Veterinarian Loves Product,

Pros: excellent odor control
"I'm a veterinarian and I love this product. I'm sorry the previous reviewer had trouble with this litter. As a veterinarian that has used and tested this litter I can say it's impossible that her cat had 3+ blood in the urine and the litter didn't turn color. Some cats start urinating outside the litterbox when they develop a bladder problem and I think this may be what happened to the previous reviewer's cat.
My own cats use the litter and I recommend it for all my clients. It has excellent odor control and it makes litterbox "maintenance" very easy - there's less to scoop out because it absorbs all the urine. The color change system has been tested extensively and works very well.
I highly recommend this litter!"

Don't use this litter for urinary problems,
December 2, 2009

Pros: good litter cat likes it Cons: as a tool to try to detect urinary changes it was
"I bought this for my male cat who frequently has urinary problems thinking that I would be able to detect any potential problems early. As a litter it was very good, but as for detecting urine, it was useless. My veterinarian said that my cat had 3++ level of blood in his urine, and the litter did not change color at all. I was very disappointed, it was too good to be true!"

Many reasons to love this litter!,

"Of course I am glad to have a way to keep an eye on my 11 year old male cat's urine crystals - he's already had one operation to remove stones. Now have him on prescription food, too.
This litter lasts a long time! With no odor! It is very absorbent. But there is a breaking point - after a while it will turn blue when it reaches the absorption limit. But that's after 3-4 weeks or more!
It's so easy to scoop out solids too - the tiny grains fall right through the scooper unlike other litter that always seems to stick so you wind up throwing away litter as you clean.
My cat is declawed (not my doing :() and I'm sure this litter is the most comfortable for him - I can tell by the way he acts when he gets in the box. Other litter seemed to hurt his poor little feet!
It's worth the extra money to me :D for these reasons and the incredible piece of mind it gives me."

Great litter, super helpful.,

"We have 6 cats and a beagle, yes I know 6 is a lot of cats. We also have 3 Litter Maids stationed through out our home. The upstairs one is set in a large cardboard box to keep the beagle out of it. Anyhow off topic. In Jan we started having "tinkle puddles" appear in our kitchen sink. After getting a sample needle from the vet and taking in a sample we learned 1 or more of the 6 had crystals. So the 6 went on Science Diet $15 a bag, a bag lasted 2-3 days with 6 cats prescription food for 2-3 weeks, we also completely cleaned and refilled our boxes with clumping clay litter, and bought a second water filter bowl so we had one upstairs and downstairs in case there was any dominance issues going on when we were at work. We then caught one of the cats in the act, and then not only got medication for 3-4 weeks for her but more prescription food for everyone until she was better since there really wasn't a way to stop one from eating a different one's food. So after a while everyone started to get better, we started talking to friends and researching a way to prevent or at least detect any future issues. We came across Health Meter litter on several web sites. Looking at the price of the litter, and our previous 1-2 months vet/prescriptions bills I said, lets give it a try. I went to our local PetSmart and bought 2 containers of the litter. The original plan had been to see if we could mix it in the downstairs box with the clay litter and watch for color change issues but really the mix option didn't work for us. We ended up completely emptying and cleaning out the upstairs Litter Maid and then filling it with the Health Meter litter to the fill line. This stuff is awesome. So awesome we turn off the Litter Maid and just run it 2-3 times a day. The absorbency level is beyond impressive, there are no signs of #1, and #2 gets all small and smell-less as well. After a month of using it we had our first human error made indicator. Seems when you have the flu and forget to run the box for 2 days it can create a high ammonia color change. To make sure it could be human error, before boxing all 6 up and heading to the vet that minute I called their 800# and spoke to a very nice gentleman who explained, it could be the ammonia we do recommend you change the liter once a month per cat etc and if you want to change it out and wait a day before going to the vet that is your option but we can't say don't go to the vet. Well we rinsed out the box, got new Health Meter to refill the box and decided as our vet would close soon for the day to give them a day with the new liter to see if there were any color indicators, and happily the new litter tells us everyone is safe and healthy. The reason I love this stuff other than its amazing absorbency and odor control is, after having had the crystal issue, and 8 years ago a blockage for our oldest, we now have a way to see if there is something going on with our zoo so we can act on it immediately, and if we opted to put a cat in the room with that box we would be able to narrow it down to who was having issues without taking all 6 to the vet and stressing them and our poor vet out. Health Meter- Thank you for making sure a great product that lets pet owners know their animals are healthy in that respect . My only request, larger containers for us multi cat owners who do tend to have to top off the Healthy Meter levels about once a week or so, and to make replacing the old litter easier. Pet Smart- Thank you for making this amazing item easy to buy by carrying it in store!"

Highly recommended new product!!,

"I bought this product a couple of weeks ago, as I saw it in the store and thought it looked like a no-brainer -- who wouldn't want to know if something was wrong with their pet, after all? Sure enough, this product met/ exceeded my expectations. It isn't dusty, absorbs smells a lot better than other brands, and our cats took to it right away. Luckily, our cats are healthy, but as a kitty-mom, I definitely feel a lot better using this product in case something turns up in which case I could take them to the vet before anything gets dangerously out of control. I wish everyone would use this product, as it would definitely help in getting proper medical attention for a lot of animals who might need it."
