We bought this to replace our 10 year old Petsafe dog door since the replacement panels are no longer available. First the hole in our door had to be modified to fit this new door. Why not make it the same size as your previous xl door? The first time we inserted the cover to close off the door it cracked and would not slide in. It is useless. Also the plastic flap does not fit the full opening of the dog door so air is escaping. We were very happy for 10 years with Petsafe but their updated product is a piece of junk!!! Don't waste your $$!

This is my second time buying this type of door I had to get a XL 7 years ago because one my dogs was overweight at that time. since then they change the way they made the flap before you would have to take the whole door off to replace the flap. So I decided to get a new whole door, they even change the hole placements on this one so I had to drill more holes. I read other reviews and decides to get metal screws instead of the plastic ones they come with. My biggest problem is that the door does not want to stay closed, the wind is always blowing it open and letting cold air in. so I'm going to have to put weights or something at the bottom to help keep it close. I wish they make the Multiflex door in a XXL to match these dimensions for the XL on this door. I would have given that a try instead of this one.

The door works, but not a good choice for West Texas. The wind blows here - A LOT!!! Our house fills up with dust, cold air is always coming in. This door might be OK for most, but NOT HERE!

The holes did not match and the plastic bolts took care of that. Well until you went to tighten them up. Two broke and the Phillip heads on 4 stripped. It was easy to install and I love the size. My puppy figured it out very fast. I would buy it again. But will make a stop at the local hardware store and buy some real bolts.

The door works great once we got it installed. Our dog loves it! Holes were definitely not aligned and it has plastic or teflon- like screws. I have never seen anything like it before. We are planning on replacing them with regular metal screws. We had to drill the hole in a diagonal manner to fit the screws from the front to the back of the door pieces.
Pros: sturdy
Cons: difficult to assemble

This door is not worth the price. The flap is flimsy and does not seal well, allowing air to get through the sides. Getting ready to remove it from the back door and get another brand. The last doggie door I had lasted over 10 years until I moved. It sealed very well..never had a problem. NEVER needed a replacement flap. This company tells you where to buy and how much the replacement flap is......even has the flap# on it. Go figure.

I bought two of these for my cats, bought the 1-15 lb version, smallest of the family. There were two versions of the same product; since these were the only two I bought one of each.
IF YOU HAVE THE CHOICE BUY THE ONE WITH THE BLUE PACKAGING. It is obviously a later revision, and the instructions are far more detailed, intuitive, helpful and superior. The older (green packaging) version has minimal and vague instructions which leave out many key details. The actual product is identical, and two packages have the same SKU
My only complaint with this product is substandard manufacturing/workmanship with respect specifically and only to the hole tolerances. There are two pieces of the pet door (if you can picture it) that come together on either side of the door in which the pet door is being installed. These two pieces are connected to each other with screws which allegedly fit into pre-drilled holes. Well, the major problem I had with one of the two pet doors was that these holes are very poorly aligned to the point that it was not possible to run the screw from one side to the other unless you happened to have noted this offset beforehand and drilled the holes through the door diagonally to compensate, or drilled your own better-aligned holes in the pet door frame itself. They should use slotted holes on one side which would easily avert this issue.
The other door wasn't perfect either, but it was at least possible to see daylight through the two pieces.
The finished product is very nice and aside from this caveat I recommend it: Open the box in the store and make sure the holes align. If they don't, take it to the counter and show an employee so they don't put it back on the shelf for some other poor soul to struggle with.
Pros: nice looking door and works great
Cons: possibly badly aligned holes - check in store!
