Purchased the steps recently and pleased with them. They are sturdy and easy to put together and fit the need for my little 5lb Griff to get on the couch.
No learning curve for her as she is used to steps anyway. Two thumbs up.

Works well for my elderly cat. He love it. However the picture on the box of course makes it look better than what it actually is. For the cost it is worth it but I think if you have a med size dog or larger I would not buy this. If you have a cat it is perfect.

These steps are great! They are made of a seemingly flimsy plastic but do actually hold at least the 70 lbs claimed on the box. My 150 lb+ coworker walked up them with no problem! My dogs are 22 and 34 lbs and both use them to get on and off our couch. We also frequently foster large dogs who almost always prefer to use the steps as well, though it looks a bit ackward :-) The cover comes off to be washed, which is very convenient! The steps with permanent carpet have to be cleaned like carpet, which is a bit of a hassle.
Obviously you'll want to measure the couch, bed, etc. that you want to use the steps for BEFORE you purchase the item so that you aren't irritated/dissapointed that the steps aren't the proper size once they arrive. In my case, we were looking for an inexpensive, portable, and durable product to help our dogs more easilly get on our 24 inch tall couch. These steps worked perfectly, but would not have worked for our 40 inch bed. It seems like a lot of people don't bother to call PetSmart and ask how tall the steps are before purchasing, but then get angry and give a bad rating to the product when it isn't tall enough for what they wanted it for! Not sure how that is the fault of the PRODUCT...
We have hardwood floors, so in order to keep the product from slipping I went to Target and purchased adhesive Anti-Skid Pads to stick on the bottom of the steps. The pads came in an eight pack and cost $1.99 plus tax.
So, basically, for under $30, these steps are exactly what we expected and have lasted us three years now with no problems. I agree with the other reviewers that it would be nice to be able to get replacement covers. Ours still looks new but I assume the cover will eventually wear out. It would also be nice to have a replacement cover to put on while the original is being washed.

Great for cats

I purchased these steps for my elderly cat so she can continue to get on and off the couch. They work perfectly. Overall the unit is quite small and I agree would not work for beds, or medium size dogs. But certainly would work great for all small or toy dogs. Super easy to put together and arrived quickly.

I purchased these steps for my Dachshund when she was about 4 months old so she wouldn't put stress on her back from jumping on and off my bed. The steps are the perfect high for my couches and chair, but are way to short for my bed (which is just average hight). They're very easy to assemble and the washable cover is a huge plus, and for the price they're pretty good. They've held up very well, I've had them for about a year. But like I said, you'd need something taller for a normal bed. She also doesn't like trying to go down them when they're against the bed

Purchased 2 sets when they first came on the market several years ago. They snap together in minutes. The faux sheepskin cover fits like a glove and can come off and go in the washer and dryer whenever necessary. They served one dog in her declining years when getting on and off her favorite sofa, chair and bed became too difficult and have continued to serve our subsequent adopted dog. To test their load bearing claim of 70 lbs. I sat my 145 lbs on them and they stayed in one piece. So after almost 11 years and 2 dogs they have MORE than met my expectations and were a great value for the price. Only regrets are that we didn't get the 4th add-ons all those years ago when they were 1/3 of the present day cost and that replacement covers do not exist.
If you take care of them and keep the covers clean you will get many years of service out of them.

Small enough for my Maltese to get up the stairs! Very fast and easy to put together with no tools at all! Also very easy to take apart for moving etc. I love that the fleece cover is removable for washing. * My only negative about this product is that I thought ..based on the box pictures and info that these stairs would be tall enough for my dog to climb into my bed but they're not at all. I have a very low standard size bed its about 2.5 ft from the floor and the top of the stairs were 1 ft to low so I returned them because I didn't want my Maltese trying to jump from our bed onto the first stair and then end up falling down the rest of the stairs and possible getting hurt. But if your looking for small stairs for a living room couch or something these would be great. They can hold up to 70lbs it says. They are very very light to move around the house too. Overall great quality but deffinetly measure and take a note of measurement before purchasing..

I purchased two sets of stairs to assist my Boston Terrier post-surgery. While he had no problem climbing the steps, he did not want to go down them. The step surface is very narrow and the overall staircase is steep.
The 4th step conversion kit is also no longer available, and I would think most small to medium dogs would need it to comfortably get onto the average height sofa or bed.
I'll be returning both sets to PetSmart this afternoon.

I just bought this product today 5-28-11. It has alleviated my cat's need to jump onto her favorite chair. I followed the instructions on how to train your pet to use the steps. She took to it within a few minutes. I will certainly buy another one for my other furniture. I'm very pleased with the product. It's easy to put together, (I didn't use the directions). Anyone who has a cat or dog that has arthritis or hip or back problems I would strongly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed.

I have an 8 lb Chihuahua who loves these steps. I have a queen size mattress and he makes it up the steps and on the bed perfectly fine. It could use another step, but he is able to make the small jump to the mattress. He does not like to use them going down though. It does not move when he walks on it and the carpet is secured on the steps to prevent tripping and is removable for easy cleaning. The best $20 i have ever spent.
Pros: easy to put together, sturdy for chihuahua, removable carpet, carpet secured to steps
Cons: could use another step

These steps are not very sturdy and I would consider them cheap. Someone stole the fabric cover before I purchased them and theres no way to order one.
I have a king size bed that sits on a normal frame and the steps barely reach upto the box frame, my maltipoo still uses them everynight but has to get a running start to get on the bed.

I looked for a few days at other stores knowing I have seen it on TV and figured I could drive to a local store and find them that same day and it didnt happen. I looked online and found them at PETSMART in the store and drove the next day to buy them. I have two yorkipoos which are very small and they didnt hesitat to run up and down these steps! To use them for my bed I have to put them against my bench and then put a folded towel on the bench against my bed and it works like a charm! I considered buying the fourth step but chose not to because the price with shipping is too much. My lil dogs are daring and theyre not scared to make a lil jump up or down to get to where they want to go! I recommend this product to anyone!
Pros: easy assembly, puppies love them, washes easily
Cons: fourth step costs as much as whole set

My 13 yr old tuxedo cat loves to sleep on the bed. Unfortunately her arthritis, not her tenacity, was making the climb difficult for her. In less than 10 minutes, cat's can be quirky about trying new things, and following the enclosed training techniques, she was good to go. $20.00 for a 4th step and cover (?) is not a value. Especially when it's regarding quality of life. My ratings, however, are about the product I purchased and how it met Lilly's needs.
Pros: lightweight and easy to assemble, excellent idea to add training technique
Cons: do not care for marketing technique for 4th step.

I've had these for several years and they're great. I have one with 3 steps and one with 4. Never had a problem with them holding any amount of weight or sliding on the floor. I have 2 Yorkies, 1 Maltese, 1 Yorkie-Maltese and 1 Yorkie-Pom. The first 3 are in their teens and have age and vision problems and these steps are fantastic for them to get on and off the couch and bed without having to do any jumping. They were skeptical for about two days but it was just a change and as soon as they got used to them, they have used them all the time ever since. Could not recommend more!

I was very skeptical about these steps. After reading numerous reviews on this website and other pet sites that were mostly positive, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. My pomeranian loves these steps. Assembly was simple. Although some complained of the steps sliding, ours doesn't even though we have hardwood floors. We placed the steps right up against the sofa. It's the perfect height. The sheep skin cover makes it look nice. The steps come with instructions on how to teach your dog how to use them. The tips are very helpful. In less than a minute, my pom was scampering up and down with ease. Lavishing your dog with praise for using the steps makes them feel confident and eager to please. Even our cat used the steps immediately. A wonderful product with a great price. Thank you Petsmart!
Pros: ease of use and assembly, affordable and practical
Cons: not for seventy pound dogs

I love this and so does my dog. I still had to lower my bed a little because it is not very tall but it works great. The only thing I am not happy with is that for one extra step it is $20.00, and you have to order it. Overall I would recommend this product to anyone!
