Pros: solid construction Cons: abrasive surface, no railings, plastic end caps keep falling off, overpriced
"I read the reviews before buying this product and most were negative. However, I needed a ramp for my old lab and this was the only one at the store in Madison, WI. What a mistake! The very first time my dog fell on the abrasive sandpaper surface she became afraid of the ramp. Also, there is no railing, so even when I could (slowly) coax the dog onto the ramp, she fell off the side. This probably wouldn't be a problem for a dog with no walking problems, but then you wouldn't buy it for a dog with no walking problems, would you?
As to construction, it is sturdy--except that the plastic end caps fall off as soon as you look at them.
PetSmart should check into the DogRamp. I looked at their web site it it looks like a better product at a cheaper price."

"When our 9 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever started having problems jumping into the back of our SUV we bought a ramp for him. The first one was too short and therefore too steep for him to want to use. We then purchased this one that extends to 72". Much better. I agree with other reviewers that the "sandpaper like" surface is the only drawback. The dog's nails scratch and dig into the surface. Otis has gotten used to the ramp and will now wait for us to put it out instead of throwing himself at the back of the vehicle. It is easy to set-up and take down and fits easily in the back of the SUV. A live saver for us and our dog."

"The ramp is easy to use-it works exactly as it says it should, however; my dog absolutely hates it. I believe it's the material on the ramp (similar to sand paper) that bothers her. When I cover the ramp with a towel she'll use it - reluctantly."

"This item was so helpful when my dog broke her back leg on a trip. We were all the way out of state and just picked one up at Petsmart. The quality is great. It is sturdy, and strong. Very easy to store too. I would always recommend this!"

"Once my 12 year old Pyr realized it was safe (after the first trip up and down), she uses it readily. It's light and fits easily into the back of the car. It's expensive for what it is but it's all I can find. It's worth it for my dog. My one complaint would be that the grip covering on it is like a sandpaper. Her nails put holes through it the first time she went up. They should upgrade that to something sturdier."
