ProCollar Inflatable Dog Collar,
August 18, 2009
by Marwood
from Tampa, FL
Pros: soft and comfortable
"I own a ProCollar for my Golden Retriever and have used it over and over since he is prone to hot spots. I love this collar. It is so much more comfortable than the hard lampshade collars, especially down here in our Florida heat. He never minds wearing the collar. As a matter of fact, he gets so used to it in the summer when the hot spots are the worst, that if I take it off at night, he whines until I put it back on!"

Life saver!,

Pros: it's a built in pillow!, only 2 inches out so she forgets it's there!
"I really only needed the E Cone for when my pup was in her crate or when I was away. I kept a close eye on her while I'm home. I tried the cone on the vet gave me. It worked while in her crate, but when she woke up in the middle of the night, she forgot it was there and panicked. That was the end of the plastic cone and I started looking for another solution.
That's when I found this. The first time I put it on, it wasn't a fit, she didn't even seem to mind. In fact, each time it goes on she actually seems to enjoy it... tail is wagging. She looks comfortable sleeping. She is happy in her crate. I feel so much better. She cannot reach her stitches. My only regret is I didn't have it the first few days after her surgery. At least it will make the last week of recovery more enjoyable!"

fantastic concept, buuut...,

"I bought this for my pup after her spay surgery. The concept is fantastic - anything to avoid the old-fashioned lampshade sounded good to me. My pup (a 38lb pit-mix) didn't care for it, but wasn't overly bothered by it either. My problem came when I put it on her at bedtime. When I woke up the next morning, it was deflated and completely useless! Fortunately, she's not overly interested in her surgery site, so it wasn't a problem. I'm not sure if this is just a defective product or if this is a pervasive problem. Either way, the collar didn't do what I needed it to do, so it's going back. Bummer, because I think I hate the standard cone shaped e-collars as much as my dogs do."

lifesaver,
June 29, 2009

"the procollar made my life and my dog's life so much easier. Chloe had a dual surgery, and we were to keep an E-collar on her for 2+ weeks to avoid licking and infecting her wounds. The E-collar made her miserable, and my family miserable as well. She whined constantly, could not eat and drink on her own, and could not get comfortable. After 1 day, I was looking for other options. My vet recommended the procollar, I immediatly went to my petstore and bought 2. After reading mixed reviews, I feared 1 collar would not be thick enough to prevent her from reaching her wounds. Luckily, I have only had to use one. Chloe is so much more comfortable. She can eat and drink. She can rest on the collar like a pillow. She can bump into things without getting stuck. THe collar is very sturdy and comfortable. 2 weeks with this will be a breeze. If you try this item, and your dog can still reach wounds, I would recommend using 2. It is definately worth it, not to have to use the E-collar. I have had no problems with this item deflating, and my dog has not even attempted to remove it. This product is a lifesaver. Chloe and I are very happy."

"This product is WONDERFUL. My 11 month old Rottweiler ate a rock and had to have it surgically removed. He came home with that nasty lamp shade collar from the vet, I immediately bought the pro collar and what a great product. My dog didn't mind it at all, he was able to eat and drink with no problem. He had to adjust his head for sleeping a little, but didn't seem to mind the collar at all. I absolutely 100% recommend this collar for your pet. It's a little pricey, but well worth it."

"This product is SO much better than the cone (lampshade) collars that you get sent home with from the vet. My dog ( a miniature poodle) had difficulty even keeping his head up with the other ones. This one allows him to move around, play, eat/drink (which he wasnt able to do in his kennel during the day with the other collar on). It doesnt bother him at all! It's pretty easy to put on/take off. My dog is little (about 7-8 pounds) but he hasnt been able to get to his stitches from his neutering. Overall, a great purchase!"

Comfortable but somewhat ineffective for our puppy,

Pros: more comfortable, clear field of vision, doesn't constrict the head Cons: did not prevent puppy from removing stitches
"Recently had our puppy neutered and he was having a hard time with the traditional e-collar provided by our Vet. We decided to give this product a shot. We were careful to measure his neck and make sure that it fit him properly. It proved to be much more comfortable for him and didn't block his field of vision and he didn't have anything covering his head. Unfortunately it only took a day for him to somehow get around it and remove his own stitches (he was fine). We were able to let him wear it while under supervision, but while he was unsupervised, we had to go back to the original e-collar. I would recommend this product within reason. My dog was definitely more comfortable in it, however it didn't really prevent, for us, what it was supposed to."

E Collars are the worst...,
February 18, 2009
by Quiche
from Cleveland, OH
Pros: easy to put on, comfortable, less awkward Cons: pricey but worth it
"I just had my 2 year old lab mix spayed. I bought the plastic e collar from the vet for 14.00. My dog fought to try to get the thing off, bumped into everything. She would not sit down or lay down with it on. It just seemed cruel when she wasn't feeling that great anyways.
I ran out and bought this inflatable collar and it's the best. She can't reach to lick her stitches with it on. She doesn't seem that bothered by it, actually, she is snoring next to me with it on as I review this product.
I feel SO much better that she can't lick her stitches and she's a lot more comfortable!"
