Gizmo is my 10.5 year old 'fur baby', I found him in a parking lot when he was only a few weeks old.
Gizmo has always been a ham, he loves attention, but in the last 3 years of his life he has also developed a little bit of separation anxiety, and what I believe to be feline dementia and this collar has helped IMMENSELY.
The collar does not act as a sedative and does not 'drug' the cat. Think of it as aromatherapy for your kitty cat.
I originally got this collar 3 years ago when my work day went from 8 hours to 12 a day and he was working himself up into such a tizzy that he was getting sick and it worked great then and it works great now. My days are more manageable now and I am home more but as Gizmo has gotten older he's developed some nighttime anxiety and this collar really helps him settle at night.
When your kitty is in your lap you can smell the collar but it is not pungent or over powering at all. Think about it, it's right under his nose and he is fine with it, it definitely won't bother a human.
I highly recommend this for any pet owner. It is a little pricey for only getting 30 days usage but it's worth it for your pets peace of mind.

To say that before we discovered this collar my cat was a nervous wreck would really be an understatement. She was very skittish and shy. My daughter came home with the Calming Collar and I was very skeptical. It worked! She's much calmer, doesn't spend all of her time hiding from or attacking our other cat and actually seems to enjoy being around us!

I just bought this product today for my furry "only child". He was a shelter kitty of only 2 years and after six weeks of adjustment eliminated on my bed. I did my homework and decided on pheromone technology. I don't have any long-term experience yet but I do have two things I'd like to mention thus far. 1- I noticed some reviews stating that "the powder" all came off when they put the collar on. It says on the back of the package that this is NOT the pheromone technology. This is just a means of jump starting the process. 2- I did notice an almost instant change in my cat's mannerisms. He went from 'always on edge' to 'peace and tranquility' in less than 60 seconds. Needless to say I'm rather impressed. We will see what time and guests bring.

The product may work (too early to tell with my highly stressed new cat), but the lavender-camomile scent is completely overwhelming. The room the cat is in reeks!
Will not buy again - there is no need for the product to be scented.

I've literally had this collar for two days and I could notice the difference the moment I put it on. I have an over groomer cat that over grooms when he gets stressed with certain situations (poor cat that sleeps all day and gets fed, what a hard life haha) but we just got a new puppy and it has helped so much! This would be good for a new family member (like a baby) or a new dog. He isn't grooming to the point of leaving hot spots on his fur anymore, I've actually seen them scab over now! I will be buying this a lot more now!

Got this tonight after reading some positive reviews on the product. Our cat is anxious in general and we bought this collar hoping that it will help her with the change in routine that will be coming this week. We got it home and I went to put it on her. The coating completely flaked off the collar onto the floor and when we tried to put the collar on her, she bucked and scratched me before she ran away. Glad I got it on sale at least.
Cons: didn't work

A friend sent me two of these collars as I had two neutered male cats who hated one another. Their days were spent spitting, hissing and trying to kill one another. I put the collars on these cats and there was an immediate peace. They still don't hang out together but they do tolerate one another and peace reigns once again in our household of 6 cats, 4 dogs and a hamster. I am presently ordering 4 more collars and I wish you had an outlet here in Malaysia.

Mixed feelings

September 5, 2012
by clementine442

I bought this collar in anticipation for a move. My cat is calm and doesn't have aggression or behavior issues, but is sensitive to change and is terrified of being put in the carrier/car. The collar did nothing for the car ride...she panted and cried the entire time as well puked, peed and pooped in the carrier during our 45 minute drive.
However, I left the collar on her and I have to wonder if it is helping her out with adjusting to her new home (which includes another cat and a Saint Bernard). In stressful situations she usually hides and goes on a hunger strike, though now she's eating, exploring, even walking by the Saint. She's also very loving to me and my boyfriend whom previously she ignored. So I don't think it's a total loss.

My 4 year old cat bites and scratches everyone in the house so my vet suggested the sentry collar. I placed it on him, after the powder went all over the floor, and it seemed to help him calm down. There is only one problem--this extremely smart animal began to chew through the collar and by day 5, it was completely chewed through and on the floor. I will try one more time and make the collar a little tighter, but at $15 a shot, I won't keep spending the money if he manages to chew through a second collar. I guess he was not used to the collar and either it or the fragrances annoyed him.

Tried this on my kitten Damen, hes extremely aggressive with other pets and very high energy generally, and wow what a change. He is alot more calm mannered and less aggressive, the collar definitely brought harmony into my household in regard to the animals.

We had just adopted a Husky/St. Bernard mix dog and our 10 month old cat was very afraid and hid. The dog has his own separate living area in our breezeway, and they can only see each other through glass. Meanwhile, I was researching how to make my cat less stressed with our new dog. I went out and bought this collar for her, slipped it on and INSTANTLY she was more relaxed and started coming out from under the bed, back to her ole self. This product worked ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for our cat.
Yes, the powder does come off, but it does NO HARM what so ever and it does NOT alter the effectiveness of the product.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!

We have a cat who is strictly an indoor cat. We do have to put her in her carrier when we travel to our our cottage. While she loves being there, she hates her carrier. In the past she would "cry meow" for the entire journey. The first time we tried this collar, not only was she calm and quiet during the trip, but she actually slept for a good chunk of the 4 hour journey!! What a difference. We would not even consider taking her in the car without this collar ever again!!

Calming Collar Terrible

The "calming" lavender scent they put on this collar is TERRIBLE. Why they would put such a scent on a product for an amimal with such a sensative sense of smell is beyond me. The strong AWFUL "lavendar" smell on this collar made it totally un-usable. My cat was MISERABLE with this thing around its neck and we couldnt keep it on for any amount of time. Would love to know if there is another product on the market that just has the pheramones WITHOUT any scent on it. Have been looking but unsuccessful so far.

I have three cats that have always gotten along until the last few days. All of a sudden, one has been attacking another and making the third one a nervous wreck. I have them on Buspirone 7.5 mg. 2 x day, and that helped, but the collar has calmed two out of the three down a bit.

Our 5 year old male tabby has been getting progressively more aggressive toward our sweet little 4 year old female... chasing her, jumping on her, biting her neck, and really stressing her out. His recent bout with a UTI has complicated the problem... after he came home from the hospital, the female didn't recognize his new "smell" and started hissing at him, which just escalated the problem. I purchased a collar for each of them, and literally within minutes, they both mellowed out and became sweet and lovable again. They sleep more than they used to, but they seem completely content and happy, eating well, no issues.
My only negative is I don't "get" the breakaway collar design, it doesn't look like a breakaway to me at all.

We have an older cat that has never been a friendly cat to others. We were in the midst of determining if she was developing separation issues with a job change or kidney problems and needed to administer antibiotics daily. We had upcoming travel to another house to host a party. Knowing her needs we decided to have her travel with us. I was fearful of the stress for her age but the collar worked. I put the collar on right before leaving and I think I should have put it on a whole day or two ahead of the traveling. Most noticeably was her lack of vocals. She didn't "talk" as much - she was quite relaxed. But it made us be able to take her with us instead of dreading the travel and guilt for leaving her behind for so long and having someone else administer the meds. Thanks, it made travel with our cat enjoyable!

My cat is not one to like collars and I ended up breaking it easy because of the ribs/slits. I was putting it on him and he jerked away slightly, it broke instantly. I was able to get it on him in the end (new one). I have just moved recently and my cat was very upset by the move, he would meow and yowl till I wanted to cry from not being able to sleep. The collar worked wonderfully, he calmed right down and would only give the lil mews that he normally gives when he wants attention. This morning I awoke to him yowling again, he lost his collar somewhere, now I will have to search for it after work lol. I'll be getting the spray soon too I think it would compliment the collar nicely.

I rescued two kittens from the streets and they have been horrified ever since i brought them into the house. I put the collars on them, hoping it would calm them down. The first night, the one kitten was totally out of it. Overally relaxed. But let me hold him and pet him. The other kitten was still scared to death. They have been wearing them for about a week and they dont hide as much anymore but are still resistant to human contact. I think as time goes on i can see improvement. But i expected more positive results from the collar. I cant really tell if it working or not

Miracle-I can sleep again!

I have two deaf cats, both male. The younger one came from a shelter, where he spent the first three years of his life. He's always been a bit neurotic, probably as a result of living in a kennel for three years, but after a year of being home turned into a real sweetheart. He's been with my for three years now and for the most part is a great cat.
Lately, though, he's taken to standing in any available window (after destroying the blinds, of course), and emitting that horrible yowl of a cat in distress. Because he's deaf, he doesn't hear himself and is extra loud. He'll do this literally all night, then get spooked by something and try to run of, getting stuck in the blinds. It's horrible and I hadn't slept in weeks. There's nothing physically wrong with him-he was obviously stressed about something.
I purchased this collar and last night was the first full night of sleep I've had in ages. Not a peep out of him the whole night. As a matter of fact in general he is vocalizing a lot less, is less obsessed with covering smells, and has not been urinating inappropriately (we were previously having some issues with this). Overall he's a lot more mellow. He did exhibit some strange random hissing the first day with the collar, but I attribute this to the fact that he hates collars in general and was unhappy about having to wear it. Right now though he looks positively blissful. Absolutely worth the $15 I paid for it-I can sleep again! (I wonder if they make these collars for drunk neighbors, too?)
