"The filters needed changing about 5-7 days, which is more than I thought and becomes expensive. Cleaning the fountain is a chore, so I will probably only use it when not home for more than a few days"

Keeping Cat water filtered HELPS!, January 19, 2009

"I have two very old cats, and a dog that always manages to dirty the water in the FreshFlow Fountain. I used to try and save money by keeping the filters in place longer. Then, after yet another trip to the Vet with a cat having urinary tract problems, the vet asked if I was keeping the cat's water separate from the dog water. I wasn't. Instead of trying to keep two watering, I started changing filters more often. Now, every time I refill the autowater supply, I check the filter. Since I've been using more filters, I've had NO more problems with the cats and the dog sharing a waterer."
