SturdiBag is a flexible height pet carrier, which allows it to flex down without collapsing to conform to all under seat heights. Great for use while traveling on the road or in the air - always check with your airline for allowable in-cabin carrier dimensions and weight specifications.

We bought this for our 14lb yorkie/scottie mix and it proved to be perfect for us to take him on a plane across country with us and this was a great fit! He's not super interested in being in it at home, but he's fine with traveling in it. He can turn around and stick his head out of the top comfortably, and the pad on the bottom of the crate is a great egg-carton texture and very soft- best of all machine washable! It was a little tight getting the crate down under the seat of the plane, but we got it under there and he was fine in there. So glad we found something that is airline approved and spacious enough for him to move in.

I have had a Sturdibag for the last three years and I still have the same one. It is constructed so well, that even I can't tell how old it is.
This bag is easy to carry, comfortable on your shoulder, and offers your dog plenty of ventilation. When my sister was visiting, her dog liked it so much that she had to go buy one for her plane ride back!
This is a great, practical bag that will last!

Unbelievable Customer Service

When I flew with my two cats to Costa Rica in 2007, I spent hours researching pet carriers for the flight. I finally decided on the "Sherpa Delta Pet Carrier" because it seemed to be well made and, since I was flying Delta, I knew that I wouldn't be questioned about the size. Boy, was I wrong! Shortly after boarding the flight, BOTH cats had torn through the mesh ventilation area and one had even escaped! My friend and I spent the whole 5 hour flight bent over physically holding the ripped areas closed to prevent them from escaping again. Miserable experience, to say the least.
I'm planning my trip back in a few months, so I contacted several vendors about the construction of their mesh ventilation areas. Within hours I received a reply from Don at SturdiBag, who offered to upgrade the mesh areas of the SturdiBag Pet Carrier, Large - Black with a heavier grade, more durable material at a reasonable cost. Most of you will never have a problem like I encountered on the flight to Costa Rica, but now I can travel with the peace of mind knowing that Brother Boy and Gringo will be safe and secure in their carriers. I can't speak highly enough about the customer service at SturdiBag, and even though I haven't actually used the product yet, I have complete faith that it will alleviate my concerns. Above and beyond customer service is so rare these days, and so nice to encounter.

I bought this carrier due to the high ratings it received. However, my 14.5 lb. puppy clawed her way out of the bag at the security checkpoint. And she was sedated! I had to safety pin the side and stuff her through the top, which was difficult because the top is not that big. I also had to place a blanket between her and the broken side because she could easily reopen it. but I now have to buy a new carrier for the plane ride home. Very disappointed!!

I agree with another reviewer that the wire rod that you place from front to back on both sides on top is impossible to get the last loop into the slot due to it being too long. I tried for 1/2 hour stretching the bag to try and get the end rod into the slot. Could not do it. I will try again later. Aside from the rod issue, the bag is clearly great quality and solid as a rock. My 6-month Pug fits into the bag, which is a relief. I would recommend this with the footnote that you will be playing with the bag and rods.

My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel loves this bag. She sleeps in it everyday and all night with no problems. I leave it open on the floor all day for her. At night, I move the bag into my bedroom where I place it on the floor beside my bed, or sometimes even on my bed beside me.
The Sturdibag is very durable and secure. I wash the pad a few times a week and it has held up well. I can't be without it. It is great for car travel also.
My puppy suffers from anxiety when she is placed in a standard dog crate. This bag offers me and her security and peace of mind.
PetSmart has this bag at the lowest price I seen and I will order another one. It's a must have for me!

I've used this 2 times now with coton puppy on cross country flights, it is great, fits under the seats of the smallest planes but does not collapse on your pet. I really like that I can unzip the top and pet my pup or give treats. I use it to take pups on outings too. It works well at vets or during socialization visits as the puppy can poke its head out and get lots of attention. When you put the stays in, bend them a bit and they will go into the sleeves easier but does take a little muscle. I've broken it down and packed in my carry on and then put it together at destination, a very useful bag.

I have used many carriers to fly with my dogs, and this carrier blows them all out of the water. I can't even tell you how much better it is. It is very well built, and easy to carry. The four point strap makes it so much easier to carrier compared to others. It is so much lighter than the sherpa, which makes a huge difference when you have to lug it around multiple airports. It very easily fits under airplane seats. My mini dachshunds love it!

I've been looking everywhere - in stores and online - for a cat carrier for my 20 lb Ragdoll cat. He's too big for the cat carriers and nothing else looked comfortable to tote him around him when need be. I thank the person with the maine coon, because after your review, I ordered this. It came today, and it's fantastic! It's very well made, sturdy, high quality materials - I feel confident my kitty is safe and sound when in this. I put it together, put the fleece bottom in, and my cat got in it immediately and went to sleep! He loves it and haven't even really used it yet! The bottom is awesome - there's a foam insert into a zipper compartment to make it take shape and be sturdy - then the detachable fleece pillow sits on the bottom with velcro on each end... and the pillow is very, very, well made. I was very impressed to see it - it's nothing like I've ever seen in any other carrier or pet store. It's like a foam mattress for a cat ;) I highly recommend - I wish I could afford 2 more for my other 2 babies!

I love this bag, it's AMAZING. It's so lightweight, soft bedding, comfortable strap. Great for airline traveling, especially with JetBlue. It's great that you can squish it down so it fits under their ridiculously small seats.
But the one thing that made me so frustrated is putting the rods in when you're putting it together!!! Sliding the rods in most of the pockets is easy, but then you have to bend them so that they slide into the last pocket at the front of the carrier.
Seriously, you need to be the strongest person in the world to do this. It's so hard! Even with two people, it still took all the strength we both had and a jar gripper.
I purchased the Large. Maybe it's different with the small and medium carriers, but please be aware that you should probably start lifting some weights before you buy this. ;)
Overall, love this bag. But they need to figure out a better way to put the rods in....
Pros: lightweight, comfortable, sturdy, high quality
Cons: hard to put together

I purchased this bag to fly my french bulldog puppy to and from NYC. The bag was awesome, it fit perfectly under the seat in front of me on the Delta flights. She is 10 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 17 pounds and had plenty of room to stretch out, relax . She slept comfortably on both flights and didn't make a sound. I recommend doing some "flight simulation" training before you fly. A few weeks before our trip I put my dog and some treats in the bag every other day. I then placed the bag on floor in the front passenger seat of my car and drove 10 to 15 minutes at a time to get her used to being in the bag as well as the motion and engine sounds. The first few times she made a fuss but quickly learned it was "nap time."

I have looked for a long time to find a carrier that would accomadate an adult Maine Coon cat. My cats can be up to 20lbs. This bag was perfect for them and it doesnt collapse on top of them, so they actually seem comfortable! I love it and so do my cats!

Great for airline travel

The flex factor sold us immediately. We spent weeks searching for a carrier that would meet American Airlines' strict pet carrier guidelines, yet give our Bichon Frise enough room to move. The flexible top allows for the carrier to bend and fit easily under the airline seats. When not in the plane, the top arches up to allow for extra room. The carrier door can be rolled up and the mat was so cushy she had no issues with using the carrier as her dog bed when we were away. The carrier has clips to lock the zippers and prevent her from escaping. They allowed the zippers to be opened up just enough to slip food and the end of a water bottle to her without worry she'd try to make a break for it. She was able to bolt immediately from several others we tried in the store.
Pros: has clips that lock the zipper and prevent escape, flexible and airline compliant, straps allow for carry by hand or over shoulder.
Cons: could use more pockets and storage space

SturdiBags are perfect for car and airline travel! I used the large bag to transport my cat from Asia to the States in the cabin with me. (But check with airlines on allowed dimensions- medium is necessary for some airlines). The soft-sided design make it perfect for fitting under airline seats. Panels can be rolled back to give kitty mesh windows to look out, and its zippered compartments are great for necessary health documents. The padded floor is soft and plush, which made my kitty as comfortable as possible during a 22 hour trip. This bag was definitely worth every penny!
Pros: tough material- designed for wear and tear, roll back panels for mesh windows, zippered compartments, comfortable padding on floor
