Only works with 1 of our dogs, plz help!!

I'm hoping to get some feedback, we put up our invisible fence about 2 months ago. We have 2 puppies, the boxer-corgi mix is about 10 months old, and our Pit bull is about 8 months old. Our boxer mix has no problems with the fence, however our Pit bull will walk right through it. We switched collars thinking maybe 1 was stronger then the other but it made no difference. Any suggestions? We are expecting our first baby soon and would like to be able to just open the front door and let them roam instead of having to leash them and put them into the actual gated area we do have, please help..

Pinch Collar on a small dog

I have a very active Dachshund mix, who was a nightmare to walk, to pulled and lunged at dogs and people, a trainer recommended the pinch collar, and we bought it. Now it wasn't a magic cure, but she definitely responded to the work better with the collar than without, she isn't a nightmare to walk anymore and now we enjoy getting out exercise together. This is a great tool to use in conjunction with patience and training. Love it!

Collar is a poor design.

The fence system works well and is effective, however, the collar does not have a switch to turn on and off. It has a hole that you have to stick a pointy object into in order to turn it on and off. BAD DESIGN! Our collar broke after 6 months. It won't charge and the switch is broken. I contacted High Tech a week ago and haven't heard a response. POOR CUSTUMER SERVICE! Don't buy it.

A Real Winner!

Petsmart has a real winner with this item. It took only 3 hours to install the wire around my 1/2 acre yard. Set up of the unit itself took only a few minutes. We found the system very well made and technically advanced over the others we considered. Most notably the pulsed proportional stimulus that increases the shock as our dog tries to get closer to the boundary. We can see him twitch when he gets too close than he takes a few steps farther shakes his head and backs off. He has never yelped or shown signs of distress due to the shocking collar. Kudos to Petsmart for carrying a product that has made our lives easier!

GREAT ELECTRONIC FENCE

I bought the Humane Contain model X-10 from Petsmart over 2 years ago. It has worked perfectly with no problems at all. The features which I feel distinguish this fence from the others include the automatically recharging battery back-up, the waterproof transmitter and the pulsed proportional shock from the collar. All these make the system easy to use and humane for the dog. Like many people, I like to do my homework on a product before plunking down my hard earned money. I decided that this was the best system for the money and I believe time has proven this to be right. I highly recommend this excellent electronic dog fence system.

An Electronic Fence You Can Rely On

I researched the many electronic pet fence choices before purchasing this system from Petsmart. The High Tech Pet fence has lived up to all its claims and then some. Sammy, Our Great Dane used to love to run into the street and chase cars. We were absolutely horrified at the possibility that he might actually catch one, resulting in serious injury or worse. We installed the High Tech Pet fence in one afternoon and within 3 days, PROBLEM SOLVED! The base transmitter is very rugged and has a display that clearly tells you the status of your system. We got the auto charging, battery back-up that insures the fence keeps working if the power goes out. The collar is small and lightweight. Sammy doesn't seem to notice it at all. Most importantly, we really like the proportional stimulus that automatically adjusts depending upon how close Sammy is to the edge of the yard. We find that this is very effective and very humane because it does not zap him too strongly if he just wanders a little too close to the boundary but it sure does if he tries to bolt after a car. This product has probably saved Sammy's life. We wish to thank Petsmart for carrying such a well made, useful item!

This fence system was not reliable. It would shock my dog when she was in the middle of the yard...far from the borders. I have to go outside and test the system before I can use it, then I can only put it on the lowest setting possible. It doesn't give a warning sound before a shock, they come at the same time, so when you are training you have to lead your dog into the zone for a shock. I am returning it and getting a system that allows me to train her with the sound as he warning signal, and one I can use without testing first.

Pros: cheap

Cons: unreliable

We purchased the Humane Contain fence from petsmart.com about one and a half years ago. The item has allowed us to let Roxie, our 100 lb Boxer, roam the yard freely without us having to worry about her doing what she is best at, getting into trouble. It took only a few hours to install the system and about a week to train Roxie. Now, she stays in the yard and rarely gets close to the boundary line. We love the rechargeable collar and we found many of the user-friendly features to be very useful. For example, the rechargeable transmitter back up battery lets us leave the house without worrying that a power failure would shut the system down.

We have not used any of the remote accessories yet but, we are considering the electronic pet door which is operated by the fence collar.

This is a very well made, reliable product. We have trusted it to keep Roxie safe and it has not let us down. We have always found that Petsmart carries the highest quality items and this product is no exception.

I shopped and shopped for electronic fences and found myself completely confused on features and pricing. I saw the Humane Contain system in a Petsmart store and was impressed with its many practical features such as the auto adjusting stimulus levels, the rechargeable back up battery and rechargeable collars. Also it appeared to be the best built item in the store. I discussed it with my wife and was very disappointed when I went back to the store and found that the item had been a special buy and was no longer available in the store. The clerk directed me to the website where I made my purchase and had the item in hand in 3 days. We simply could not be happier with our purchase. This fence works like magic. It was easy to install (total of about 3 hours to bury the wire). Training the dog was also easy. Now, he acts just as if there was a real fence around our yard. It has proven to be 100 percent reliable. We fully trust this system to keep our dog safely contained. The collar has a feature that controls other pet operated items. We are considering getting the indoor barrier that the collar operates but, we love it just as dog fence only.

We bought the Humane Contain fence and the Power Pet door that works with the same collar. At first we were leery about spending so much money and there are so many invisible fences out there we were confused about which one to buy. We chose the Humane Contain because the radio collar also has a radio transmitter that opens the electronic power door. After installing the products I can say that this is the electronic fence to buy even without the dog door. It's very well made and has useful features like the rechargeable back-up and automatic shock level. The dog was easy to train and he has not escaped once. Having the fence work with the automatic dog door is nothing short of amazing. Now, our dog has his run of the house and the yard but can't run away. We have recommended both products to all our friends. This was a great purchase well worh the big bucks.

We bought this X-10 system in the store about 8 months ago. We are very happy with the product. It does a great job containing both our dogs. One is a small Cocker Spaniel and the other is a very large Dalmatian. It works equally well for both dogs. The instructions state that it automatically adjusts shock level to the temperament of each dog. This sounds unbelievable but it seems to be working for our dogs. We love the fact that the collar is rechargeable and we never have to buy batteries. There is a feature we have not yet used but are considering. The collar has a built in device that operates the manufacturer's other items. The automatic dog door and the sonic fences. We have a problem with stray animals coming in through our dog door and we might just order the auto door because it claims to keep out stray animals. In the meantime we are very happy with the way this item keeps our dogs safely on our property.

I ordered the X-10 containment fence with the large Power Pet door and accessories. All together, my order was well over $1000.00. Needless to say, I was a little nervous. The items came very quickly. They were well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. These products are first rate all the way. The fence and the Power Pet door work together so, Gus (our clumsy, over-stuffed Great Dane) wears only one collar that keeps him safely in the yard and out of traffic while giving him access to his own electronic door. Our friends and neighbors can't believe it. This system is awesome. After about a month, Gus managed to break his collar while scratching himself against a cement block wall. I called the manufacturer, High Tech Pet, who immediately offered to replace the collar. I told the girl that Gus broke it and I would pay for a new one. She said that anyone who spent money on their products deserved to know they didn't have to worry about getting nickel and dimed over small problems. That is exactly the attitude that is missing with most companies today. I really appreciate being respected as a paying customer. Kudos to High Tech Pet and to Petsmart!
