I recieved the dog playpen as a gift. Not too long after my dog was jumping out of the playpen in the middle of the night and ripped apart the mesh lining.
Setting up the playpen was pretty difficult. It wasn't snapping into place and probably took two of us an hour to snap 4 corners in!
This product barely lasted me 3 months...thank god i didn't pay for this!

This is a wonderful idea however, it is somewhat difficult to collapse all of the way. This wouldn't be that big of a problem if you were to just keep it in one spot. My dog also kept jumping out, so I am unable to use it. But like I said this is a good idea, especially for those who have smaller dogs. Just not for me.

An Absolute Lifesaver!

July 7, 2008
by CockerMama
fromDallas, Texas
We "unexpectedly" found ourselves with 3 six-week old Cocker Spaniels on the 4th of July (okay, we had planned on 2, but we just couldn't leave the 3rd sister behind), and this playpen was an absolute lifesaver.
It keeps everyone safe and under a watchful eye, as both you and the kids can see through the mesh. The waterproof mat is invaluable, as you can imagine with three new puppies. For ease of cleanup, we opted not to use the soft bed, but rather use double-layer, water impermeable hospital/surgical instrument tray wraps (that the hospital tosses out anyway!) that nicely cover the waterproof mat, and can be immediately picked up and put in the garbage and a fresh one put down.
The pen comes with a generously sized accessory bag that clips onto the outside. The entire pen collapses down and fits into a nice carrying bag...very portable. It sets up/folds down in a minute (after you figure out how because the instructions are pretty useless).
A word to new owners: When setting up, DO NOT lock down the red handles/pedal on the bottom bars before you get the top rails set, or you'll never get the top rails into position. The first step is to YANK up (yes, YANK, don't be shy) one of the folding top rails, then push down gently to lock. Do the same with the other folding top rails (2 rails are stationary; 2 rails fold). Once the 2 top rails are locked, then flip down each of the four red handles/pedals on the bottom rails, and you're in business!
I do wish that the seams on the zippered panel were better secured...the pups like to bite on the seams. We'll see how the pen's construction holds up to 3 growing medium-sized dogs, but the size (3 ft x3ft) will likely see us through housebreaking. I would highly recommend this pen to any new puppy parent.

Good..but not for determined pups

Pen is great and was a good solution to give the dog room but not roam the house when we went to work. But the moment we brought my 12lb dog to my mom's house to sit for the week, she figured out the zipper and got herself out. When we clipped the zipper closed, she figured out how to scratch the corner and fray it enough to squeeze herself out of the hole she made. I would still recommend to a friend but maybe for the lazier dog!

I bought this home n go in august when we inherited a 14 yr old shizu. He had never been penned up and did not like it. Within 2 hours he had figured out how to unzip it. We have not needed to use it but recently went away and had a friend watch the dog. They woke up in the middle of the night and the dog had unzipped it... the following night the used and electrical tie to keep it zipped. They woke up to find that the dog had ripped the mesh on the side of the pen all the way down the side... I don't know how strong a 14 year old 12 pound dog is but this did not work for him.

I absolutely love this pen. My two new puppies don't mind being in there when we leave at all. You can unzip one end and the pups can go in and out of the pen on their own, making leaving them in there when we leave much easier. I highly recommend this product.

Great Item but be Careful!

I purchased this item about 6 months ago for my 3.5 lbs Chihuahua Louie. My husband and I work long hours and we felt guilty leaving him in a tiny crate all day. We purchased the Home N Go and we are glad we did. In the beginning we would leave louie in there for about 8 hours. We got the small and it was more than big enough. It is very sturdy. We bought something else for traveling which just pops open and closes, but this one does the job for when he sleeps at night. We did run into one issue though... One night we woke up to get a drink of water and found Louie out of his playpen. We couldn't figure it out. After putting him in there for a small amount of time during the day while we were home we figured out that Louie somehow figured out the zipper and would dig on the zipper until he got them appart, stick his head in the hole and then use his paw to push the lower zipper down so he could get out. Couldn't believe it! But we found an easy fix. We zip tied the two zippers together and haven't had a problem since!!

Dog Owner

I bought this to keep my new chihuahua puppy in while I was at work, and it worked great for a while. The side seems where the mesh meets up with the rest of the pannels are pulling apart. If, or should I say when, she figures it out she will be out of the pen or trying to dig through my wall in order to get out. I love the fact that it folds up, but is just isn't good for an every day sort of thing.

Wonderful product.

I purchased this for my new teacup poodle puppy. Safety is a big issue with these tiny puppies. I leave this in my living room all the time and Pierre goes in when I leave the house. He loves to chew electric cords and also is so small he could get stuck behind or under something and be hurt. There is plenty of room for his bed a blanket and a puppy pad.
We also take this when we travel and I must say its great. Completely folds down and stows in a carry tote. Comes with a soft pad, a easy clean liner & a bag to carry all his personal needs, food water, leash and clothes. Read the directions and its easy to put up and down. I couldnt live without this!

Travel Made Easy

I used this to travel with my puppies. Great, has a bottom that is removeable and water proof, easy to clean. Folds, so it is easy to take with you. Has a removeable pack, with zipper, and removeable handle, can carry over the shoulder. I also used the removeable handle as a leash. Read directions well, to put it together, once you do it is great.

I originally bought this as something I could take with me to places where I needed somewhere for my chihuahua, Ginger, to stay (such as friend's houses). After setting it up, though, it is bigger than I thought (I got the small as my dog is only 4.5 lbs). It seems like more of a hassle to fold it back down and set it up again, so I left it up and just call it "playpen". Ginger knows the word and it is like her crate now that she is potty trained. Be forewarned that this product is for potty trained animals only. If it gets dirty, the mat can be washed but the bottom plastic part cannot. This product wouldn't be a good idea for your pet if they like to chew a lot either.
I did find it a GREAT item to keep Ginger in when she came home from her spay surgery. I have another bigger dog and needed a way to keep them separate, but be in the same room too. This was GREAT for that! It still sits in the corner, although bigger than a crate, for Ginger to go in and relax. She uses it to nap, on her big chenille pillow that's in it. She does like it when I'm away and she doesn't have a lap to lay in. :)
It's a great product, but I found that it wasn't really necessary. It may or may not be necessary depending on your situation.
There is no question of the quality, although I found the zipper a little hard to zip. It's probably better that way though, so the dog can't unzip it herself!
