Not so sure, but fairly irritated already

We were excited about setting this tank up. It was needed in an emergency to transfer some fish and replace a tank and we were excited to go bigger.
Once we took this out of the box and began to set it up, right away we noticed the corners are cloudy with smudged and gloppy caulk, both inside AND outside. I mean it's some of the sloppiest seams I've ever seen, and because we were in an emergency to do something with these fish,we are stuck with it. I will be taking a razor to see about cleaning it up, but wow, I mean come on...globs??
Not a huge fan of the lid either, It just sort of rests inside a notch and can easily dip into the tank, because you have to remove the whole thing to do anything.
Enjoying the cheap 3 gal acrylic so much more at the moment.

Cichlid Heaven!!!!!

This aquarium is amazing and it works great with african & south american cichlids. I know most people will tell you that cichlids need a huge tank, but that is false, you can keep cichlids that get to a max. size of 6 in. in as little as a 20 gal. aquarium, but I wanted something a bit bigger and I found this flawless beauty! This tank is like heaven on earth, or underwater actually :) and my afican & south american cichlids love it, all you need to do is keep plenty of natural looking ornaments and driftwood and silk plants and your cichlids will be more than happy to live in this tank, I highly recommend this product to anyone that is in the cichlid hobby, like me :)

I bought this tank as a grow-out tank for some baby angelfish. The tank itself is fine. The hood is a super-cheesy one piece plastic deal with a cutout that only their filter will fit. You have to remove the hood completely every time you want to add fish or do any maintenance. There is a small feeding slot in the front. It is placed directly over the center brace so if you are feeding flakes you have to make sure you clean that off every time. The filter isn't adequate for that tank. And it is noisy. I have 5 other aquariums running in that room, with a total of 3 canister filters, 3 HOBs and a sponge filter. The Top Fin filter is louder than all of them put together. It works for a quick setup, which is what I needed, but plan on at least upgrading the filter when you can.
Pros: easy to install, easy to clean
Cons: flimsy

We are very pleased with this kit. The aquarium has the same foot print as a 29 gal which is a plus when looking for a stand :) The height combined with the metal stand we chose is perfect. No bending over to see our fish! I can not say how durable everything will be, but so far we have not had any problems. Being made in the USA and having a lifetime warranty were very important to us.
Our kit did come with an LED hood instead of fluorescent lighting.

I set up this kit about two weeks ago and everything is working GREAT. The light really makes the plants look beautiful, the heater keeps the water at a consistent 80 degrees, and the filter keeps the water crystal clear and free of ammonia or nitrite. (Of course, before you add the fish you have to cycle the aquarium or add some SafeStart or other bacterial additive.) The filter is a little louder than I would like ideally for a bedroom, but all in all this tank is wonderful. A+ to Top Fin!!

This is my first 'real' tank, i've had it about a month and I love it! Its perfect for my budding community tank. Comes with everything I needed. Filter works great, I like that I can adjust the output on it if I want to. The only gripe I have is the lid. The food hole is directly over top of the plastic rod that goes along the top of the aquarium for support, so it drops onto that and gets all gunked up. The heater didn't work when I got it but the ppl at petsmart replaced it no problem. Overall, great tank!

I wanted a bit bigger aquarium, this was/is perfect. Filter is outstanding, heater is right on target, and the hood is simple and easy to move on and off when necessary. Cashier also told me, anything that breaks - lifetime guarantee; I didn't know this!
Oh, really like the LED lights, instead of the flourescent tubes... bright and clean lighting.
Quality and nice size for a large aquarium that is big, yet, not gigantic. Very reasonably priced. From a 20 gallon tank to this size was perfect for my living room.

I have always wanted an aquarium and this starter kit was great to begin with. You will only need to buy a few more essentials such as an algae scrubber, gravel vaccuum, of course a proper stand and a few others. Great product.
Pros: easy to clean

This is my third tank, and it is perfect for what I have. I did not want to buy a stand, but this tank fit almost perfectly where my 20 gallon high was. The filter and heater are great, and I like the glass canopy better than the full hood.

This kit comes with almost everything that is needed. It's easy to setup and seems to be well constructed. The only minor drawback is that the filter should be a little larger with more output. However, it's reasonably quiet, and the flow rate is adjustable.

Tall Tank, Limits Stocking Options

May 15, 2012

This is a 37 gallon tall, which has a similar footprint to a 29 gallon, so treat it as such when you are considering what to stock in it.
This tank won't be suitable for an African Cichlid group (some of which range from 5-12 inches at adult size), for example, but the tall nature is suitable for something like Angelfish that prefer height over length (along with any other peaceful community fish like tetras, platy's, etc.). This tank is however suitable for some species of dwarf cichlids/shell dwellers such as German Blue/Bolivian Rams.
An ideal stocking option for a mixed community in this aquarium would be a pair of Bolivian Rams, 12 Cardinal Tetras, 2-4 small angelfish and a small school of Corydora's.
Since it's a starter kit, it's unlikely that a novice/beginner aquarist will want to try to house something like African cichlids in it, but some local fish shops will let you buy anything without question, so people may easily be misled and end up with a tank too small for the stock they are putting in it. Those bright-colored Africans can be awfully tempting when you see them as juveniles, but don't make the mistake of trying to house them in this tank unless it's for 3-6 months tops with future plans to move them to a larger tank.
I prefer HOB (hang on back) sponge filters like Aquaclear's which allow for a variety of mixed filter media (not to mention you can use the sponges for years until they start falling apart, while just swishing them in old tank water during water changes to clean and reuse them), so I shaved a star off of the rating. I would replace the Topfin filter with an Aquaclear 50 or 70 from the get-go.
All-in-all, it's a good price for a starter kit. And as always, remember to CYCLE your tank before you try adding fish (research 'fishless cycling'). Be patient and you'll be rewarded greatly.

Great price and perfect starter size for my 5 juvenile Green Spotted Puffers. Everything that it came with was good, but I did buy a different thermometer, and added a bubbler, and a uv filter. So far so good and very pleased with my purchase.

This aquarium is just the perfect size for the location I had in mind and plenty of water for about a dozen fancy guppies. I bought some extras, like a background, gravel, ornaments, plants, air pump and air stone.
Keep in mind though this is a tall model so its a little more difficult to reach the bottom with your hands to work on it (mine sits rather high). Of course if u set everything up when its empty thats not a problem.
Comes with plenty of food for a couple of months.
I did end up buying a replacement strip thermometer

This is my very firt tank and I absolutely it. It comes with everthing you need such as a filter, heater, light, fish food, conditioner, and more and its the perfect size. I have 4 goldfish in mine and plan on getting another one and they are doing great in it. Im going to get a pleco because the algea is growing very fast. The light is nice and bright, the filter is quiet, and the heater is very nice too. I highly recomend this for those of you who need an aquarium. Plus i was told that the most goldfish you can have in this tank is 4-5 goldfish but if you want tropical fish than you can get as many as you want. Bottom line is don't hesitate just go ahead and get it.

I bought this aquarium on Labor Day weekend, they had marked down to $119.00
This tank looks larger in person. It looks like it is a 55 gallon.
The only thing I did not like, is that the light was not that bright, it made the aquarium look a grayish color, but once you put a background on it looks fine.
Overall, I am thrilled with the price, and how large this aquarium looks.
Pros: comes with everything you need.
Cons: light is not tat bright
