Very large box, 1 disadvantage is flimsy door,
November 12, 2009
by NWhite
from Lafayette, LA
Pros: large size, good for multi cat home Cons: tall height vs. width, flimsy front door that falls off frequently
"The litter box is VERY large & good for use with multiple cat homes. I have a Maine Coon & Ragdoll that both share this box. If I would change anything about it there would be 2 things: 1) To make the box wider rather than so tall & 2) Make the door stay attached better. I had wanted the swing door on the front to help with litter smell between the time they used the box & the time I get home to clean it. However the door repeatedly fell off and I just ended up throwing it away rather than having to wash & reattach it each time."

"In the begining this pan seem adequate, but as our cats got bigger, it became obvious that it just was not big enough, we have big healthy cats and our larger cat just does not have room to turn around so he ends up leaving his mess just over the edge of the door and outside of it too."

"This is a great cat litter pan,it cleans in seconds with no scoop. Great for someone with allergies. The only problems i have seen is you have to be careful to put the top on correctly, otherwise when the cat goes in the door will lock and they can't get out! Also, it isn't great for a small kitten because when you sift it the waste is so small it doesn't get sifted out."

So-So, but not worth the Price,
March 4, 2009
by KittyMamaof2
from Texas
"We bought this litter box because we thought it would be easier than scooping. It's not. First, we had to remove the door or else one of our 2 cats would not use the litter box and would go elsewhere! Can't have that.
Second, once it is filled with litter, it is very heavy to sift because you are lifting all of it - pan AND all of the litter that's in there, wet and dry.
Third, the first time I used the pan, it was great. Not so good after that. The liquid-filled clumps stick to the sifter grates and clump up so you wind up having to wash it anyway which adds another step to the process.
Fourth, there are two "bottom" pans. This is good, in theory. What winds up happening is that you lift out the sifter pan out of the bottom pans to separate the clumps and dump them. Keep in mind that you need to hold the sifter pan directly over the bottom pans or you will have litter going all over your floor. Then, you separate out the two bottom pans (putting the pan's dirty bottoms directly on your floor) and put the sifter pan into the unused bottom pan. Then you lift up the pan with the litter and dump it into the bottom pan that now contains the sifter pan. Then you have to lift the other two pans into the now empty bottom pan. That's a lot of lifting.
Fifth, if you have any sort of arthritis in your hands, it's easier to lift a regular scooper. It's a lot off coordinated lifting and holding and even with healthy hands, I struggle with holding the bag onto the outside of the pan while balancing the sifter over another pan and dumping at the same time.
I will be looking for my receipt, washing out this litter box, and returning it to my local Petsmart store for a flawed design. In my opinion, this pan is NOT easier than using a scooper. A scooper is cheaper and easier to use and you don't have litter going all over the floor."

Somewhat happy...,
December 3, 2008
by misslys
from Roseville, MN
"I'm a first-time pet owner and I was looking for something easy. I first noticed the look of the box, but when I saw that it was a sifter I was sold. It worked perfectly at first, but not for long. I initially used clumping litter, which I now hate. The sifter was wrecked after only a few uses, because I simply could not get it clean enough. I tossed out the sifter and just use the box now, it does do a great job of keeping out odors. However, I would like to get another one and retry it with basic clay litter; just to get the ... out daily."

"I bought this box after mine broke walking down the stairs, and ended up emptying itself on the stair case. I love the idea of a sifting box, however the door scares my cat and she refused to go inside. She walks by it and hisses. I took the door off to no avail. My larger male cat does not fit in it. Overall, the door is for people not for cats, and the box is way too small. I am a little disappointed. Glad I only bought one."

Like digging for gold...,

"...almost. I bought this a year ago and am still happy with how it works. We don't use nearly as much litter with the sifting ability. It is easy to use and we don't even use the "clumping" kind of litter."

Ended up using this box with litter liners.,
May 18, 2008
by mcstacey

"Bought this thinking it would eliminate sccoping. The clumped clay gets stuck on the sifter and would end up having to clean the sifter. Ended up using it just like the regular litter box with liners that I threw out and had to go back to scooping. Don't waste the extra few dollars. Have purchased the Omega cat box from Petsmart and it works great. Just ten more dollars and is in a whole different class of litter boxes!"

Problems Problems!!!,
April 2, 2008
by Lama

"I have had two of these litter boxes and both have cracked on the side. $25 is a great price to pay if the little box would stay intact. Also I never received a sifting pan with either litter box. I would not recomend this product for a multi cat home as mine is."

The best solution so far...,
March 27, 2008
by coyotewriter
from Seattle
"I have 2 cats, one 12 lbs and the other 7. I have 2 litterbox “stations,” one upstairs, one down, and bought 3 of these sifting litterboxes. Why? I take one cleaned sifter and base, along with a large garbage bag, to one of the stations, sift the clumps (a very easy, quick, and relatively clean process) and dump that into the garbage bag. If anything sticks, a few taps typically takes care of that. I then pour the sifted litter (or new litter) into the clean base and sifter. With the just-emptied base and sifter in hand, along with the garbage bag, I repeat the process with the second station, and have the extra sifter/base to clean and use next time. 10 minutes tops to do this. My only beefs are that the picture is beige and the ones sent were dark green, and I really wish it was longer/wider. Otherwise, it performs as promised, and sure beats using a scoop."

Thank you, thank you....,
February 18, 2008
by Missingmeds
from Columbus, Ohio
"I got this litter box because I needed something other than the one we had that we were using the scoop on. I am the one that takes care of the cat and I am looking at surgery so I needed something that was very simple to use so that other people could clean the box while I can't.
The cat is a 15 lb fixed female that is about 3 or so years old. I got her about 4 months ago and she came with a regular litter box. My boyfriend was afraid that she wouldn't use it but once I took the door off she is fine with it.
I find it easy to clean, and really great. I use Tidy Cat scoopable litter in it and it makes clean up a breeze. I just take off the top, pick up the sifter tray and dump the stuff and then reset the boxes. Takes me maybe 5 minutes and I clean it twice a week with the one cat.
The other good thing about it is that it doesn't smell even with the door off."

Extremely Satisfied,
February 1, 2008
by Peanut11
from Bronx, NY
"I have 3 cats, and before I had these litter boxes I dreaded cleaning the litter, it was such a process. I could not afford 2 of the high priced self cleaning litter boxes plus I was afraid that my picky cats would be afraid of them and it would wind up being a huge waste of money. These boxes are so easy, fast, and convienient to use I cleaned two of them in less than a minute. Some of the litter did get stuck in the sifter but with a few taps from my old scooper it came right out. I cant use the tops however because my cats would not use them with the tops on but with the help of a good litter mat no mess. It is a great product and I am so happy with my purchase and I definately recommend it to anyone who does not like to clean litter boxes."

Simple to use,
November 6, 2007
by Alex

"I'd never tried a sifting litter pan before and this seemed like the best buy. I've been satisfied with it and it does simply take four steps, yet at the same time it tends to leave behind a mess as you remove the layer meant to hold the waste. Some of the waste gets wedged in between the strips of plastic and it's hard to clean in between them. But it's a lightweight, transportable, easy-to-use litter box that I would still recommend."

Large sifting cat litter pan,
November 4, 2007
by Anika
from Orlando, Florida
"It is a real ideal litter box to get. It is surely less mess around the area. The box needs to be easier to unclip. And the flab in front is just for style because when you put it together and the cat goes in it comes right off. It is a simple little tug and the flap goes flying. Besides that I think it is ok. And she likes it too."

The best manual Litter Box,
October 17, 2007
by CatLover23
from Kent, WA
"Hello, before having 3 cats with my husband, I had just one cat. I used to scoop her litter with a plastic scooper then try to get it neatly in a plastic bag which was not easy and I usually made a mess each time I did this.
Now with 3 cats we have 2 of these new cat litter boxes which are the best. No more scooping with a plastic scooper. All I do is bring a large trash bag to the litter box. Sift the mess, place the bag underneath and all around the sifter pan and voila no mess and no hassle. It is so easy. After that it is ready to go in the trash bin. My husband and I wish we had found this years ago when we had our prior cats. For the person who said that things get stuck to the bottom. That only happens when you don't put enough litter in the box. We put quite a bit in and have the lid on so that when the cats dig it does not fly all over the place. I still think it's the best thing next to the automatic litter boxes."

Amazing!,
September 15, 2007
by KittysAnne

"I just got a kitten and have been through 3 litter boxes looking for the right one. This is definitely it! I haven't had any difficulty lifting the box and it's much easier to empty than a "normal" litter box. Kitty (female) didn't like the door, so I've removed it; even so, there is no smell whatsoever. Also, the box only needs to be emptied once every 3-4 days (for one cat)."

my male is huge (just large, not fat), and had a hard time manuvering in it. but we had to have something like it, because he has bad spacial relations, and was consistently defacating over the edge. our femal hated the swinging door. it freaked her out."

Odors are no longer a problem,
August 11, 2007
by bittybissa
from chicago, Illinois
"I have 2 cats, blubber-at my moms house and bitty-at my house. I am currently 7 months pregnant (as most women know, that is the most sensitive smell that a girl can have in her entire life). I was over at my mothers house and could not find my blubbers' litter box. I then realized I cant find it because there is no smell anymore, my mom had replaced the old open one with this one. I had to get one for my house, for bitty. Not only does bitty get a kick out of the swinging door, but the odod is completely gone!!! it is amazing how much more room my bitty has in this one, she could not be happier and neither could I!!!! no more litter all over my floors and carpet, no more scratching the walls when she is done doing her business. An overall EXCELLENT product! (The only thing I would re-design, I agree with the other reviewers, is the locking mechanism on the walls of this box. I, being pregnant, can not change the litter box, (Doctors orders) but I can see my boyfriends muscles in use when snapping it closed so I know for us females it would be some work.)"
