I had just gotten a male and two female Betta's. I knew that it wasn't hard to keep them alive, but keeping them happy and healthy is another story. This book is a thorough guide to any new Betta fish owner.

I was hoping to make my Betta boy, Kolyat, more happy & wanted to learn more about caring for him. I've had my Betta for 2 years and had no idea that ones sold in stores could have once been used for breeding because we tend to buy the males when their fins are fully developed... so he could be MORE than 2 years old! I like how it explained that they are not desk decorations as most people use them, that point was clearly expressed for people who think they can simply eat roots and never need tank changed because they breathe air, not in the water.
I was so glad it mentioned what kinds of other fish your Betta can be with in a community tank, I been trying for that and now I know. Online information on those fish were INACCURATE! I'm glad I didn't get the wrong tank mates!
The longest chapter is about breeding your Betta, I don't intend to do that though. It's very informative and it made me want to join a Betta Club! I wish the book was longer though, I think it just went into the basics, but it was still more than I knew before! If you get someone a Betta, get them this book to go with it!! ^_^

I have read this book many times, and it has tons of information. On the disease page I wish it had more information on how to treat them and diagnose them. The book feels really study and high quality. The picture and captions are great help. I also wish it had more information on general care and bettas. I also could do without the section with all the different kinds of bettas. I do really like this book, but lack of information bumped it down to 4 stars.

I love this betta book! It gets the information across as simply as possible! it summarizes so well and is definitely easy to understand, they should call it Betta Fish for Dummies

I LOVE this book! Within a week it was torn up and looked as if I had been reading it for years. I'm now a betta breeder, the breeding section of this book was not very informative, but for the begginer it's a good setup. raising betta fry is more challenging than the 2 paragraphs the book has detailed on it. As for setting up a betta bowl it is very different from what you would pick up on this website.
Overall great book.
Pros: good info, detailed, explains the betta bowl myth
Cons: tears easily/spine breaks easily, the fry/disease pages should be more detailed.
