I just received my replacement door flaps and they are the exact same that was on it before that lasted 6 years. I have two dogs going in and out all day. 1 is 48 lbs the other 12 lbs. The holes lined up and fix fantastic. Seems to be the same durable plastic as before. Shipping was fast also.

Too flimsy

The material is so flimsy and lightweight it doesn't seal properly. Wind, insects, leaves and cold air enter around the flap. The original flap on the door lasted a couple of years with 2 dogs but this one has never worked correctly.

I also have an extra large and do not like the flap, it tears across the top within weeks of putting it on, and there not cheap to replace. It does not fit the opening properly so during the winter months we have cold air coming in. It would be nice if the maker could recommend something to put across the top to prevent it from tearing so easily or come out with a better made flap.

I just purchased a large size PetSafe Pet Door Replacement Flap for my doggie door and have one comment. The screw holes on the flap are too close to the edge and are already pulling. I reinforced with duct tape, but the holes still pull. This is the same problem that caused me to require a replacement. There should be some kind of reinforcement because the 'in and out' traffic does cause some stress on the pliable plastic. At a cost of over $40, the durability just doesn't seem to be there. Otherwise, love the concept.

I bought this replacement flap in August 2010. Design from previous dog door was different so I had to buy a replacement door to fit the replacement flap. I bought the extra large for my big dogs. The flap is smaller than the cutout hole which means it leaks air on the sides - not energy efficient! The flap is lightweight plastic and is very flimsy - not heavy duty enough for large dogs and not as heavy duty as the flap in the previous door. This new flap is so lightweight, my cat goes through it, which is a problem as he is not supposed to go outside. Now I will have to get an electronic collar system for the cat. The design of the door makes it impossible to use two flaps for additional weight. In less than a month the sides of the new door flap have warped so much from the dogs using it, there is now about a 1/4 inch air gap around the edges. No matter what size door flap you buy, the same problem will exist, but larger dogs needs sturdier door flaps. It took 3 years for the previous door flap to become this worn from use - now it took less than a month.
Pros: easy to install
Cons: flimsy door flap, won't work in extreme weather climates
