same as a 15 gallon, you get much more tank for the same space. The lighting is excellent and very sleek, including two T5 bulbs. Filtration is more than adequate for the size. The glass canopy keeps evaporation to a minimal. Add the included heater and you're completely ready to start! It is an excellent buy (and I got mine on sale). If you bought included items separately, it would cost considerably more. I would highly recommend this tank to friends, and already have. This high quality and you won't be disappointed!

Wow, I took it out of the box and the quality of the products impressed me. The dimensions of the tank are perfect and regal. The filter has biomedia type inserts-forward thinking design for healthy nitrifying bacteria. And the T5 lights! Awesome and lights up the tank beautifully. Assembling it all I was thinking was, " I hope I can have this tank for life". Aqueon, very nice job for a unheard of price!

I currently have this set up as a live-planted brackish aquarium (anubias nana, anacharis, java fern, lobelia cardinalis, dwarf hairgrass and chain sword, with a variety of mollies).

This is the first Aqueon product I have owned and all I can do is lavish praise on it. I have used Tetra/Marineland products in the past, but now I am converted.

For the price, this is a great buy. For the sale price, this is a steal. It comes with a glass hood, and the two T5 lamps make it worth the purchase alone. The filtration system is whisper quiet, and has convinced me that for hang-on-the-back filters, is one of the better options available. The aquarium also stands taller than most aquariums this size, which in my view is a plus.

All-in-all, would highly recommend this for someone wanting to branch out into live plants.

This tank looks nothing like it does an the picture. And when i got the tank full of water it does not remotely look like a 25, it looks a lot bigger. They made the dimensions for the tank perfect. The filter is amazing, and gives off a lot of oxygen and moves the water around just perfectly. Awesome all around tank
