This container is great! It stores the 30 pound bag of food we buy our dog. It seals ups nicely and we don't have to worry about the dogs getting into it or anything else for that matter. It seems to keep the food pretty fresh too. It's a great size and it fits nicely in our pantry on the floor. I like the design too. It's easy to fill up and get food out of. We have a different design container for our puppy food that's more upright. It's a bit of a pain to get food out when it gets low and the dogs have figured out how to knock it over and unscrew the lid!
I'm thinking of buying another one these for our puppy's food.

We ended up getting this at the store in an effort to simplify dog food storage; we wanted something that would eliminate smell (especially since we have a cat that is clever enough to open folding closet doors), be consistently re-usable, durable, and fit into small spaces easily. In this, the product performs perfectly. The material is rigid and durable, the lid easily screws on (you can all but seal it with a quick spin of the lid, which fits well but without resistance), and it comes with a simple, but useful food scoop. There are multiple sizes of containers from this company, but this one is just about perfect because it will hold an entire bag of dog food (I don't think they make them much bigger than 40 lbs) and the design is such that when set upright, you can reach easily into the container without spilling anything. Other containers tend to have the lid at the top, so you have to angle your hand and reach DOWN into it, rather than STRAIGHT into it, like this design.

Just bought this today to keep our 2 retreiver's food in. I only have 1 complaint. The label says it holds up to 40 lbs of dog food. We were tired of keeping their food in a regular storage bin on the counter so ants would not get in it, instead of in the garage. I saw this and figured it would do the trick. We buy a 34 lb bag of food. It DOES NOT HOLD 40+ lbs OF DOG FOOD AS THE LABEL SAYS. It would not even hold the whole 34 lb bag!!!

I bought two of these last year to hold cat and dog food. We have two small dogs and seven cats and to be economical, we buy the largest bags of food available, but the food sometimes ends up going stale and the pets won't eat it. These fit under our countertop in the pantry where we feed everyone and they stack perfectly, which creates a neat appearance. At first I thought these were a bit pricey but they have been well worth the money. Very heavy duty plastic, sealing screw-on lids, and handles. I know the bins hold 20 pound bags easily but I doubt they would hold 40. Probably more like 30.

I bought the large containers after reading the reviews about the small ones not holding 40 lb bags of food. I have 2 dogs that eat different kinds of food so I needed 2 containers and wanted stackable ones due to space constraints. I thought these would work great but they will not hold the weight of a full container stacked on top of them. Not only did the top of the lower container start buckling, but since I switched them and put the other one on the bottom, now neither one's lid will close properly. If you are buying one or will not be stacking them they will probably work great for you but if you are buying them for their stacking capabilities, look elsewhere.

I have 3 Vittle Vaults from a few years ago. I went to get one today for my daughter (in the store), and they have "cheapened" them.
The plastic is so thin, and they made them MUCH smaller. The lid (and in turn, the opening) is much smaller and much thinner plastic than the ones I currently have. I did not end up buying it. It seems like it is not much different than any other plastic bin for food out there.
I guess that is the way things go now, everything is getting more cheaply made. I would rather pay a bit more to get a better quality. I would say the quality of these were cut in half of what they used to be, but the price sure wasn't.
I would have given these 5 stars if they were made the same as mine...I LOVE the ones I currently have!!

i have a boxer and he's only 8 months old and this container does NOT hold 40lbs of dog food. We are using puppy eucanuba and I have to leave 1/3 of the food in the bag.
Great thing is, it keeps everything out, him not trying to get into it is a plus!

This is great if you have a dog who REALLY wants to get at the food (e.g.- a beagle). Or if you want to keep other critters (mice, etc.) out of the food. HOWEVER, they say this will hold a 40lb bag of food -- no way. The larger one, yes, but this one would maybe hold 30 pounds of dog food. We used it for puppy food, which was only a 20 lb. bag; it didn't fill it, but it was pretty close to effective capacity with the way the opening is on the front of this one.

We use these at the vet clinic I work at. These are great products, they keep the food fresh, are heavy-duty, and are stackable. If I didn't already have a place to store my dog and cat food, I'd consider buying these. I may buy these if I get other pets in the future.
The only reason I give them 4 stars is that they can be very hard to close.

I bought this about two weeks ago & I absolutely love it. I was so surprised that it held my 30lb bad of dog food because it looks pretty small compared to the other containers. highly recommended! you won't regret it!

When we first moved into our new place, the ants settled into our place as well! Didn't want to take a chance of the ants invading the puppy's food, so we purchased this product. Not one ant got into this container.
The only minor issue would be whether or not this container can actually hold 40 lbs of dog/puppy food. I purchased a 20 lb bag of puppy food; a few weeks later noticed that the food was low, so bought another 20 lb bag. It barely fit the whole bag, plus the leftovers from the previous bag. Since puppy food usually has smaller 'bites' than regular dog food, this might be an issue in the future, which the manufacturer failed to consider.
Pros: tight fitting lid which keeps the bugs out, keeps the food fresh, free 1 cup scooper
Cons: will this fit 40 lbs of dog food?

This is a great quality product, and I would buy it again. However, there's no way that it fits 40 pounds of dry kibble. I bought a 33 pound bag of dry kibble (small pieces) and it just barely fit. Besides that, it is the best kibbble storage system that I've bought.
