Amazing food., March 8, 2010
by Kels from Dover, DE

Pros: softer fur, less stool

"My cat scarfs this food up. She loves it. And it's made her fur a lot softer. And she defecates a lot less too. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to give their cat a great diet. Worth every penny."

Excellent Dry Food, March 2, 2010
by AedansDad from CT

"My 6 year old Maine Coon should be a food critic because he is very snobbish about what he eats. I decided to invest in a bag of BB Wilderness hoping that I would not shell out an Andrew Jackson and watch him turn his nose up at the first bowl. Initially he nibbled at it a bit, but wouldn't eat more than 1/8 bowl. After about a week of putting down Wilderness and his regular dry (Fancy Feast) side by side, he ate each about 50/50. He still won't eat the "lifesource bits" but he seems to enjoy the lighter colored kibble. I can't tell if he has any more energy since he was already a spaz before eating Wilderness, but his coat is much softer and he has fewer mats. Also, as some reviewers mentioned, I've noticed fewer hairballs. All in all I am satisfied with the results."

Excellent cat food!, September 25, 2009
by mcdanimr from Huntsville, AL

"Like most of the other reviewers, I was concerned about the quality of ingredients in the food I was feeding my cats. After doing extensive research, I came across Blue Buffalo. I tried a couple of the brand's other products, but my cats did not seem to enjoy eating them as much as they did the "junk food" I was feeding them before (they would eventually eat the food I put in their bowls, but would get really excited and start begging for food if I got anywhere near the "junk food" container).

Before giving up on the brand altogether, I decided to try Wilderness, even though it is much more expensive than the other products. I'm glad I did! My cats love this food! Their coats are shinier and softer than ever, and they all seem to have more energy. Their vet even commented on their fur, and asked me about their diet. He was pleased when I told him I was feeding them Wilderness.

I do have one cat who is overweight, and so far he seems to have more energy on this food, but has yet to lose weight. I'm hoping that his increased level of energy will help him shed those extra pounds, because I do not want to put him on a diet consisting of filler."

Really good protein, September 22, 2009
by Amutrainer from OC, California

Pros: healthy, cats love the flavor

"This is supposed to be a replacement for a raw diet, and its not puuurfect, but its really the closest thing on the market in a dry form.

It has really dense protien, so transition slowly, but it smells good to cats and my cat gets really excited about kibble.

To be really on-point I wish it didn't have grain in it, but its still the best thing I can find in a dry food."

Great Product, September 10, 2009
by Mitsuracer from Groveland, Fl

Pros: high quality ingredients
Cons: not available at most pet stores

"This is one of the best high protein low carb dry foods you can buy with the exception of Wellness Core & EVO. I just wish the Blue Wilderness was totally grain free (it does contain oatmeal & barley). I add about 1/2 cup of water to each serving to make sure the cats get enough water intake & they love it!! I have contacted Blue to please ask that they make a grain free formula, they said they are working on it, although I don't know if they are applying this to their Wilderness line of foods?"

Great food, August 15, 2009
by Bllauben from Marine City, Michigan

Pros: digestable, great quality ingredients
Cons: expensive

"I have a soon to be 7 year old tortie. I've had her on all types of cat foods. She is a huge shedder and vomits quite a bit. I switched her to this food. With in a week, I noticed a huge difference. She has TONS of energy. She sheds a lot less and rarely vomits anymore. She went from eating 1/4 cup of the other food to 2/3 to 1 and 1/2 cup of this food! What a huge difference! I will never ever feed my cats anything but this food ever again!

I've tried her on the canned cat food, she refused to even try it. She loves her dry cat food so much that she will watch me fill her bowl."

Please don't Discontinue!, July 1, 2009
by psweig from Evanston, IL

"My local Petsmart has not had the bigger bags in stock for the last two weeks, I hope you will get it in stock as this is the best cat food that I have ever fed my cats (4). They have the softest coats and the most energy I have ever seen, and my older cat who is allergic to corn and wheat doesn't throw up any more."

my cat inhaled this!, April 8, 2009
by Anonymous from Reading, PA

"this stuff is excellent! i just got it today and my normally very picky cat couldnt wait to get to this! He usually just sniffs new food and walks away, but not today! he proceeded to eat 2/3 of what was in his bowl right after I fed him. This is the first time in the 12 years I have had Punky that this has happened. This stuff even smells decent for cat food. i will be buying this product again for sure."

One of the best foods you can buy, January 15, 2009
by BengalBoxerMama from Tampa, FL

Pros: digestive health, softend coat

"We have bengal cat that are allergic to corn. I have to feed them a very high quality food that doesn't contain corn. They love this food. It makes their coat extremely soft and shiny, it also has eliminated urinary tract infections also. We also switched our dogs food to this brand also because of the quality."

Tastes great and less filling, December 29, 2008
by TinkerKitty from Boston

"Two Siamese one year olds, both of their older brothers died of kidney and diabetic related illnesses. One of the babies started to throw up at 9 months old and the other was obese at a year old. Vet gave me a couple of suggestions to try. What no one tells you is the store food and even some the so called "good stuff" is garbage!
Cat's can't digest the carbs (grains). I bought this product because of the LOW CARB and the awesome ingrediants. It took a little while for my boys to accept it but we have just finished our first big bag. (i feed them two dry products, the other is a similar brand but has a higher fat content).

There has been no hair balls, throwing up, my little fat one looks a little thinner and is more active. i am VERY happy with this product. I tried to get them to eat the moist in a can but that was a no go."

Doing well, December 23, 2008
by boyzdad from Pennsylvania

"Of a pair of twins, one became diabetic, so all three cats' food had to change. A search of 'meat byproducts' proved sickening and I realized I had inadvertently fed my boys things you wouldn't contemplate eating, or feeding to pets you love. Their unalloyed acceptance of this food has been gradual, but all are doing well and eating more of it - they get Wilderness and Spa Select, both wet and dry, and while they don't wolf it as they did with the 'junk', I think this is a healthier habit. I am hoping the insulin will become unnecessary for the diabetic, who can once again jump onto the windowsills and tables, whereas he'd lost strength in his rear legs (and suddenly lost a third of his body weight, when he'd been a bit overweight his whole life)."

"During much of my cat's 12 years of life, Ernie has had a problem with vomiting due to having a sensitive digestive system. The better quality the food, the better he would be but I wanted to eliminate it completely so I was always on the look out for something better. He also has a tendency towards crystallized urine (luckily no bladder stones) so I have to keep that in mind when searching for a new food.

During one of my trips to Petsmart (which is unfortunately an hour's drive from where I live), I came across Wilderness when I was scouring the cat food aisles looking for something I haven't tried yet. Wilderness especially attracted my attention because of the low grains and being a truly meat-based diet. Since cats are obligate carnivores, I felt that was my cat's particular problem.

Almost right away there was improvement. His vomiting episodes reduced dramatically within the first week and eventually he developed the softest coat I had ever felt on a cat, it is similar to that of a chinchilla. He has also bulked up a bit (muscle and fat-wise but he's not obese), has increased energy and even his teeth have become cleaner. And of course the vomiting has completely ceased and he has had no urinary tract problems (as of 6 months being on the food so he most likely will not have any)."

Wilderness Cat food - not just for cats!, July 29, 2008
by Wildcritters from Mississippi

"In researching diet options for my ferrets, I found many dry foods for ferrets included carbs and roughage their digestive tracts could not handle. Because they couldn't digest everything in the dry kibble, it was difficult to keep their cage clean and sanitary due to excess waste. They also wasted food because they weren't satisfied after eating it. I was told by a friend to try cat food. After extensive review and research I found this cat food had the highest calorie/lowest carb content available in my area. I transitioned my 2 ferrets - male 6 months old and female 14 months old to this food. The difference was amazing! They were more satisfied with this food~ate and wasted less while maintaining healthy coat and energy level. They also are able to digest it better and their cage remains cleaner. They are more energetic and playfull with each other and with me."

Wilderness Solves high protein needs, July 5, 2008
by VeraWithPets from Lakewood, WA

"My two year-old cats GOBBLED this the first time they got it. Switched to Wilderness because they're still growing and very active indoor/mostly outdoor. Recomend Wilderness for the following conditions: high activity and/or growth level, underweight, fussy eater, pregnant mother or nursing mother, and fast-growing breeds or others in growth spurt."

The way cats are SUPPOSED to eat!, June 26, 2008
by ThatKat from West TN

"Cats are naturally designed to eat high protein / low carb diets. Other dry cat foods go against this principle - they are filled with carbs and have very little meat content. No wonder so many cats are overweight! I switched my cats to an all canned diet to help them lose weight, and it worked beautifully! But they still craved their crunchies, so I give them a handful of Wilderness every night. It is low in carbs, and high protein, and they love it, so it's perfect in my book! If you have a cat who refuses to eat canned food, at least try this food. It's higher in calories, so I don't recommend free feeding it, but it's lower in carbs, which is the natural diet of a cat anyway!"

this stuff is GREAT, May 20, 2008
by lastchanceanimalrescue from maryland

"We are a Cat Rescue Organization. We treat over 200 cats a week for issues like abuse, starvation, malnutrition, parasites and who knows what else. The cats do so well on this food! It is kinda' expensive but the money we save on medical treatments for various stomach disorders is certainly worth it! We swear by Blue Buffalo Wilderness!! Oh, and the kitties love it:)"
