"My cat family (and I) have used many different cat carriers, and this one is my favorite by far!
This review is based on having used 3 Pethouse carriers for 8 family cats and 10+ foster cats and kittens for one year. In addition, over the course of 10 years, I've used other cat carriers with my family cats and with rescued cats and kittens.
Pros: I love the color and style of this carrier. I really appreciate the functionality of both doors, including the top or side entry feature and right or left-loading feature. I frequently use the top loading feature, as well as the right and left-loading feature. In addition, I prefer this style of top-loading, to the ones with metal grills, for storage and transportation. (These carriers easily stack on top of each other for storage, and when transporting cats, a cover is not needed.) This carrier is also a lot easier for me to use than some styles that require more fine motor strength and dexterity than I have. (There's no pinching and holding latches or complicated hand coordination to unlatch the doors.) I also like the safety feature of locking the "latches" that connect the top and bottom sections. (On other carriers that don't have this feature, I find that the "connectors" (i.e. knobs) require constant checking for secure latching.)
Cons: I have used these carriers frequently for a year, sometimes as frequently as twice a week. During that year, occassionaly I found that people who were not familiar with this carrier would find it difficult to use. For example, vet techs would inadvertently take the doors off, when they only wanted to open one side, and they could not quickly figure out how to put the doors back on. In addition, with the heavier cats, I found the sliding mechanism on the top door requires monitoring, as the latches can start to turn into a position that results in accidentally opening the lid while holding the carrier by the handle. (After this happened once, I now check the top latch and tap it back into place when it starts to turn. Since then, no accidents have occurred.) In addition, the knob for the side doors, with frequent use, can screw off resulting in the side door being insecurely closed. But I've fixed this easily by screwing the knob back on.
I give this item 5 stars, because it is by far and away better than any other cat carrier I've used, both for looks *AND* functionality. Now that I've experienced the Penthouse carrier, I won't buy any other carrier for my cat family."

"this kennel is a great product and the extra door in the top is ideal for a frisky crate hating dog, my 6 month old havaton hates crates and i wanted something to make her feel cozy and safe i used a wire crate first because some books say that they are easy but they aren't! and Hailey hates them, i was very nervous when i bought this crate but as soon as i brought it home she grabbed her toy and went in to lay down!"

"This carrier is perfect for my dog. I love how you can open it from both sides plus you can open it from the top. It makes it so much easier when trying to get my dog out. I wish they had made a bigger pink version of this carrier because blue isn't one of my favorite colors but other than that this carrier is the best I have owned so far."

"I bought this one because the smaller size is PINK! However, since I have 2 Yorkies, it works. The top door REALLY makes it easy to get them in and out when they don't want to cooperate. Also, the sliding clasps on the sides work WAY better than the snap ones on most carriers. My Yorkies like to chewy the snap ones off and totally destroyed the first 2 carriers they had. I LOVE this one. They also come with extra pieces to close off the loose ends. No biting and no choice when it comes to getting in. :)"

"I bought two of these for my new cats, and they are amazing. When I went to the Humane Society to pick up the cats, the staff were all ooohs and ahhhs. Then, my vet couldn't stop talking about how great these carriers are today, and he said they are by far the best he'd ever seen. No more fighting with your cat to get them in, just pick up kitty, open top of carrier, put kitty in, and you're done. Amazing! I highly recommend. I just saw there's a smaller pink version, which I bet I could have used for my cats, but I'm okay having carriers that are big so the cat can move around."
